So with windows 7 coming out in October this year, what do you guys think. we all know vista sucks, xp was their best operating system (although 2000 was the most stable) but it seems like maybe they got this right. they even took some pages out of the OSX book and on some versions of windows 7 you can run XP inside of it.

Yeah me too. i just brought a dell and they offer a free upgrade with it. My old one has served me well for over 5 years but i want something with more power and speed. i've been holding out becuase i really didn't want vista but with the new upgrade i can live with it for 2 months.

I've only had Vista for two weeks now, but I haven't had any problems with it. That said, I think having two different bit-versions is retarded.

What did u get? i ordered a dell, there a bit overpriced, but you get to build it so i picked what i want and what i didn't want. most computers get built for a specific purpose, but i built one to be balanced enough for whatever i need. cause i dam well ain't buying another one for 5 years again lol.

I already have it. Pretty much the version that will be released. I really like it to be honest. But just like Vista, you need a solid computer to run it to its finest. That being said, when google releases its OS, I will be getting it. (It'll be free as well).

the google OS is only for mini laptops (the 150-300 ones you see) that have like 8" widescreens. its not an operating system for a full computer. its really just for browsing the internet and emailing. and it probably won't be free


and i didn't want to download the beta too many issues in betas. anyone can download it though but you can't keep it forever

Lol, ok. I have the exact version of windows 7 that you will get. Our programmer put it on a CD and gave it to us, and then gave us the crack for it. But act like you know what I'm running right now. There is no problems with this version of windows 7, it's the exact one you will be getting.

The Google OS is going to be intended for all computers. RIght now it'll be used for netbooks and so forth, but eventually it'll be swapped to all PC's.

I love people like you who sit there and tell me what I have, don't have, and won't get.

Vista was horrible IMO, just a beta for windows 7. Windows 7 boots and shuts down quickly runs smooth and has great features that are useful. I swear against Vista and LOVE Windows 7 !!!!!!

It's been an exciting nine months since we launched the Google Chrome browser. Already, over 30 million people use it regularly. We designed Google Chrome for people who live on the web — searching for information, checking email, catching up on the news, shopping or just staying in touch with friends. However, the operating systems that browsers run on were designed in an era where there was no web. So today, we're announcing a new project that's a natural extension of Google Chrome — the Google Chrome Operating System. It's our attempt to re-think what operating systems should be.

Google Chrome OS is an open source, lightweight operating system that will initially be targeted at netbooks. Later this year we will open-source its code, and netbooks running Google Chrome OS will be available for consumers in the second half of 2010. Because we're already talking to partners about the project, and we'll soon be working with the open source community, we wanted to share our vision now so everyone understands what we are trying to achieve.

Speed, simplicity and security are the key aspects of Google Chrome OS. We're designing the OS to be fast and lightweight, to start up and get you onto the web in a few seconds. The user interface is minimal to stay out of your way, and most of the user experience takes place on the web. And as we did for the Google Chrome browser, we are going back to the basics and completely redesigning the underlying security architecture of the OS so that users don't have to deal with viruses, malware and security updates. It should just work.

Google Chrome OS will run on both x86 as well as ARM chips and we are working with multiple OEMs to bring a number of netbooks to market next year. The software architecture is simple — Google Chrome running within a new windowing system on top of a Linux kernel. For application developers, the web is the platform. All web-based applications will automatically work and new applications can be written using your favorite web technologies. And of course, these apps will run not only on Google Chrome OS, but on any standards-based browser on Windows, Mac and Linux thereby giving developers the largest user base of any platform.

i didn't say that u didn't know what you have. i just said i doubted you had a pirated version of a software that hasn't been released. Especially when MS hasn't even put out keys for it or allows it for activation. but i guess if your programmer is that good he can bypass the MS activation process. Sorry you got all offended, just saying its unlikely, but possible.

on the other note. google chrome OS might be expanded in the future but there is no date or plans. your 2011 date has to be rumors only since google hans't officially said they have any plans of that or given a date. Also that's not Google's MO, they like everything to be ran through there servers on the web. Just liek google docs and gmail, there basically like office, but you don't install it. you run it on the web. which fits in with there netbook approach, since there OS and the hardware won't be powerfull enough to run an office suite.
