What Would Be Smarter To Do??

overall physical fitness usually combines the two... cardiovascular system and the muscles of the body functioning properly and at their peak is ideal for any human being, this leads to less illness and more overall health...
between the two though it really is personal preference... there is tons of research saying you should build muscle for this that and the other reason, and losing weight is not really ideal... in fact they just found that people who wer in the 25-30% bmi range actually had less health related deaths than people with a bmi under 25%... bmi is a foolishthing IMO because it does not factor in muscle... anyway enough rants...
you stop losing muscle at a certain age so for your older self you may want to build muscle now and more importantly live a healthy lifestyle (eat right and exercise)... the only benefit of being skinny in the long run is you put less strain on your joints (ie gravity and body mass pushing down on the knee, ankle, hip, what have you)
im sure you will be fine... if you have a more specific question i would be glad to answer that as well

I would recommend this. Eat like a pig, eat lots of carbs and protein while working out, if you wanna gain muscle you are gonna gain weight. Then when you gained your ideal weight you should begin cutting down, by cutting out your carbs and doing more cardio stuff. My suggestion is 8 months pumping big weight, then 4 months cutting down ( preferrably in the summer time, cause when you take your shirt off the girls will see every muscle on your body) But don't worry about gaining fat, it is gonna happen, it is almost necassary when you are trying to gain muscle unless you are on steriods. If you take roids then you can gain muscles while staying cut at the same time, but I would not recommend anyone doing that.

Hello, I am a new member and also a personal trainer. I would suggest that you gain LEAN MUSCLE MASS! That will fire up your metabolism and keep you healthy and fit! WORK HARD and be consistent!

Muscle weighs more then fat! therefore do not use the scale as the criteria for good health. LOSE the weight! That is mandatory but eat a good diet with a proper balance of CARBS, FAT, PROTEIN and build muscle. Muscle stokes your metabolism so you can eat more. But make sure what you eat is great food.
