Jetsfan115 Icon : (Yesterday, 04:12 PM) chuck norris said tebow is a great QB. i'm so conflicted becuase tebow sucks but on the other hand if chuck norris said it, it must be true lol
Jetsman05 Icon : (Yesterday, 09:21 PM) Geno was not the favorite to win the heisman going into the year lol
Jetsman05 Icon : (Yesterday, 09:21 PM) you don't watch college football, stop
Jetsman05 Icon : (Yesterday, 09:23 PM) He might not even of been in the second tier of players
SecondHandJets Icon : (Yesterday, 09:25 PM) I've read a ton of articles and all had him as the favorite
SecondHandJets Icon : (Yesterday, 09:25 PM) Who was the favorite then?
SecondHandJets Icon : (Yesterday, 09:27 PM) "Smith was already going to be on most Heisman preseason lists, but a 407-yard, 6-TD performance in the Orange Bowl win over Clemson only solidified him as an elite passer. He can make every throw on the field and has a plethora of talented receivers coming back. Since this team will likely be playing in the Big 12, which has had the uncanny knack for inflating quarterback numbers recently, Smith and head coach Dana Holgorsen are going to leave opposing defenses charred and crippled on most Saturdays."
SecondHandJets Icon : (Yesterday, 09:27 PM) That's from a Jan 2012 article

SecondHandJets Icon : (Yesterday, 09:32 PM) He was 4th according to Vegas odds in April 2012
Jetsman05 Icon : (Yesterday, 09:53 PM) 4th makes him the favorite?
Jetsman05 Icon : (Yesterday, 09:53 PM) you said he was the favorite
Jetsman05 Icon : (Yesterday, 09:53 PM) he wasn't anything near the favorite
Jetsman05 Icon : (Yesterday, 09:54 PM) he reached his pinnacle in the heisman race in the early part of last season
Jetsman05 Icon : (Yesterday, 09:54 PM) at that point he was the favorite
Jetsman05 Icon : (Yesterday, 09:56 PM) also, what a basketball game
MikeGangGree... Icon : (Yesterday, 10:21 PM) 4 point game
MikeGangGree... Icon : (Yesterday, 10:21 PM) maybe the pacers are that good
SecondHandJets Icon : (Today, 12:36 AM) I said that his time last year, he was the favorite. I misspoke. He was 3rd or 4th. He certainly wasn't "not even in the 2nd tier" like you claimed
SecondHandJets Icon : (Today, 12:36 AM) Take your medicine Matty
SecondHandJets Icon : (Today, 12:36 AM) Maybe you should watch more college football instead of talking about watching college football
Jetsman05 Icon : (Today, 06:46 AM) No he wasn't 3rd or 4th
Jetsman05 Icon : (Today, 06:47 AM) He was the 4th favorite in vegas, making him no where near the favorite
Jetsman05 Icon : (Today, 06:47 AM) Barkley had 3/2 odds, Geno was 9-1
Jetsman05 Icon : (Today, 06:48 AM) It's whatever
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (Today, 10:50 AM) Manish leaving jets beat
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (Today, 10:51 AM) About time
SecondHandJets Icon : (Today, 11:22 AM) Was he "not even in the 2nd tier"? No. STFU
Jetsman05 Icon : (Today, 11:25 AM) Was he the favorite?
Jetsman05 Icon : (Today, 11:26 AM) Or even close to the favorite?
Jetsman05 Icon : (Today, 11:27 AM) Nice Manish leaving? Good shit
HarlemHxC814 Icon : (Today, 11:43 AM) SHJ, your boy EJ leads a very sad life
Jetsman05 Icon : (Today, 11:57 AM) haha why do you say that
HarlemHxC814 Icon : (Today, 12:03 PM) I'm friends with SHJ on Facebook and I replied "TEH KNICKS" then EJ recognized my name and started commenting saying shit
HarlemHxC814 Icon : (Today, 12:04 PM) He then goes "yeah and f*** the Knicks" I wanted to tell him he doesn't know what that joke is because he's banned

SecondHandJets Icon : (Today, 01:56 PM) He didn't bring anything to the table
Jetsman05 Icon : (Today, 02:38 PM) how can you say that? you supported the f*** out of him

I know this is off topic, but I cant stand it. Does anybody else feel that James Dolan and Isiah Thomas ruined the Knicks?

My dad has been blatantly fighting the losing battle about how horrible IT really is. Dolan is a moron who cares only about the money in his pocket... he should sell the team. IT is probably the worst GM in the NBA trading away their future for a bunch of shitty players, Gayphon Marbury included. He's a loser with an unjustified attitude problem.

Bottom line, IT is now coaching as well as GM and whatever other title he's given himself. Prepare for another shitty season and a LONG LONG LONG road back. They made all the wrong moves getting rid of Gundy and they've never recovered since.

The funny thing is David Stern recommended that Dolan fire IT and hire a man he was recommending b/c as the commish, as horrible as he has been at it, he's seen all the stupid things IT has done. You know what Dolan's response was? "How dare he tell me how to run my franchise." He's a douche and the Knicks are gonna be losers for a long time, it's unfortunate but true.

Yes I do. They hired Larry Brown to coach a team that he didn't think could go anywhere and now they've fired him for it. The only good thing that will come of this is that Isiah will get nothing but heat as a headcoach and will probably be fired after next season.

