Jets 0-2 vs bills this year. Does Rex Ryan survive the year?
ganggreen2003 Icon : (25 November 2014 - 10:50 PM) The JETS really sucked a fat one last night
ganggreen2003 Icon : (25 November 2014 - 11:34 PM) Man the JETS are a 3 ring circus or American Horror Story: FREAK SHOW!!!!
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (Yesterday, 08:45 AM) Jets starting Geno again.
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (Yesterday, 08:45 AM) FIRE IDZIK,
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (Yesterday, 08:45 AM) I really hope the JEts completely clean house this offseason and get rid of everyone, it's time.
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (Yesterday, 08:54 AM) We need to keep getting embarrassed every week to ensure that. That is why I don't give a shit about getting destroyed, it makes the team look like more of a joke and forces Woody to make real changes
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (Yesterday, 08:55 AM) Like how do you get blown out by a team that didn't practice while you had 2 weeks to prepare?
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (Yesterday, 08:55 AM) That kind of stuff may force Woody to make the big changes and fire everyone
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (Yesterday, 08:55 AM) John Idzik has handled the QB situation terribly. 2 times he pretty much handed the job to his draft pick
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (Yesterday, 08:56 AM) Besides Sheldon Richardson, his drafts have been awful.
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (Yesterday, 08:57 AM) Maybe Woody will clean house and go all out for Jim Harbaugh, that probably won't happen though but it would be a franchise changer.
HarlemHxC814 Icon : (Yesterday, 10:07 AM) Harbaugh would be amazing...but because it makes sense it won't be done
HarlemHxC814 Icon : (Yesterday, 10:51 AM) According to Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News, the Jets blocked coach Rex Ryan from talking to Mehta about a bye-week visit to his ailing father, legendary NFL defensive guru Buddy Ryan. Buddy, who rose to prominence as defensive coordinator of the ’85 Bears and then coached the Eagles and Cardinals, is battling cancer.
HarlemHxC814 Icon : (Yesterday, 10:52 AM) Mehta interprets the muzzling of Rex Ryan as proof positive that, once the season ends, Ryan will no longer be the team’s head coach. Apparently, the team fears that Rex would become more sympathetic in the eyes of the fan base if he’s dumped by the team at a time when his father is fighting a serious illness.
santana Icon : (Yesterday, 11:05 AM) Mehta is an idiot
santana Icon : (Yesterday, 11:25 AM) If colt McCoy lights it up do the jets make a move?
HarlemHxC814 Icon : (Yesterday, 11:27 AM) I don't even care what they do for a while
HarlemHxC814 Icon : (Yesterday, 11:28 AM) The team is a catastrophe
santana Icon : (Yesterday, 11:29 AM) I didn't see the game
santana Icon : (Yesterday, 11:29 AM) I remember the first bills game though I'm guessing it was like that with more sleeping in the end zone
HarlemHxC814 Icon : (Yesterday, 11:32 AM) I'm with 0099...I hope they keep getting destroyed
Chaos Icon : (Yesterday, 11:33 AM) it's a very Jets-esque move to sign McCoy if he does well
HarlemHxC814 Icon : (Yesterday, 11:53 AM) I think they sign RGIII, Cutler, or Bradford
santana Icon : (Yesterday, 12:10 PM) why not all three
HarlemHxC814 Icon : (Yesterday, 12:11 PM) Knowing this team, I wouldn't put that past them
HarlemHxC814 Icon : (Yesterday, 02:07 PM) RAUL FOR QB
santana Icon : (Yesterday, 02:10 PM) the only real choice

Can be a featured back? Do you guys think he can be? I personaly dont know really yet, I have a good feeling about him, but not so sure yet. I think that if we revamp our offensive line more, then he can be a great RB. I think that he could easily have a 1,200 yard season if we give him the rock. Will see what happens...

I think he is a role player and will be an excellent change of pace back and reciever out of the backfield...all you have to do is get him in space...as he is one of the best in the league with room to run.

But I could be wrong...I don't think he'll ever be a true feature back...but he may be able to handle most of the load with a big back to supplant him every once in a while.

Yes. Brian Westbrook is a featured back and a fantasy gem. Why can't Leon be the same? I actually think Leon is better in space than Westbrook is. None the less, he still needs a thumper to go out there and help him physically wear down a defense, so.... traditional featured back..... no. He's not a Portis or LT by any stretch. I think we should use him our Atlanta uses Warrick Dunn.

