In February of 2006 a "tell us about yourself" thread was started within the Big Dog Cigar Bar. Amoung the several members who wrote about themselves was NightOwlTom. The following was NightOwlTom's Post about himself.....
My name is Tom and I'm 49. I was born and raised in Mass. and still live there. I first started following the Patriots in 1963 when I was 7 and have been hooked ever since. I went to Harvard and Suffolk Universities and have owned my own rare coin auction house for over 20 years. It's a great life flying around the country a couple of times each month to trade shows in nice areas buying rare coins for my clients. I have a great marriage that's going strong after 27 years and life would be gold except for recently being diagnosed with colon cancer. Unfortunately I probably will never see 60 years old but I have no regrets as life has been very good to me, I've been able to accomplish everything I set out to do and after several decades of futility I got to see my Patriots finally win it all. And do it again--and again.
I won't be going anywhere for quite awhile yet so don't get your hopes up--lol. And I'm still buying green bananas

Shortly after this post Tom passed away from Colon Cancer. I can personally tell you, along with many of the original members of this site that Tom was a a true gentlemen and an asset to any site he belonged to.
In 2005 he was voted "2005 Best Non-Jets Poster", which showed, even as a Patriots fan, how loved and appreciated he was on this site. He had over eleven hundred posts full of insight and knowledge, and while he loved the Pats, he was always the first to congradulate us on a Jets victory.
For some time now the Moderators and some older members have been trying to decide how to honor Tom on this site. We have decided to rename The Big Dog Cigar Bar in his honor. He enjoyed that forum and on any given night you could run into him trolling the posts.
So far we've come come up with:
"
The Nightowl Pub "
or
"
Night Owl's Pub"
So before we change it, if anyone else has any suggestions please post them here? Thank you
Fifteen years ago after an especially disappointing loss to Miami, Esiason, then the Jets' quarterback, was making the seven-mile drive from the Meadowlands back to Manhattan.
While he was slogging through stop-and-go traffic at the entrance to the Lincoln Tunnel, the car next to him was violently rear-ended. The quarterback threw his car into park, hopped out and ran to the woman whose car had been hit. She was wearing, of all things, an Esiason jersey, and was utterly shocked when he tapped on her window to check on her.
"Are you OK?" he said, trying to keep calm. "Are you OK?"
"Boomer? Is that you?" she asked the Good Samaritan, sounding disoriented. "I think I'm OK, but . ... "
But what?
"But you guys sucked."
Welcome to the New York Jets, Tim Tebow.
