Jetsfan0099 Icon : (Today, 12:21 PM) He plays nastier, and his pass rush was becoming a force last season. Looked like Reggie White at times with his club

Jetsfan0099 Icon : (Today, 12:22 PM) Hes a special talent, just wish he'd stop being a knuckle head off the field
MikeGangGree... Icon : (Today, 12:22 PM) cant
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (Today, 12:22 PM) We are adding a impact player back to our DL, that is exciting.
MikeGangGree... Icon : (Today, 12:23 PM) If he can help our rush even more[ I thin k he will big time] just thjink with the DBs we have how good the D can be
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (Today, 12:25 PM) he should help it. Leonard Williams has been impressive as a rookie
MikeGangGree... Icon : (Today, 12:29 PM) Rex looks gay in blue
MikeGangGree... Icon : (Today, 12:42 PM) 9-3 Giants
MikeGangGree... Icon : (Today, 12:44 PM) If you told me in before the season we would be 3-1 after for games and 3-0 in the AFC I would take it.
MikeGangGree... Icon : (Today, 12:51 PM) Miami 0-12 on 3rd downs and 0-4 on 4th downs
MikeGangGree... Icon : (Today, 01:02 PM) 16-3 Giants

QUOTE (Smedsthejet @ Jan 26 2007, 01:28 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Why invest a second rounder in a FB - a position not really utilized much in Schotty Jr's offense last season? Leonard is a good player but I'd much rather get, if they draft who you said (Carriker and Beekman), an OLB, RB, WR or CB than a FB.

He's actually performing as a RB right now. That's what he's trying to do. Either way, Askew isn't that great at FB IMO. Apples to apples though, as a RB prospect I'd rather have Bush than Leonard.

Leonard is not any postion right now, he is just a talented football player, whos stock is climbing. He will be a 2nd rounder for some team, he is that talented. Plus his stock has been rising from a good preformance at the Senior bowl practices.

There are very few true 3-4 defensive ends who come out of college with that skill set, but Nebraska's Adam Carriker fits that bill exactly. He has perfect size (6-5 7/8, 292) and should continue to gain strength. He uses his long arms and hands extremely well, which will translate into early playing time as a 3-4 end. The Browns might be the team that could use him the most, but he is not worth reaching for with their first pick and surely will be off the board before they pick again in the second round. At pick No. 9, the Dolphins could have interest, but that also is a little high, and they have more pressing needs. The Steelers probably will address other needs with their pick at No. 15, but don't be surprised to see the Bengals consider him at No. 18, if they do in fact switch to a 3-4. At the very worst, Carriker should become a Jet or a Patriot later in the first round.

It's pretty clear that if he's available when we pick we have to take him. Although we have to wait until free agency plays out before we truly know what needs to have to fill I can't see us not needing a guy like him.

With that said I'm not crazy about the idea of signing Sands or someone else to play NT just b/c they are fat and fit the "mold". There seems to be much more to that position than just eating cheeseburgers all day and night. Dewayne can probably get it done with good ends like Carriker and Ellis on the side of him.

I'd much rather us play another year with Dewayne at NT with Kimo out of the lineup to see how he does, and if it doesn't workout thats fine hopefully next year there will be a better NT free agent or prospect in the draft we can pickup. I'd rather not mortage out financial future singing some bum to fix a problem when realistically our chances of winning the superbowl with Dewayne or Sands or whomever still isn't that great.