We've talked about this a million times. No he's not a featured back. He's not an every down back. If he was we would not be talking about trading or drafting a RB. He's a Dave Meggett type RB. A third down specialists. That's all.

I don't think he's neither a feature back nor a 3rd down back, he's in between. I think he might need a guy (like Cedrick Houston) to get a few extra carries. Maybe get like a 75-25 mix in with Washinton getting the bulk of them. Was he the featured back at FSU???

I think people get too caught up in trying to compare players to other players in the league or from the past. Its stupid to pidgeonhole someone saying they are a third down specialist simply because they are smaller than the prototypical RB.

What you look for in a RB is the ability to see the holes provided by the offensive line and hit those holes quickly and make people miss. Leon has shown that ability. He has also shown toughness in his running and punt returns which shows me although he has a small frame he is not weak.

Obviously it would be nice to have another running back who is a bit more physical to wear down the defense, but every team in the league now is mostly looking for at least two running backs who can contribute prominently. I think provided enough carries and a better run blocking offensive line Leon could defenitly put up very respectable yardage.

yes but we also r looking for a RB(some of us anyways) because we dont know how good he is i think(well i believe that is some ppl's mind set), however i believe he just needs more carries to prove himself. i dont think he will get the amount of carries that could show he could be a franchise RB this year either though if we keep barlow or draft a RB because then it seems like we would be looking to do a "RB by committee" thing. and if we dont think he can be a franchise RB, i think we should at least have him split carries with the ppl we get or the ppl we have, but if we do it with the ppl we have, we should have him get the majority of the carries unlike last year. however depending on who we get if any1 in FA or the draft, it would determine who gets the majority of the carries. if we were to get some1 like michael turner, i think he should be the one not getting the majority of the carries until proven otherwise but i think at least for the first year or couple years we should if we draft a RB leon should get the majority, because even though hes only ahead of them by 1 year, i think he should still get the majority of the carries unless proven otherwise by a RB we were to draft

Off the bat next season I dont think he can i think he still needs some more time in the NFL. Look at Westbrook and Barber they both needed time to develop into a feature back.

Good point! I like how the Cowboys use their RBs. They run Julius Jones in the 1st half, then in the 2nd use Marion Barber, who is a bit bigger and is more physical, and they just destroy them that way, with Barber nailing them in the 2nd half. W/e we do, Leon Washington needs the ball. Hes a gamechanger! He has excellent vision, and patience. He is also pretty decent up the middle, since he does have that vision, and is small so teams dont see him and he runs up the gut and then always seems to stumble for some yards instead of just getting nailed. He has very strong legs, and obivously very fast and quick. I for one want to see him get the load this year before we decide on getting another back. I rather go after Brian Leonard, who can be our Mike Alstott, and be our FB/RB, he can be the short yardage guy and goal line guy, along with 3rd downs, since he is great at Pass blocking and has great hands. I am wishing everyday that our backfield next year is Washington and Leonard.. Please let it happen.........

No...Some players are specialist. Leon can,t run in the middle. Especially against a good front 4. He got swallowed up against the pats in the middle. They called them 3rd down backs for a reason. I didn't just come up with the term. Leon is no Juluis Jones or Marion Barber.

I think the Pats run D was #2 in the league or something similar, so it wasn't just Leon who was getting stuffed in the middle. I'm not saying he's the next LT or anything, but a 3rd down back typically is a guy who has a limited skill set like catching out of the backfield and blocking blizters (Think Kevin Faulk). They can't really run 20 times a game with any consistency.

Leon has shown in a few games that given enough carries he can gain 100 yards. So while I didn't say you imagined up the term, I also don't think its evident Leon can only be a specialist. He has the skill set one looks for in a back vision, toughness and the ability to make people miss. Hes not going to break tackles like Jamal Lewis, but neither is Reggie Bush and he's going to be a "Featured Back"

The fact that we are even having the argument shows that he should be at least given a shot. I doubt people in a Pats forum are debating whether Kevin faulk can shoulder the load with Maroney once Dillon leaves.

That's because they have Maroney...and because Leon is more talented than Faulk...but being more talented than Faulk isn't hard to do. Faulk is a role player used perfectly in the system the Pats set up for him. The Jets should find an appropriate role and system for Leon as well...because no one can deny he is amazing in the open field...but as a feature back you aren't always going to get in the open field. So you get a feature back...and then create certain situations where you try and get Leon into the open field.
