I hadn't seen a topic about this, and I was curious to hear what you guys thought of what he had said about gays. For those who are living under a rock, here is what he said:
"You know, I hate gay people, so I let it be known. I don't like gay people and I don't like to be around gay people," he said. "I'm homophobic. I don't like it. It shouldn't be in the world or in the United States."
MY VIEW:
Ok, I have no problem with you expressing your feelings about something, but the man just said that he hates gay people? Why hate someone for something they really can't control? I agree that I would feel uncomfortable as well if there was a gay player on my team as well, because they'd be in the locker room with me, and who knows what the guy would be thinking. I know most of you guys being Knicks fan, you guys probably disliked the guy before these comments anyway. I mean lets say Alonzo Mourning came out. Would he just end an NBA career of friendship because Zo thought he wasn't straight? I personanlly don't like bigots. Those are the people who I believe don't belong in the United States.
I know this is a strong topic, and I just wanted to hear your views on all of this.

First off, his comments were obviousvly VERY wrong...i personally dont know how anyone can be "homophobic" or hate gays for that matter..what are they afraid the gay people will hit on them? I doubt gay people are even atracted to straight dudes because they are too gross, hairy, fat, etc. for them......
Besides its not like gays are usually the overpowering, scary type!
....weird stuff...

I understand that everyone has a right to their opinion but there are just some things you don't say. For example the first part of his statement wasn't that bad when he said he would be uncomfortable, but than he said he hates gay people and there is no place for them in the world. Thats absolutely ridiculous, there was no reason to say all that. He definitely crossed the line.

Thanks for the Memories

You know what really pisses me off now. When Ameachi first came out, they respected that he came out, and showed who he really was. As soon as the bigot bastard, Tim Hardaway says something that is negative to all gays, and Ameachi himself, you then see people on Ameachi's website saying they want to kill Ameachi. This is exactly why we need less bigots in this world. You've got kids who are going to think the same way that Hardaway thinks now. I just want to know why the hell does Tim Hardaway really care about Ameachi's choices? I don't want to hear anybody say that it's freedom of speech either, because you just don't say you want Ameachi gone from this world, as in him being killed or some sort of thing like that. All Hardaway should have said is, "I am just against what gay people do", and be done with it. There is no need for the comments he made. I really didn't have any respect for Hardaway before these comments, and now I doubt there is any respect in me for this guy.

Some people are really against homosexual lifestyles because of their religion beliefs. I know if I was a professional athelete I would have a problem with a gay teammate just for the fact that they shower with all the guys and shit, you don't know what they are thinking. It is like having a child molestor being a teacher's aid for kindergarten students or a straight main in the changing room of the Hawaiian Tropics contest, it like a dream come true. I think if you are a gay athelete you should atleast be honest with your teammates, and they should be banned from the locker room or something or atleast it gives the other atheletes the option to cover up in the locker room knowing that he is gay.

That's exactly what I said as well in my first post, but if you dislike gay people than either keep it to yourself, or say you just dislike what they do.

I mean I don't have a problem with gays, but I think that (as bad as this sounds lol) maybe they should get a separate dressing room or something. I mean, to add on to what Ultimate said, would you allow a straight male into a female only shower area? Same kind of thing.

Showering outside of prison just doesn't have the same element of danger.
How do you know you haven't already showered with a gay man?
In High School?
The Local Gym after swimming/basketball?
Did you anus and mouth get violated? Probably didn't happen.
My theory there is that an adult gay man has the self control to recognize that a "public" shower would be an inappropriate place to make his move. Pro athletes who are freaked out at the prospect of showering with a gay man are themselves, very high strung on the issue.
Tim Hardaway? Oh yeah, he's freaked.
Did you see the George Takai response on the Kimmel show? Very funny.
