MikeGangGree... Icon : (01 January 2017 - 04:00 PM) J-E-T-S JETS JETS JETS!
MikeGangGree... Icon : (01 January 2017 - 05:56 PM) OK so Bill O brien and Sean Payton might get fired according to Fox this morning
MikeGangGree... Icon : (01 January 2017 - 05:56 PM) I would do anything to get one of them as OC
santana Icon : (02 January 2017 - 02:19 PM) texans coach? i doubt he gets fired
santana Icon : (02 January 2017 - 02:19 PM) but he would be ideal if the jets were to flush bowles out
santana Icon : (02 January 2017 - 04:36 PM) http://www.nj.com/je...trol_of_je.html
azjetfan Icon : (05 January 2017 - 09:54 PM) Sean Payton will get another HC gig. Obrien would be good.
azjetfan Icon : (09 January 2017 - 11:18 PM) Howard from Alabama seems legit. #88 TE
azjetfan Icon : (09 January 2017 - 11:20 PM) Williams the WR from Clemson looks like they are out to get him. He has taken some huge hits
vjdbbq Icon : (10 January 2017 - 07:12 AM) We'll take Williams in the first round .
Chadforpresi... Icon : (10 January 2017 - 10:48 AM) I'd love Howard in the 2nd round if he's still there. I like Williams a lot as well, but I just don't see WR being big enough of a need, and there should be better talent on the board at 6
Jetsfan115 Icon : (10 January 2017 - 07:21 PM) Raiders OC Musgrave not expected to return to OAK. what do you think about getting him? he did wonders with the oakland offense this year
Chadforpresi... Icon : (10 January 2017 - 07:39 PM) Definitely an appealing choice given with his history of progressing Carr. We need someone with a track record of grooming young QBs
MikeGangGree... Icon : (12 January 2017 - 12:36 PM) I want Watson now! after what he did Monday night I'm sold on him at QB. He moved the ball all night on Alabama and after hurts scored that TD he just told his team "Lets end this"
Jetsfan115 Icon : (12 January 2017 - 06:31 PM) An Ohio prosecutor says he wants to know what punishment Cincinnati Bengals player Adam "Pacman" Jones faces from the NFL before deciding how to proceed over Jones' latest arrest, Dan Sewell of the Associated Press reports..

Hamilton County Prosecutor Joe Deters tells WKRC-TV he's asking "what is the normal" for a player with multiple offenses and who's been suspended before.

An NFL spokesman said on Thursday that Jones' case is "under review" and declined to comment further.

Jones was jailed Jan. 3 on charges he head-butted police and spit on a nurse after his arrest for assault. Authorities say he was so combative he had to be placed in a restraint chair.

Jones says he anticipates the charges will be dismissed.
Jetsfan115 Icon : (12 January 2017 - 06:32 PM) we wont get watson. he's going 1st overall to the browns
azjetfan Icon : (12 January 2017 - 09:06 PM) Is Watson a product of Clemson's staff and supporting cast? Taj Boyd also put up some decent numbers if I remember correctly but he couldn't even make a scout team in the NFL.
azjetfan Icon : (12 January 2017 - 09:11 PM) From what I have read (although limited) he is not the highest ranked QB in the draft.
azjetfan Icon : (12 January 2017 - 09:11 PM) "No quarterback in this draft -- not Mitch Trubisky, not Watson, not DeShone Kizer -- is considered a sure thing. The folks at Scouts Inc. rank Trubisky, Watson and Kizer as the 21st, 38th and 46th prospects on their big board, respectively." ESPN
azjetfan Icon : (12 January 2017 - 09:12 PM) If we can get a decent return for Richardson we may be able to make a move into the mid teens to early 20s if the Brass really likes Watson.
azjetfan Icon : (12 January 2017 - 09:13 PM) Personally I don't think the jets have a clue on who they will take. We still have to hit FA and manage our roster
azjetfan Icon : (12 January 2017 - 11:46 PM) Jets to interview Broncos assistant Studesville for OC
Jetsfan115 Icon : (13 January 2017 - 01:28 PM) Why? seems like a weird choice
Jetsfan115 Icon : (13 January 2017 - 01:29 PM) Leonard Williams replacing Khalil Mack in Pro Bowl
Chadforpresi... Icon : (13 January 2017 - 09:49 PM) I'm not buying Watson, even after that championship game. Dude threw too many picks in his day
Chadforpresi... Icon : (13 January 2017 - 09:49 PM) I'm really curious to see what we get for Richardson, but I have a bad feeling his value is at an all time low between his crap season and bad attitude
azjetfan Icon : (14 January 2017 - 12:16 AM) I agree. He is a first round talent but a fourth round headache. We will be lucky to get a 2nd
Chadforpresi... Icon : (14 January 2017 - 08:41 AM) Yeah precisely. 2nd rounder would be a huge stretch. 3rd or 4th is more likely
vjdbbq Icon : (14 January 2017 - 02:18 PM) Send Sheldon someplace he will never see the playoffs ; like Jacksonville ; then he will have time to find da ho's .
azjetfan Icon : (14 January 2017 - 07:25 PM) R Sherman is getting torched by the Falcons.
vjdbbq Icon : (16 January 2017 - 09:37 AM) Pats vs Pitt - root for injuries
Jetsfan115 Icon : (16 January 2017 - 12:36 PM) GB-ATL game is gonna be a hell of a shootout. that throw rodgers made on 3rd and 20 with 12 seconds left in a tied game was ridiculous. 35 yards rolling out to his left a perfect placed ball on the sideline.
azjetfan Icon : (16 January 2017 - 10:50 PM) Winters resigned to 4 year deal. $7 million per year
Chadforpresi... Icon : (16 January 2017 - 10:51 PM) Seems like a slightly steep price but overall cool with it, he's turned into a good player and is still young. Just needs to stay healthy.
Jetsfan115 Icon : (17 January 2017 - 04:12 PM) seems like a good deal. they were saying he could have earned over 8 million in the open market
vjdbbq Icon : (18 January 2017 - 08:12 AM) Where's Rob ?
vjdbbq Icon : (18 January 2017 - 08:12 AM) Is he looking for a new ass ?
vjdbbq Icon : (18 January 2017 - 08:12 AM) :saythat:

