What? He two had average seasons with about 1300 yards in 2005 and around 1200 in 2006. Is that worth a 1st round pick +? Not even close. If we would have gave Leon as many as carries as T.Jones had Leon would have more yards. Leon had around 630 yards in as half as many attempts as T.Jones. I trust the F.O won't make the mistake of trading our valuable picks for the 28 year old Jones.

Now Clinton Portis on the other hand? I don't care what it takes to get him, DO IT!. He can do it all...

I think Thomas Jones is pretty underrated and is a solid RB. I definitely would not give up a first for him though. He is aging and I probably wouldn't give up more than a fourth for him.

Who ever even said to give a first rounder for him????? WTF! He might be a UFA, thats the only time I would go after him, otherwise I want to stay with what we got and draft Brian Leonard for short yards.

I've seen on a few diffrent boards that we should trade our No#1 pick or our 2&3 pick for Jones, which either is insanity.

But Clinton Portis? Hell id throw Washington a #1 pick in a second, but he would cost more than a #25 first rounder.

He is special. The Bears run him and they win sunday. Cedric Benson is useless. The Bears got nowhere with Benson running the ball against the saints. Powerful runner. I'll take him over Micheal Turner any day. But not for a 1st rd pick

he is decent but he defintly wasnt worth the number 7 over all pick that arizona used on him. Id rather have go after portis or turner because of age differences. Jones has been in the NFL for 8 seasons. How much longer can this guy play? I mean if i remember correctly he has finally kicked the injury bug he has had. I mean he is a solid running back but i cant see him having alot of gas in the tank..Since we are a young team id rather go after a long term option via the draft or trade....

I like jones he's a one cut and go kind of guy who can run in between the tackles. And he's a tough runner who's hard to take down I would love to see him in the green and white.

Thanks for the Memories

iagree.gif

Also, for everyone saying the bears will keep jones...ive said this before and ill say it again....they used the #3 pick on benson...if they resign jones for a lot of money that will be a ton of money tied up at one position sign benson's salary is high from his high draft status...and i have liked the way benson has looked in spots this year...he need to develop consistency..but to do that he needs consistent carries...the bears financially cant not give him the chance at that....That said I like jones, but not for what we are trying to accomplish...i think hunt has a similar skill set and we would get him fresh and groom him THE GANG GREEN WAY!!!

FINALLY!!!! A REAL BIG BOY!!!

Why would Chicago even think of giving him up?

Despite getting Benson, Jones has beat him out two straight years and the past two years have been two of the best of his career. Benson got a few more carries down the stretch and impressed and they have proved to be a brilliant 1-2 punch at RB. A lot of teams now are going with two RBs rather than one and Benson and Jones could be like the Saints have with McAllister and Bush, maybe better. Plus you don't hear rumours the Saints are going to get rid of one of them.

Jones will be a Bear next year and it will take more than a 1st rounder for us to prise away a SB running back who basically carried the offense the past two years as Grossman was erratic this year whilst last year the Bears had Kyle Orton at QB most of the season and still wound up in the postseason.

Learn to read. I said average and two season of 1200 yards is average. Use your tiny brain, he has been in the NFL for 7 seasons? And only TWO good seasons? He is coming up on age 29? And Portis is 2 n a half years younger and has been in the NFL for 5 years and 3 of those years he had over 1500 yards rushing, the other one was over 1300 and the last one was low because he got hurt in the pre-season throwing a manly ass block. Id like to see T.Jones put up those numbers, oh wait he can't because he has been a career backup untill 2004 or 2005 rofl.

Learn to be peaceful...no one likes an internet tough guy....

Thomas Jones was stuck in Arizona for the first three years of his career. Outside of his years on the Cardinals...he has averaged 4.3 YPC...and that's plenty good. Especially for a guy who is used to pound the ball repeadetly in an offense with a QB who turns it over at every chance he gets.

We all know what Arizona can do to a RB...that place has been a black hole for RB's for a long time.

Jones was the number 7 overall pick in the 200o draft. He was killer...amazing power combined with his speed and agility made him a big time prospect. I'm not saying he was worthy of being 7th overall...but not every player is lucky enough to fall into the perfect situations. A lot of great player's slip through the cracks because they fell into a bad situation. And on the flip side of that...a lot of mediocre players rise to stardom because they fall into the perfect situation.

I don't think we should go after Thomas Jones...but he is a good RB...and would be a great addition to this team if you took away money and draft picks and just looked at it from a talent point-of-view.

I wasn't trying to be tough, what did I say that came across to be "tough"? He gave me a sarcastic comment, I told him to learn to read, nothing internet thug like. Anyway, yeah he was stuck in Arizona and to his credit that was bad for him but he is now in Chicago, one of the best teams in the leage and all he can muster is a little oer 1200 yards? Im sorry but I would never trade a number 1 pick for that anyday. Or 2.

I would never suggest to trade a 1 for him...but wouldnt for turner either...we need to use that pick on defense too bad....but yeah he had 1210 yds on 296 carries for a 4.1 avg. and 6 td's while only fumbling once....and benson got 157 carries for 647 yards, a 4.1 avg. and 6 td's. So benson got a large chunk of carries and the same amount of td's....who said benson was unproductive??!?! same avg. per carry and same touchdowns and jones got double the carries. Not saying jones would get all of those, but if he were the true feature back this season he would prob be around 1400 and 8-9 td's....not too bad i dont think!

FINALLY!!!! A REAL BIG BOY!!!

micheal turner is the way to go. i would take portis too. i'd sign jones but not trade for him. he's good but at 28 for a RB he isn't worth a 1st day pick.

If Jones isn't worth a 1st then nor is Turner. Jones has proved far, far more in the NFL than Turner and despite his age should command much more when compared with Turner who has done little to show (yes he had LT in front of him) he can handle the load and be an effective starter. All he has proven is that he can come in when LT has worn out the defense and himself and pick up solid yardage which any run of the mill back could do.
Jones has beaten out a #5 overall pick two years in a row after failing to live up to expectations in Arizona and has really resurrected his career and he has carried the Chicago offense the past two years. You trade first rounders for proven young players, not unproven guys who have already had 3 years in the league.

iagree.gif turner is more of a risk in my eyes because he hasnt really faced pressure situations, the chargers obviously give the ball to tomlinson when they need a running game
