Monumental draft bust Vernon Gholston tried out a few new jokes Monday night after the Bears loss to the Giants.
Of his time with the Jets, Gholston complained to the New York Post: “Being a first round pick, you would have hoped for more of a chance.” The Jets carried the completely useless Gholston on their roster for three seasons, three seasons in which he did absolutely nothing to help the team, three seasons worth of chances and opportunities, but he didn’t get a fair shake? Hilarious. What else have you got, Vernon?
“Obviously, [Rex Ryan] was in Baltimore for a number of years and has a passion for those guys.” Is Vernon Gholston implying that he’s better than former Ravens players like Bart Scott? Is he implying that he is better than anyone who has ever played football in the NFL? Oh, the hilarity! Give us another joke!
“Teams are always looking for talent, and to say I don’t have talent is a far stretch.” I don’t even really know how to respond to this quote… If Gholston considers not playing with intensity a talent, then yes, he’s very talented.
Instead of stepping up and accepting responsibility for how badly he preformed while on the Jets and making up some nonsense about how he’s trying really hard to get better with the Bears, Gholston disses his former team. At least he knows when it’s a good time for him to speak up about how great he is, he’s had one tackle assist in the preseason so far– that’s almost as good as getting one tackle all by himself!
Gholston needs to take a look in the mirror and realize what he really is– a bust– a bust and a joke. Zero sacks. Zero interceptions. Zero forced fumbles. Zero passes defended. Actually, that’s just sad.
