RetireChrebet Icon : (17 July 2014 - 03:03 AM) My main concern this season is the quarterback play, he or they need to limit turnovers. Simple as that. Also curious to see what we get out of the secondary. If the two aforementioned play decent football this year it should be a very good season.
Mr_Jet Icon : (17 July 2014 - 01:24 PM) Football has been gone so long it feels like the Super Bowl was over a year ago. And we still have about 6 weeks to go before the season starts.

<h2 id="post-19005">Franchise tag for Lewis will cost Ravens</h2> Posted: February 10th, 2009 | Adam Schefter | Tags: Baltimore Ravens, Ray Lewis

From the moment the season ended, speculation about Ray Lewis’ future began. Some think he will be back in Baltimore, others think he could move to Dallas or the New York Jets.

new nfl.widgets.VideoPlayer({ contentId: "09000d5d80e953f8", related: "home", adSetting: "1", playerName: "blog_embedded", size: "inline", uniqid: "09000d5d80e953f8"}) There are many questions, but one fact is that if Baltimore opts to slap its franchise tag on Lewis, his salary would be higher than any other linebacker that has ever played the game. It would be a whopping $11,313,600, not the $8,304,000 that previously has been widely reported.

It is $11.313 million because the franchise number must either be the average of the top five players at the position or 120 percent of a player’s prior year salary — whichever is greater. In Lewis’ case, the 120 percent raise from last year’s salary is greater.

If Baltimore franchises Lewis, the correct number is $11,313,600.

At this point in his career, isn't Lewis going be to more likely to give the Ravens a hometown discount? I don't really see him chasing dollars because he's been consistently paid as one of the highest earning LBers in the league throughout his career.

Undoubtedly he'd be a great addition, considering his ability and relationship with Rex, but there are certainly going to be cheaper, long term possibilities available.

He already said he isn't going to take a discount. I saw him saw it on NFL.com in a interview, said that "I'm not going to play less so I'm not taking less" something like that,.

at this point he will play wherever he wants to. he doesn't need to take money and he can give a hometown discount if he wants to be a raven. or he can opt to play for ryan

Not only does Lewis bring the fire and passion. He lives for football. Watches so much film, which he will drag other guys into the film room with him. Why do you think alot of the people that play with and beside him turn into solid players? He helps more than just his own numbers.
