S-Dubb made me think for a moment with one of his replies in another thread. He mentioned fate. It very well could be. I decided to do some research on the last time we really felt this good as Jets fans. I don't know about you, but I feel a final game chant of "One More Year" coming on again this year with the chant being for Favre rather than Parcells this time.
Anyway.........check this out.
1998 was the last time this team looked this good. It's funny that in Week 12 of the 1998 season we played the Tennessee Titans when our record was nearly identical to this year's with the only difference being that we were 7-4 that year & 7-3 this year. Outcome of that game? 24-3 Jets victory. SAME margin of victory against the same team during the same week of the NFL schedule. 21 pts. Week 12 against the Titans.
We had a let down in Denver in '98. This week it's their turn to come to our house. Will fate allow us to exorcise the demons of our past? We lost by 13 by a score of 23-10. I want to see at least that kind of lopsided victory for us this week. If we win by 13, then one has to wonder how deep our playoff run will be.
Just a seed to plant in everyone's heads & get everyone thinking. Can we as Jets fans really afford to start thinking SB or should we have tempered enthusiasm to avoid the AFC Championship letdown again? I, for one, will take Dubb's advice & just enjoy the ride without thinking SB. Too many coincidences to take into consideration before throwing the celebrations.

that is about the smartest thing that could be said about the current jets situation. Just a note to those who for some reason missed the game sunday: NFL network is replaying the game at 8pm this evening. I will be watching as I had to view on laptop with a slow stream because I live near Miami.

Please, for the love of Curtis Martin, as fans, let's take this thing one week at a time. I propose a one week ban for anyone who mentions the S word before the P word starts...
