2008 Pro Football Prospectus has this to say about Royal:
One of the worst starters in the NFL at any position. Royal has hands like patio blocks, fumbles too many of the passes he does catch, and gets flagged too often to justify his rep as a blocking tight end.
**now that is harsh...

To tell you the truth...that report doesn't really concern me.
Royal HAD to be used as a receiving TE for Buffalo had no other option on the team. And with young, inexperienced QB in Edwards having to throw many TE passes because that is the safest and easiest choice for young QBs....Royal had to be thrust into that role.
Now, put him in his more OPTIMAL role....as a blocking TE...since we have Keller as the receiving TE....he should be more then fine. And a blocking TE is exactly what we need.
And, not for nothing...with all the report of "bad hands"....dude still had 80 receptions & 7 TDs in the last 3 years. Mostly red zone scores

I agree...We are looking for a blocking TE, that can slip out for a pass once in a while...
I wonder how far the FO and Royal are off dollar wise? I feel that he is our best option, and hope that he comes back for another visit(unless he was signed and I missed it)....and sign a contract. That would be one more hole filled before the draft.
The more holes filled before the draft, the more of a luxery the draft becomes for Rex to go after the BPA...if he believes in that theory like alot of successful orginizations do...
