I know most teams play prevent when leading but the jets have had 4.25 quarters of prevent defense which inflates the numbers against our pass defense. In the week 4 game against the Cardinals, Kurt Warner had 382 yards passing in the second half against our prevent and 90 yards in the first half against our base D. In week 11, Matt Cassell had 72 yards passing prior to us taking a 24-6 lead (with roughly 5 minutes left in first half). He then had 328 yards after while playing against a prevent/semi-prevent Defense. Using some experience and hypothesis, I would say that should knock 35 yds per game off our defensive total. That is roughly taking half of the 710 bloated yards off the books.
That would bring us up into the 12th-14th ranking. The jets play some of the worst prevent defense and seem to get into that mindset too early in games they are leading in. I guess the moral of the story is that the jets DO NOT play the pass that bad. We have pretty much shut down Moss for 2 games. We did a great job against Boldin and Fitz when the game was competitive. Lee Evans was very quiet in the Buffalo game. Lastly, we did a good job against Ocho Cinco and whos your mama. I can't think of 1 game (with the possible exception of the Charger game where we were toasted through the air.
