ganggreen2003 Icon : (Today, 12:04 PM) already back to doing what he did last season THROWING INT's
ganggreen2003 Icon : (Today, 12:04 PM) sucks that Garrard retired but I'd rather suffer with Geno going through growing pains than keeping Sanchez under center in 2013
Jetsman05 Icon : (Today, 12:33 PM) haha gg03 throwing in the towel on sanch!
mgjetman Icon : (Today, 01:37 PM) What a way to make sporrts center already, Mark......
mgjetman Icon : (Today, 01:39 PM) Sanch owns the #1 blooper of all time with that butt fumble also and to make matters worse he threw it right to a friggin Pat...
Jetsfan115 Icon : (Today, 01:53 PM) buttfumble on thanksgiving was the low point of his career
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (Today, 01:55 PM) Teammates talking shut about Sanchez
SecondHandJets Icon : (Today, 02:11 PM) In case you haven't heard, because why would anyone report on the Giants, Nicks is also holding out
SecondHandJets Icon : (Today, 02:11 PM) That makes both Cruz and Nicks.
SecondHandJets Icon : (Today, 02:11 PM) But who cares, Sanchez threw 3 "interceptions"!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Jetsman05 Icon : (Today, 02:59 PM) ?
Jetsman05 Icon : (Today, 02:59 PM) why would we give a f*** about the Giants?
santana Icon : (Today, 03:04 PM) gg03 jimmies are riled
SecondHandJets Icon : (Today, 03:21 PM) You're not in NY. All the backpages are focused on Sanchez
SecondHandJets Icon : (Today, 03:21 PM) None of the NY media even mention Cruz or Nicks
Jetsfan115 Icon : (Today, 03:40 PM) nicks isn't holding out. he's injured still and taking it easy. cruz is holding out. why it isn't a big ordeal IDK. it would be for us
Jetsman05 Icon : (Today, 04:02 PM) maybe because theyre not that far off.
Jetsman05 Icon : (Today, 04:02 PM) Cruz wants to return back, they'll figure it out.
Jetsfan115 Icon : (Today, 04:41 PM) 3 mil a year off or 30% less then cruz wants. tahst alot of money to be off
Jetsfan115 Icon : (Today, 04:41 PM) cruz doens't want to leave NY cause teh extra money he'll get in endorsements plus he knows taht they can RFA him this year and then Franchise next year so he might not be able to get a LTD for 3 years
Mr_Jet Icon : (Today, 05:21 PM) Clemens11/Tebow15 (soon to be Smith7) said if we had just drafted Crabtree and Nicks and kept Clemens, we'd be good.
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (Today, 06:44 PM) No, he can't be Smith7
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (Today, 06:44 PM) his name is reserved for garbage QBs, we don't want Geno to be bad
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (Today, 06:44 PM) He can be McElroy14
extmenace Icon : (Today, 06:51 PM) we're taking bridgewater next year with the number 1 pick and treating geno like a jimmy clausen.
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (Today, 06:53 PM) What makes Bridgewater better than Geno?
HurricaneJet32 Icon : (Today, 07:12 PM) everything

Jets on pace to obliterate 40-year-old record

November 26, 2008 4:55 PM

US Presswire
Jets running backs Leon Washington and Thomas Jones have combined to score 18 touchdowns this season.

Posted by ESPN.com's Tim Graham

The New York Jets are on pace to shatter their 40-year-old franchise record for most points scored in a season.

Through 11 games, the Jets have amassed 323 points for an average of 29.4 a game. They are on pace to score 470 points.

"If you're a defensive coordinator, you're scratching your head, saying 'What do I do?' " Jets quarterback Brett Favre said Wednesday.

"We're going to run it until you stop it, but we'll also mix in the quick-passing game, screens and things like that. You can't just commit to the box, you have to commit to the receivers as well."

In 1968, when the Jets won their Super Bowl, they posted 419 points in a 14-game regular season. Their average was 29.9 points a game with Joe Namath slinging the ball around Shea Stadium.

Both teams are remarkably balanced, although this year's version has generated more defensive point production and doesn't rely on its kicker as much.

All but three of the 1968 Jets' touchdowns were scored offensively. Namath accounted for 17 touchdowns, throwing 10 to Don Maynard. Matt Snell led them with six rushing touchdowns, while Emerson Boozer and Bill Mathis had five apiece.

Jim Turner set club records with 34 field goals and 145 points.

This year's edition has scored four defensive touchdowns and one on special teams.

Favre has thrown 20 touchdown passes to six receivers. Thomas Jones has rushed for nine touchdowns. Leon Washington has four rushing touchdowns, two receiving and one on a kick return.

"The key in all of this is the fact that our running game has really dominated, no different than our defense stopping the run," Favre said. "The fact we've been able to run the football at our discretion has made all the difference.

"For any quarterback, if you can run the football the way we're running it, you can dictate to defenses how they have to play you. Do they bring an extra guy in the box? If they do that, then a slant should be there, a go route or a back-shoulder throw."

Kicker Jay Feely won't challenge Turner's records, but he has 91 points.

New York Jets, Brett Favre, Thomas Jones, Leon Washington, Joe Namath, Don Maynard, Matt Snell, Emerson Boozer, Bill Mathis, Jim Turner, Jay Feely

This caption is striking to me because the difference between our running game from last year is like night and day. It's definitely the additions along the OLine which caused this, and shows Jones can have a huge impact with quality men in front of him.

As much as I am enjoying this seemingly magical season, I wonder how much players were dogging last year especially on defense. I know how much of an upgrade Kris Jenkins is. We will get the chance on Sunday to see how well Dewayne Robertson stuffs our running game (lol). We all can be thankful that instead of being embarrased on national TV by Dallas last year, we could very well end the weekend with the 2nd best record in the AFC. Also, thank the lord we are not Lions fans.
