Jets S Erik Coleman will face competition for his starting job from 2006 third-round pick Eric Smith this season.

Coleman, who has recorded 100+ tackles in each of his three seasons, temporarily lost his job to Derrick Strait in 2006 and failed to make as many big plays. Smith is a heady reserve and favorite of Eric Mangini.

It would be awesome to see Leonard Peters come in and own shit. I won't be counting on it, but you never know.

I do think he'll be a real solid special teamer this year though.

Like I said before Leonard Peters may be raw but he was a few seconds to slow to be an early pick (due to injury) and a couple of pounds to light as well to be an early selection, IMO. As much as Mangini likes to mold and refine talent this cat has some serious ability to be a good player in this league. With experience and time I think he can do some damage. Erik Coleman better step his game up.

I like the guy but he gets injured way too much. I'm not sure he'll even make the team but hey... whatever. I like Smith, he makes plays.
