So I said OK come get me nad bring me to the court house. (they are required in AZ to do so if requested). Needless to say I was excused.

Sad moment. I expected the death. But still hurts me when I first heard it. I cancelled all plans I had for tonight. As a catholic, I cant see myself in the clubs tonight. I'm sad.

May he rest in peace. He was a good man and the world will miss him. sad.gif

I just want to put an idea out. Do u think the next pope will be black or a latino? I think its time for a change and the Vatican should move on to a more diverse view for the Church.

As far as the next Pope, I really don't care about the race of the next Pope. But it's been said for years that one of the favorites to be the next Pope is one of Pope John Paul's best friend who is African from Nigeria. The fact that most of Africa is moving toward Catholic faith, might make him the right choice. But who knows. There's an Italian and a German that are candidates also.

I'm not Catholic, but my heart go out to him. To say I respect him is an understatement. I'm part of a similar religion, Greek Orthodox, where it is almost exactly the same. Not following the Pope is probably one of a few differences. But, I watch CNN, Fox News, ect., and I hear all these beautiful things that makes me be proud I'm closely following a religion, especially one so similar to Catholism, and that any "criticisms" against organized religion is false in my world b/c it is so beautiful. Pope John Paul II was the epitome of the idea of spreading goodwill toward people through religion, and that is a great idea. He was a great being that will be loved forever, and deservedly so.

His death will make things very interesting for the vatican. There are many cardinals pushing for a more liberal pope which would mean a significant amount of change in the church. For ezample liberal priests want to be able to have a family

Ah, one of the more interesting aspects of this whole ordeal. I know there are 9 days of mourning for the pope's death. Then, what they call, a conclave happens. Every Catholic Cardinal (highest rank before Pope) 80 or younger get together and choose a Catholic male who hasn't been married to the position of Pope. This will most likley be a Cardinal.

What's facinating about this is that the Cardinals are from all over the world (117 will participate). And they will be locked inside the Sistene Chapel with no communication to the outside until a Pope is announced.

We will know by the middle of the month. It just so happens that a friend of mine will take a class trip to Italy in the middle of the month, and could be in the Vatican when they announce the new Pope.

Pope John Paul II was a great man and a great leader, and will surely be missed. I'm not a Catholic, but I have a great respect for the Pope and how he lived his life. He is an inspiration to all people. I'm glad, though, that his suffering is over and that he has moved on to a better place.

RIP

He was a great man whose love and devotion far surpases most men and yet he was still a humble and caring person.

The next Pope may be a South African who has dealt with insurgances and AIDS for years. But we will find out in a few weeks for sure.
I changed my name, but I dont remember what it was... if anyone remembers please let me know.
