Just reported that the plane that crashed into a high rise on 72nd street was registered to current Yankee and former Phillie Cory Lidle. They have also confirmed that a member of the New York Yankees organization was on board.

Ok, I am going to put this before my actual question, because in NO WAY am I minimizing the Lidle incident. It was a tragic accident and I 110% feel terrible for everybody involved and baseball is extremely secondary. With that being said *takes deep breath* here we go. My question is, (might be a dumb question though), since Lidle was just traded to the Yankees and the incident was out of their control, is there some kind of rule that the team would be allowed to some kind of compensation or another to help make the team better? Again, I'm not insensitive toward the whole issue, it was just a question I thought about. That being said.....

The last time I remember a Major Leaguer dying suddenly while still in the Major Leagues was Daryl Kyle so check back to that to see what happened.

Interesting idea, but I doubt it.