Jetsfan115 Icon : (18 January 2017 - 01:32 PM) 4 years 29 mil 15 mil guarenteed. so 7.25mil a year for winters. a nice bargain. he took a hometown discount. seems like a good guy. well done winters and mac
Jetsfan115 Icon : (18 January 2017 - 04:33 PM) Jets hire Dennard Wilson as defensive backs coach
Jetsfan115 Icon : (19 January 2017 - 04:01 PM) Trump to name Jets' owner Woody Johnson U.K. ambassador

Size...this is why our run defense is weak...this is why Vilma can't run free...this is our OLB's can't get as much pressure as they might...this is why our secondary is forced to cover for so long...this is why our defense can't get off the field...

Take a look at these successful 3-4 defensive lines...than take a look at our's...

Dallas Cowboys

LE - 6'4" 300
NT - 6'3" 310
RE - 6'7" 300

San Diego Chargers

LE - 6'3" 290
NT - 6'3" 348
RE - 6'6" 309

New England Patriots

LE - 6'5" 300
NT - 6'2" 325
RE - 6'6" 310

New York Jets

LE - 6'5" 285
NT - 6'1" 317
RE - 6'4" 295

We need to average atleast over 300 pounds. The Patriot's starters average 312 pounds. The Chargers average 316 pounds. Our defensive line averages 299 pounds. It all starts up front...we solidified the offensve by rebuilding the offensive line in last year's draft. Now we need to solidify the defense by rebuilding the defensive line.

Shaun Ellis is really around 295, he gained up around there last offseason. But yea we really need to get bigger. Our next DE, needs to be 295+ I would like a guy that is like 310. How much does that guy Carriker weigh? He is like 295 right? He could gain up to 305.
Thats why I hate when people say Vilma should be traded, when there is smaller ILBs in 3-4. Its the guys up front that matters, plus Vilma proved the last 3 weeks of this season that he can be a all pro LB in the 3-4, when he made a shit load of plays.

I don't think size is the problem. Well, not the biggest problem. The problem is twofold. First, even though Dewayne did improve vastly as the season went on, he's just not a NT. It's not his game. He's good at getting to the QB, not eating up blockers. And two, Kimo. Kimo was just awful this year and there is no way he is the starter next year. Whether it's Dewayne at DE with a new NT or Dewayne at NT(with more experience) with a new DE, I fully expect the line to be better next year.

LOL, you're 9 months late, sort of. This is when some (obviously myself included) thought we could try and have D-Rob as a DE in the 3-4. I wonder if that would work. http://nyjetsfan.com...topic=11302&hl=

Haha...looks like you're way ahead of the game Chadforprez. I've been calling for D Rob to DE since last season too. Just made this topic becaus so many people have been saying we need linebackers and trade Vilma and this and that...but if we fix the line we fix a lot of the defense.

