One source with intimate knowledge of the discussions tells me negotiations are 80-85 percent complete. They’ve made such fast progress, I’m told, it’s catching many of the principals by surprise. Some are now canceling vacations, believing an agreement will be reached within a matter of days.

With training camp and the season creeping on the NFL, negotiations have rapidly fired up. Both sides suddenly seemed determined to get a deal in place. Last week has been a whirlwind for the owners and the NFLPA.  Just when it seemed a deal wouldn’t get done the owners and NFLPA have suddenly changed the dynamics. First to enter mediation without lawyers present, to find common ground, then you regroup with lawyers present to hammer out the specifics.

I must say I’ve been very pleased with the sudden surge to get a deal done. Lets go NFL!