Yea this is just a huge f***ing mess. I cant stand that Larry Brown isnt going to get a legitimate shot to coach the knicks. Dolan needs to sell the team and Isiah needs to get the f*** out of NY, its rediculous. All he has done is run the Knicks into the ground....Eddie Curry for a #2 overall pick...hmmm...what a bargain for a fat ass who is soft on D.

I was checking in to post this very same topic. Here are the facts as we know them:

1. Knicks have the highest payroll in the NBA.
2. Knicks hire a coach for five years at $50M a year.
3. Knicks trade their #1 pick to get an okay young center, and said pick turns out to be #2 in the draft.
4. Knicks finish with the second worst record in the NBA.
5. Knicks have perhaps the most unbalanced team in the NBA.
6. Knicks fire a coach with four years left on his contract costing the organization $40M.

So let's assume you have a job. You spend more money than anyone doing your job. All that money gets you the second worst product of anyone doing your job. You pay someone $10M, which contributes to you having the second worst product. You then piss away $40M. And what does this get you?

Why a promotion of course! This has got to be one of the most insane things I've ever seen in Sports. What a joke the Knicks have become. They need to blowup.gif

Knicks fire Larry Brown
BY GREG LOGAN
Newsday Staff Correspondent

June 22, 2006, 11:46 AM EDT

Knicks owner James Dolan finally put an end to the Larry Brown era after just one ill-fated season when he fired the 65-year-old Hall of Fame coach for cause Thursday morning at the team's training facility. Claiming they owe Brown none of the remaining $40 million on his contract because he violated club policy, the Knicks are calling upon NBA commissioner David Stern to arbitrate the dispute.

The Knicks signed Brown to a five-year deal worth $50 million last July, but after a controversial season in which the Knicks went 23-59 to tie the franchise record for losses in a single season, reports surfaced more than five weeks ago that Dolan wanted to buy out Brown's contract. Team president Isiah Thomas will replace Brown on the bench, it was announced yesterday in a press release, but there was no news conference.

In a statement, Dolan said of Brown: "We hired him last summer with the expectation that he would be with the Knicks for a long time. Sometimes decisions work, and sometimes they don't. Despite the best intentions of everyone involved, this current structure did not work for us last season, and I did not think it was going to improve next season."

Thomas also released a statement in which he said: "No one in our organization is happy with last season, and we all accept responsibility for our performance. Today begins the 2006-07 season for the Knicks, and I strongly believe we are on the right track to take major steps in our rebuilding process to achieve our goal of being one of the premier teams in the NBA. Larry Brown is a great coach, but for various reasons, bringing him to the Knicks did not turn out the way we hoped."

Brown left the training complex around 9:45 a.m. and was not immediately available for comment.

This marks the first time in Brown's storied 34-year coaching career in the NBA, ABA and college that he failed to produce at least one winning season during his tenure and to leave a team in better shape than when he took over. When Brown asked Thomas to make a major roster changes after the season, Thomas resisted, saying the cost would be prohibitive for a team with a $125 million payroll that is the highest in the league by far.

Brown asked for a meeting with Dolan, who promised last summer to make the changes necessary to give the coach the players he wanted. But the owner was upset with Brown for, in his view, endorsing trades for Jalen Rose and Steve Francis and then quickly souring on them. He also was angry with Brown's constant criticism of the roster, which he felt devalued the Knicks' players on the open market.

Dolan declined to meet with Brown for the past five weeks, and the organization treated him like a pariah, forcing him to run workouts for college draft prospects but otherwise ignoring him. When Thomas and Brown were together at the recent NBA pre-draft camp, they didn't speak to each other at all.

A person familiar with details of Brown's firing yesterday said Dolan was prepared to retain Brown if he liked what he heard and if Brown agreed to abide by certain restrictions. But the meeting went badly, and the decision was made to let Brown go.

Citing a clause in Brown's contract that requires him to follow club policy, the Knicks will seek arbitration with Stern. They believe he acted beyond the perameters of his coaching position in attempting to make trades and also violated media policy by talking to reporters outside the presence of a team public relations person.

Brown's Woodmere-based agent Joe Glass repeatedly said there would be no buyout negotiations, meaning the Knicks would have to fire Brown and pay him the remaining $40 million. Last summer, Brown received $7 million of his remaining $21 million from Detroit even though the Pistons knew he was in line for a richer contract with the Knicks.

Considering the Knicks paid forward Shandon Anderson $19 million of the remaining $22 million on his deal when they bought him out two years ago, it's hard to imagine Brown walking away with much less than he's owed.

No, you read it right... Stern sucks. He's almost as bad as Selig. Of course that's just my humble opinion.... not so humble at times though.

Na Stern is alright, he runs a smooth ship. I meant to say Larry Brown ISNT getting a legit shot @ the knicks. Isiah is just pissed cause Larry Brown implied that he is a shitty GM, which he is. Now he gets to be a shitty coach. Fire Isiah, then assassinate dolan...hes a dickhead, and his band sucks.

It was a big brouhaha on the Steven A. show, I forget the name. Steven A asked Stephon Marbury who was a better point guard him or Kidd, and Marbury said himself because he is bigger which he isn't, stronger, which he isn't, faster which even after two knee surgeries he isn't, and a better passer. Yes he said he was a more prolific passer. The only thing Marbury has on Kidd is the outside jumper and only by a little bit. So, the next day or so Kidd came on the Steven A. show and reputed Marbury and basically called him an idiot. I got a great laugh out of it.
