You gotta be kidding if you're saing the Yankees have no future. While it certainly ain't as good as the Mets' it's still good.
But before I start, WTF is up with Mets fans and Jose Reyes??? He's a career .272 hitter and is right now at .246. The guy can steal bases and field, that's it. I can't believe there are people that actually think he is better than Derek Jeter. Sure he is fast and exciting, but he doesn't produce, he's like Mike Vick, nothing more than a highlight reel (but hot damn, your other highlight reel, David Wright, is the REAL deal. Next best 3rd baseman and poissibly the next best infielder in all of baseball).
Anyway, they Yanks do actually have a future. Melky Cabrera is starting to show something with the bat, though he is hitting a medicore at best .277, it's something to build on for a rookie.
Andy Phillips is looking like the future at first base. A good .284 and 4 HRs is rather good for a player with not even 150 career ABs. He's REALLY made strides this year and I can't wait to see what he can do as he gets better.
Scott Proctor's ERA has gone down over 2 runs since last year, and I'm pretty confident in him as the setup man for Mariano and his successor too.
Now I don't think he's gonna play much at all even with all the outfield injuries, but Kevin Thompson, though only in 5 ABs, is fairly good. Has got 2 hits (.400 BA), .600 slugging, a double, and 3 RBI. Let him gain some experience in Columbus and he could himself starting a few games next year.
Now don't get me started on this guy, because I can go on forever. But Robinson Cano, this guy is the future at second base. I personally think he has the potential to win a batting title, and this guy is most definetly gonna earn him an all-star spot or 2 in his career. Hitting a solid .313 right now, this guy is can be a #2 or #5, and if gets some speed, a leadoff guy.
Chien-Ming Wang is another guy I'm really excited about. He's 6-2 right now and looking good. Should only get better with experience.
Not to mention, A-Rod is still only 30 and Jeter is only 31, so with Cano, Jeter, and A-Rod along with Jason Giambi/ Phillips in our infield for the next few years, I'm good.
