Jets pick up option on Wilkerson
Jetsfan115 Icon : (16 April 2014 - 03:33 PM) so i bet powell barely gets any touches this year and goodson gets cut
azjetfan Icon : (16 April 2014 - 03:34 PM) Goodson is as good as gone.
azjetfan Icon : (16 April 2014 - 03:34 PM) With all his legal issues and coming off injury he is done. Possibly even in the NFL
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (16 April 2014 - 03:39 PM) Powell is average anyways.
Chaos Icon : (16 April 2014 - 03:39 PM) @ProFootballTalk 5m

Per source, Chris Johnson's two-year deal has a base value of $8 million, with another $1 million available in incentives based on yardage.
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (16 April 2014 - 03:40 PM) He does a lot of things well, but isn't talented enough. Johnson has breakaway ability still and Ivory is man beast running the football
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (16 April 2014 - 03:41 PM) We will get another WR in the draft. Even in round 2 you can get a starting WR
azjetfan Icon : (16 April 2014 - 04:09 PM) I am still standing by my CB in the first round and WR in the second prediction
santana Icon : (16 April 2014 - 05:19 PM) The title race is bale
azjetfan Icon : (16 April 2014 - 05:34 PM) Sidney rice coming in for a visit
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (16 April 2014 - 05:49 PM) I think the Jets are getting themselves ready to draft best player available
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (16 April 2014 - 05:49 PM) Last year they stuck to their board
HarlemHxC814 Icon : (16 April 2014 - 06:27 PM) if they sign him I think that means they look to take a CB round 1
2JBallar01 Icon : (16 April 2014 - 06:32 PM) “@AdamSchefter: RB Chris Johnson's 2-year deal with Jets has a team option in it for year two. Jets have option to pick up year two at $4M in February 2015.”
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (16 April 2014 - 06:51 PM) @AlbertBreer 2m
Sidney Rice has agreed to terms with the Seahawks on a one-year deal, per source.

I know, to many people are basing everything on if we dont pick anyone in the FA, people think that every hole has to be filled by the draft.

I think Tangini will go after a CB such as Samuel or Clements if either becomes available in FA. Our front office is smart and won't overpay for someone who perhaps is getting on a bit in NFL terms when there are cheaper alternatives who could be just as good available in the draft; Tannenbaum has already said the Jets will build through the draft.
Another position that could be filled through FA is G and RT but I only see one or two big money signings and a couple cheaper players being signed such as Banta Cain.

I just don't understand wanting to sign Banta-Cain...he's a good backup at best. You draft those kind of guys...you don't sign them. You don't see the Patriots going out and signing guys like Banta Cain...you draft them!

let the redskins sign him to a 30 million dollar contract while NE drafts a guy in the 6th round who is more productive

He's a Mangini guy though so it's inevitable that we take a look at him in FA.

I know coach wants to build this team with his type of guys but I want a playmaker on this team and we need to go after Turner and a DT in Free Agency way before the draft even starts.

Freeney is too small to play end in the 3-4. He could probably be a monster at OLB but he doesn't want to make the switch... he was criticizing Houston for moving Mario Williams around this year. I say no Dwight Freeney, same goes for Patrick Kerney.

the 49ers are the top team after him and he would have to switch to olb because they run a 3-4........they wouldnt be that interested in him if he didnt want to make the switch............ i agree on kearney.....he's too slow to be an olb and to small for DE

Actually San fran isnt even positive he's gonna fit over there

Hes on the list, Nolan said of Freeney. (If) we put him in this environment, maybe he becomes the other (kind of player). Maybe not, but hes a good player. I dont want to take anything away from him. But one player affects another. And Im trying to build a football team and not someone who just gets stats.

Besides, I've read about the 9ers being interested in Freeney, not vice versa but maybe you've seen something I haven't.

The draft is more important, but in the draft you dont always get a impact player, when in the FA, you can get a proven player. The draft is the way to build your team and put them through your system, the FA is to get imediate starters, or just back ups and stuff.

If there is one guy that we get, please let it be Samuel! He knows the system, its a cant miss pickup..... The only thing is, he wants alot of money, I guess atleast if he leaves the east......

i agree samuels is cant miss but we would have to stand in line with about 25 other teams who are salivating over him and have great cap space.........this guy is going to get paid

iagree.gif The draft is the cheapest and therefore best way to build your team as you normally have to overpay slightly for a player in FA but FA does provide a more immediate fix than building through the draft. I don't want to see us go after too many FAs - Samuel is top of my list as drafting a CB will mean the rookie has to take a lot of time to adjust to the NFL whereas you can plug Samuel in straight away and be successful.
