Sadly New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan is not the first Jets member this season to be among the highest ranking overrated people in the NFL.

The big question for this weeks game, and for Coach Ryan to have a hope for getting himself off of this list, will be to upset the Seahawks at home, not an easy task mind you and one that SportsBetting.ag are predicting not to happen.

He is joining the likes of Tim Tebow and Mark Sanchez as they were also voted two of the most overrated players this season. Coach Ryan has finished in first place on this the list of most overrated coaches in the NFL.

This is unfamiliar ground for Rex Ryan, seeing as how over the last few years he has commonly been the coach that most players have said they would want to play for. Rex is truly a polarizing figure – either you love the guy or you can’t stand the way he coaches.

Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News pointed out, this poll was a rather small sample size with only 103 players polled. Of those players 35 chose Rex Ryan. Coming in second place was Coach Bill Belichick of the New England Patriots with 16 votes, followed by head coach Andy Reid of the Eagles in third place with 9 votes.

I raise the question, could this instead be a case of the person the players feel gets to much attention? Do the NFL players really see Rex Ryan as an overrated head coach? Not only has he done something that only a handful of current head coaches have done, which is take a team to their championship game back-to-back consecutive years, but he has also turned around a franchise that was not looking very good before he became head coach.

I would say success runs in the Ryan family, and Rex would not be on the top of my list of overrated head coaches in the NFL. He has had quite the successful run for his first head coaching gig. He is 31-25 since taking over the head coach job in 2009 from former coach, Eric Mangini. In a season that ended in major collapse with Mangini missing the playoffs due to losing four of his five last regular season games.
Ryan is not coaching his best football this season, but given the amount of injuries and lack of talent on his team I think he is doing the best he can.