MAYBE (big maybe, just a thought) we should move kimo to NT and either sign a DE, draft a DE or move robertson to DE, didnt they play him their once and he did pretty good, or we could just start bobby hamilton at DE and shaun ellis

Nope...Kimo is a goner...or atleast not a starter. Keep him around for his team attitude and experience maybe...

But I don't think the answer to our defensive line problem is currently on the roster...the answer to our DE problem is however...Dewayne Robertson...

when robertson was drafted he was billed as the next warren sapp. now he never lived up to that when we were running the 4-3 but now that hes a nose in the 3-4 he has no shot at pass rushing. his size and skill set really play towards a 3-4 end and im really excited to see what he can do there. if we found a big body in the middle and with ellis and robertson at end, i believe we'd have one of the better defensive lines in the league and that will greatly help our linebackers

Size isn't everything but when you look at the main area of the dline all the stellar defenses have that N.T stud/space eater. The Cowboys 3-4 is weak and leaky. But the Chargers,Pats and Steelers all have that big nasty N.T. We will not be successful untill we have won. Ellis is still a big guy and good for the 3-4 but we need an OLB and N.T. BAD!!!

We played D.Rob at DE schematically this year.

The Cowboys 3-4 is good, they stuff the run like all the time. They just cant defend the pass, when teams bring 4 WRs out and spread their defense. Otherwise they were big in the middle and stuffed the run.

If only we had a NT that demanded to be doubled teamed. We must stop the run and let J-vilma roam free.
Does the goose have a brother? lol just a joke.

What about these prospects for NT in the upcoming draft?

Amobi Okoye-6-1 317
Paul Soliai-6-4 334
Stanley Doughty-6-1 331

I wouldnt mind taking Amobi in the first round at all, he is only 20, was a 16 year old freshmen and has tons of potiential to be a huge NT.

I've thought about that...but chances are with his unwarranted, massive draft hype...Okoye will be gone by 25. So chances are no...but I'd like to have him.

I'm still holding out on Tui coming back and dominating as a NT...it's gonna happen ladies!!! I'm telling you...it's gonna happen!!!

But it isn't only about size...Robertson has the size...almost...he just doesn't have the style required to be a NT. You know that...he's a pass rusher not a run stopper. You need a space eating, gap clogging guy at NT....D Rob isn't that.

Plus Okoye is only 19 and can most likely easily put on a lot more weight.

Maybe in 4 years he could be...but he's the farthest thing from a polished prospect. We already have a project player...he's called Tui Alierakufjsadfjabsfnsafda something...

EDIT - I just checked the Jets roster...Tui is nowhere to be found...he isn't on NFL.com...apparently...we should all stop thinking about Tui.

Pouha...however...is still there...let's hope he makes an impact next year...

i think we definitely should use our first rounder on a 3-4 DE this draft. we should definitely draft adam carriker since he would definitely make our dline a lot bigger:

LE- ellis 6'5 290
NT- robertson 6'1 320
RE- carriker 6'6 300

considering lynch will be gone by our first rounder, it has to be carriker in the first round. if carriker's stock has dropped, and lynch is gone, we can go woodley in the first then carriker in the second. however, LB isn't as big of a need as the dline. we do need another pass rush from the OLB spot bc hobson will eventually move inside when barton is cut in a couple of years. we need to address DLine, RB, OLB in that order this draft and what is tricky is that there probably won't be any one worth it at RB by our own 2nd round pick via trade/draft so we might need to use the first on a RB via trade/draft and draft spencer with our own 2nd rounder which i would be happy with.

Tui is on the team, they put him on IR, so he is there. Remember? He may not be listed because he is a pratice squad kind of guy. But yea, I really like Tui, he did good in the preseason games and in training camp, he is a big man that can move around and uses his hands well. He may be a good NT, but if we have the chance for Okoye then we have to take it. He is a high risk high reward kind of guy with all the potiential he has. Hopefully he will fall, but DTs usually go fast, but they said he is perfect for NT in the 3-4.

Hopefully he will fall, but DTs usually go fast, but they said he is perfect for NT in the 3-4.

Nope...I checked every roster list on newyorkjets.com...

He isn't on the Injured Reserve List...

He isn't on the Practice Squad List...

He isn't anywhere...I'm assuming he's out of football...

Pouha is on the injured reserve list...but Tui isn't...
