Does it seem that draft picks in madden 2006 turn into good players and quickly. For example, I picked a center in the late 2nd round, he started out at a 82. After a year at not playing at all he turns into a 91. About 2 years earlier I pick a SS in the 7th round. In about 2 years at playing a little bit he turns into a 95. Then I pick a guy who is a 62 and after a year of not playing he becomes a 79. Does this happen too anyone else?

I have Madden 2005 and when I pick a first rounde they start at like 72 and I don't play them much and they become like a75 after starting a whole season, so maybe it's just Madden trying to improve on draft picking, but they just screwed up.

Talking 05 here:
No I think it is the way the game goes. If a guy starts out in the 80ish range he has a good shot at storming up to 90 with two seasons. But I never got anything out of players who were less than 75, which means anyone drafted after the third (maybe even second) round.
I have a lot of issues with Madden's draft, for the reasons above and several others (some of which I have gone over). But what bothers me about rookies rated below 80 never being able to develop into anything is that only a couple dozen (tops) guys in each draft are rated better than 80. In my experience, once you get past the ten year mark, and players currently in the game start retiring, there seems to be a real lack of star players. Most teams seem to be squeaking by with average players and there are almost no studs anywhere. Since I get to train my guys in the trainingcamp mode I have people who are rated over 90 and so I tend to have a huge advantage in actual talent.
Maybe that is just what I have encountered and it is something I'm doing, but I think that is just the way the game goes.

I think in 06 it might have something too do with the guys who are in front of them. For example, the guys who started in front of them where both rated 95 or better, both had exprice in the NFL with could of made a different. Also the guy who I picked with my first pick (32) was a 77 then he started for me and went down to a 76.

That happens in a lot of games. In 2k5 I picked a QB 1st overall and was an 80 and started right away. He had 2 pro bowl seasons and only went up to an 82 but I picked up a free agent TE who was an 82 and a year later with barely no stats (he started but I didn’t throw to him much) he was a 99.
I haven’t got that far In madden yet
