As a Phillies fan, do I know that my team has won 1 World Series in 123 years of existence? Yep
But God do I love seeing those Yankees lose! Good Job Tigers! No one gave them a chance...and low and behold, the ALCS has a spot reserved for the Detroit Tigers.
No one can tell me that they (as a team) aren't overrated. As a group of players, when you are by far the most paid team in baseball for 5 years...and you cant win the World Series ONCE during that span, you are definately overrated.
As a Phillies fan, let me just introduce you guys to a saying that us Phillies fans have come to trademark and use for 122 years.............
WAIT TIL NEXT YEAR

Its a sad day but Joe Torrii is going to be gone. Here comes the next era and Pennela is the next GM of the Yanks. Yankees will win the WS next year, once we get our pitching staff better. We need to sign Barry Zito.

Ah the age old saying..."Atleast they got there"...because getting to the playoffs is the ultimate goal right? Right now the Phillies are right where the Yankees are...except it was less heartbreaking and much less expensive for us.
I've heard "Here comes number twenty-seven" since 2002...it's going to be 2007 next year. And despite having the highest payroll by alot and the supposed "Best line up ever"...the last 5 seasons have brought you an early exit by a wildcard team that many picked to be swept, a world series loss to a wild card team, the biggest and most notorious collapse in baseball playoff history and two early exits from teams that "Don't have a chance".
There is a reason why the Yankees dont win the World Series anymore...they have no chemistry. All star teams don't work in crunch time and these Yankees teams have proven it.

To add..you guys can bring up the "Well we won 26 World Series'" all you want. How many did you win this year? Because that's what matters...not last year, not 2 years ago...not 1950, not 1920, not 1918. The only thing that matters is what happened THIS SEASON.

I wouldn't be surprised. Hopefully he goes to Florida and can get Dontrelle out of the division.

But trust me, there will be some changes. Now that I think of it, the only players safe in The Boss's hands are Cano, Jeter, Posada, Damon, Abreu, and Rivera. I don't think anyone else is safe.
I'd also personally keep Matsui, Bernie (if he comes back), Wang, Melky, and even A-Rod (unless we can get a REALLY good pitcher, I'm talking like Dontrelle Willis here, as there is a report the Yankees might trade A-Rod to the Marlins after paying off most of A-Rod's salary for Willis).
This is a gurantee though, there will be changes, hopefully in the starting rotation.

They're closer than the Tigers were 3 years ago.
If A-Rod goes to the D-Rays...that will be huge. Players will start to sign with Tampa , knowing that they are on the uprise. Kinda like remember when Ivan Rodriguez signed with the Tigers who lossed 119 games the year before? Now look. Tampa Bay has a good young pitcher they can build around named Scott Kazmir, A-Rod be huge for them.
