Rex had a message he wanted to convey to the Jets fans today. In his message one of the things discussed was opening up the offense the letting Mark Sanchez throw the football more and IMO I’m very happy he has said this publicly. One of my personal fears was that Rex was too proud to change. That he was too set in his ways with his old school “ground and pound” philosophy. I was afraid he’d keep trying to stick square pegs into circular holes. However Rex knows what has to be done. These aren’t the days of old in the NFL. This is the new era. The league has been tuned for quarterbacks to throw the football more so then any other era ever in football and I’m just personally proud that Rex understands and gets it. It’s Mark Sanchez’s time to shine. It’s time for him to really take that next step.
“I’m really exited to get back at this and the New York Jets are going to be ready and the best thing is, we get to prove it,” Ryan said. “Believe me, we are ready to do it, we think we’ve helped our football team during this time, we took it as an opportunity to get better, and we believe we’ve accomplished that and that we think its going to be our year and we’ll find out soon enough.”
Ryan added: “The ground and pound offense is ready to roll, (Mark) Sanchez is going into his third year I cant wait to see his improvements and we’re going to let it fly a little more than we have in the past. We need you in those seats, let’s have at it.”
