Jetsfan0099 Icon : (20 February 2015 - 12:10 PM) if that happens, I think the Jets should go after Shane Vereen. Nice pass catching option out of the backfield, only 25.
Smedsthejet Icon : (20 February 2015 - 04:06 PM) Think Vereen would be a great option...I thought he was one of their best and most valuable performers during the playoffs and we need a back who can contribute in the passing game as well. Jets have been missing that piece since LT retired

Other teams both New York franchises among them have made it known they are interested in Turner. The question is whether one of them will try to entice Turner from Smith before seeing what tender Turner receives.

As a restricted free agent, Turner will get a tender from the Chargers either a second-round, a first-round or a first-and-third-round tender. Those tenders would guarantee him approximately $1.3, $1.8 or $2.5 million, respectively, and require any team signing him to a long-term contract to give the Chargers a corresponding draft pick or picks.

If Smith were to give Turner a first-or second-round tender, it is likely teams would be lining up to try to sign him.

If this is going to be a bidding war then forget this shit. I can already see it happening. A 1st and a 3rd? Oh HELL NAH! I don't want Tanny to get into a bidding war for this guy.

Can we say HYPE TRAIN? He's the best available option, that doesn't mean he's worth 2 draft picks. Let alone a 1st AND a 3rd.

Why would the Giants want Turner so badly? Brandon Jacobs is a bad ass.

iagree.gif It was always going to end up being a bidding war meaning the team who gets him pays way, way over the top for him. There are players available in the draft and FA who will come much cheaper and who are slightly less or equally as talented as Turner.

Jacobs is not an every down back IMO. He's arelief and short yardage back at best.

I don't know about that, to me that guy is a physical specimen. 6-4, 265 lbs running a 4.56 ..... 39 inch vertical ..... that's retarded. Not only that but he's nearly large enough to be a DE. He's an everydown back alright and if the Giants don't like him I'd love for the Jets to take him out of their backfield. He's a physical bruiser and a specimen man! I like freaks of nature biggrin.gif

I had to edit this post twice now because I got mixed up in some figures. Thought that Jacobs ran a 4.4, then a 4.6 .... he didn't. He ran a 4.56.... for a man that size?!?! That's faster than Jerry Rice.

Screw it, let the Giants have him...PLEASE. I don't want to give up a first for Turner. Besides, if they grab Turner, that's one less team that's looking for Lynch.

Yea I think Jacobs is going to be an absolute beast when he touches the ball 25+ per game. Imagine how he will wear down opposing defenses.

I hope the Jets act like they are willing to give up a first, and then let the Giants give there 1st away for him. Turner is not worth a 1st round pick.....

That would be some risk considering it would probably mean we would have to offer him a contract and offer him a deal more than what SD offer him which could be a lot and the Giants may not want to offer him over what we offer, if you get what I mean (that explanation is a bit long winded. crazy.gif ). The Giants may be put off too if the Chargers slap the highest tender on him plus they have Jacobs and are in a position where Lynch could possibly fall to them.

Other than trying to screw the Giants out of a 1st round pick, why would the Jets do that? I mean if the Giants give up a 1st round pick for him then that doesn't effect us at all in any which way. It does however make it harder for the Jets to close the gap on SD who is considered one of the NFL's elite.

yeah but jacobs isn't bad ass. he's not a good runner. matthew hattache was a physical specimen at WR and couldn't maek ti for the jets.
1) jacobs runs way too high. no leverage
2) fumbles too much
3) he scored horrible low on the agility test. they said no back tahts scored that badly on that tets has ever made it in the NFL.
4) bad vision. he runs in a pile instead of wide open holes.

look people cause a guy is big and fats doesn't make him good. workout warrior aren't the players people expect. look at d-rob.

they want turner cause turner can be a very good back in teh league, however i woudln't want to give up more then a 2nd rounder.

Well I don't know that much about him. But losing 1 fumble isn't exactly him being a fumbler. Tiki was a fumbler, Jacobs isn't a fumbler.

However, I like what I see when he blows up the defenders. He punishes them. His average is pretty good too, 4.4 yards per carry with a long of 16 so it shows you that he's pretty much gonna get 4 yards on every carry. That's pretty good man. 9 Rushing TDs, 13.5 yards per catch... he seems productive to me.

he's alot liek barlow actually. just bigger. and 1 lost? who cares if he got lucky that a teammate fell on it. i seen him 3 times in his short career fumble inside the 2 yard line. 1 cots the ginats the game. the other 2 i think the ginats got back. i'm not sure. 90% of his fumbles come in the red zone. thats horible timing. the ginats sem to agree he isn't an every down back., since there chasing turner and if they dont' get turner they'll wind up with lynch

Let's put it this way. You don't get rid of you're 1st round pick if you have such a "specimen" already on you're roster. There's obviously something not so beastly about him.

What exactly has Turner done to be worth a 1st round pick though? IMO the hype surrounding him is making him appear better than he actually is.
