Selective Reading? You don't seem to understand that using a racial slur is ALWAYS derogatory whther or not its directed to a member of the victim race.

Petty? This isn't petty. This is a matter of respect for others, most importantly a culture. I have said the "n" word maybe once or twice, either quoting lyrics or a movie, but I know BLACK people who have never said that word, so why would you assume that I have said it.
