So I said OK come get me nad bring me to the court house. (they are required in AZ to do so if requested). Needless to say I was excused.

What We Can Learn From 1995 & 1996! Kotite shouldered all the blame!

Rich Kotite had a 11-5 record in 1991. He also had a 10-6 record in 1992 and an 8-8 record in 1993. After a 7-9 season in 1994, he was fired by the Philadelphia Eagles.

He was hired by the Jets in 1995 (who had a record of 4-12 in 1992, 8-8 in 1993 and 6-10 in 1994). This team was so bad that they had not had a winning season since 1987.

The 1995 draft turned out to be pivotal in Jets history as they had 2 number one picks and instead of drafting a well known defensive tackle named Warren Sapp They chose Kyle Brady. Jets fans were booing all over the world. Rich Haley took over duties of running and organizing the draft after the late general manager Rich Steinberg was diagnosed with stomach cancer in December of 1994. Haley joined the Jets in 1991 as the team director of player personnel and oversaw the Jets' scouts and the evaluation of collegiate player personnel.

The 1995 New York Jets Draft:

1 Kyle Brady Penn State TE
1 Hugh Douglas Central State (OH) DE
3 Matt O'Dwyer Northwestern G
4 Melvin Hayes Mississippi State T
4 Tyrone Davis Virginia WR
5 Carl Greenwood UCLA DB
6 Eddie Mason North Carolina LB
7 Curtis Ceaser Grambling WR

The Jets continued to be active in the free agent market, signing seven unrestricted free agents: QB Bubby Brister, RB-KR Dexter Carter, S Gary Jones and Todd Scott, DT-DE Erik Howard and Matt Brock and CB Otis Smith

The 1996 New York Jets Draft

1 Johnson, Keyshawn WR USC
2 Van Byke, Alex WR Nevada
3 Mickens, Ray DB Texas A&M
4 Choice to Tampa Bay - -
5 Coleman, Marcus DB Texas Tech
6 Hunter, Hugh DE Hampton
7 Hayes, Chris DB Washington State

in 1996, T David Williams was the first player to sign with the Jets as a FA, leading a long line of players that included T John Elliott, QB's Neil O'Donnell and Frank Reich and WR Jeff Graham. (Feb. 15).

Sadly Steinberg died September 1995 prior to the start of the season and the Jets would go on to finish 3-13 behind Bubby Brister and Boomer Esiason. WR's were Wayne Chrebet and Charles Wilson and Ryan Yarborough.

In 1996 the Jets would have their worst season finishing at 1-15. Neil O'Donnell, Frank Reich and Gelnn Foley shared QB duties. Wayne Chrebet, Jeff Graham and Rookie Keyshawn Johnson were the WR's. QB Neil O'Donnell suffered a shoulder injury in game six vs. Oakland and would miss six games due to the injury. He was scheduled to return to action in game 13 vs. Houston, but suffered a torn calf muscle in pregame warmups, sidelining him for the remainder of the season.

And so it goes Rich Kotite having been proclaimed worst coach in Jets History.

Note: I cannot even remember players that were free agent pickups and drafted and most of the starters. Both drafts were conducted by Rich Haley and were the poorest drafts in recent memory. The Jets has 3 coaches in the last 4 years prior to the 1996 season (Bruce Coslet Pete Carroll and Rich Kotite) and all were below .500.

We can learn that if you do not draft well and have an unstable team roster situation, your teams can suffer. In the end, it cost Kotite his career and reputation. Those 2 years defined him as a head coach. Its a shame that he left quietly and took all the blame. I respect him for not placing blame on Haley's drafts and poor personnel selection. He took it like a man! I sure as hell wouldn't!

I'd hate to tell you, but with all the bullshit you have said earlier, well, no one gives a flying *beep* of what you say now, so why don't you go to that better jets fan site.

Class. When you start a fight be prepared for what comes next! Bizkit had no right hopping into my thread and calling it bullshit. An Insult is an insult. There are no varying degrees. I am assuming you want to be the peacemaker. We'll go make peace elsewhere! Your opinions do not matter to me! This is between he and I shitweed! beach.gif

Bizkit deserves some thrashing on this board since he insults everyone he disagrees with, but that was uncalled for. Topic Done.
