Jetsfan115 Icon : (22 April 2015 - 04:35 PM) last one i seen had us taking cooper, a RB, and hundley for our 1st 3 picks. not thrilled about that
Chadforpresi... Icon : (22 April 2015 - 04:38 PM) I don't like Gordon much. Not much of a receiver or blocker, ball security issues, tries to bounce outside too much, stuffed frequently. Gurley is in a league of his own
Chadforpresi... Icon : (22 April 2015 - 04:39 PM) Ray is pretty highly regarded. I'm betting he, Dupree, and Gregory will be our best options as well as edge rushers at 6, but I think that's too high for any of them
Chadforpresi... Icon : (22 April 2015 - 04:43 PM) Personally love Cooper, I know WR isn't our biggest need but he may be the most NFL ready guy in the Draft. If we stick to the 6th pick and Fowler, Beasley, and Mariota are gone, Cooper is the guy to get. I'd even take him over Beasley
Jetsfan115 Icon : (22 April 2015 - 05:45 PM) i don't mind cooper. decker isn't number 1 IMO and marshall is expensive and getting old
Jetsfan115 Icon : (22 April 2015 - 05:45 PM) and we never draft a WR high
Jetsfan115 Icon : (22 April 2015 - 05:45 PM) but o-line and QB are huge needs. i wouldn't take o-line 6th overall, but i think our 2nd or 3rd should be o-line
Jetsfan115 Icon : (22 April 2015 - 05:46 PM) we need an OLB as well. if we don't land a QB i'd like to see OLB adn O-line with 2 of our top 3 picks
Chadforpresi... Icon : (22 April 2015 - 08:16 PM) I agree on Deck, not a true #1 and he's had a checkered history with injuries. Marshall has 2, maybe 3 productive years left, which is why Cooper is an option
Chadforpresi... Icon : (22 April 2015 - 08:17 PM) And I agree with you on edge rusher & OL being bigger needs, but there really isn't a lineman I'd take at 6
Chadforpresi... Icon : (22 April 2015 - 08:19 PM) So the way I see it, assuming Winston and Mariota are taken when we're at 6, that Fowler and Cooper are our best choices, and I'd be stunned if Fowler drops. I wouldn't be surprised (or upset) if we land Cooper
NJAzrael71 Icon : (22 April 2015 - 08:47 PM) Apparently Tennessee wanted both of Cleveland's #1's and their 2nd rounder to move up to the #2 spot to get Mariota. Still think two 1st rounders are too much for Rivers? He makes us instant contenders and if we make a deep playoff run, it would really be this year's 1st and what equates to basically a 2nd rounder next year.
If not, get Cooper in the 1st and then grab Hundley in the 2nd and O-line in the 3rd.
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (22 April 2015 - 10:05 PM) I wouldn't be upset with Cooper, hes a stud
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (22 April 2015 - 10:06 PM) Not sure about Ray. Dupree is rising on the draft boards, ridiculously athletic for his size
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (22 April 2015 - 10:07 PM) Dupree is 6'4 270 and has a amazing get off and runs a 4.5
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (22 April 2015 - 10:09 PM) Problem is he doesn't have big sack numbers in college, I rather draft a productive guy high
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (22 April 2015 - 10:09 PM) Vic Beasley is insanely athletic as well and was hugely productive in college, good bet is that Beasley will be a 10+ sack guy in the NFL
NJAzrael71 Icon : (22 April 2015 - 10:12 PM) Beasley should be a stud but he gets caught up hand fighting if he doesn't beat his guy quickly. He'll likely end up as an OLB but we'll see
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (22 April 2015 - 10:15 PM) He'd be a good fit in our defense, because we could use that speed guy on the outside
Chadforpresi... Icon : (23 April 2015 - 06:27 AM) I'd love Rivers, but we should be able to get him without paying 2 first rounders
Chadforpresi... Icon : (23 April 2015 - 06:29 AM) Lot of buzz about Dupree going top 10, most mocks I see have us getting either Ray or Dupree at 6. I prefer Dupree, like you said insane athlete for his size
Chadforpresi... Icon : (23 April 2015 - 06:30 AM) I like Beasley as well but I have a strong feeling Washington will snag him. But he is a small dude, it'd be nice if he'd add some bulk (in Clemson reportedly played around 230)
Chaos Icon : (23 April 2015 - 10:11 AM) @ArifHasanNFL

.@LanceZierlein says on http://sports790.com that Shane Ray will need surgery on foot, 5 months recovery. "Could drop out of first"
Chaos Icon : (23 April 2015 - 10:14 AM) this should change up the top 10
Chadforpresi... Icon : (23 April 2015 - 12:16 PM) Damn that's big. If he drops out of round 1 that could be a massive bargain for whoever gets him round 2. Dupree now looks more like the edge rusher we'd get at 6

Jetsman05 Icon : (26 April 2015 - 06:58 AM) Vic Beasley is all speed. No moves, no power. Straight up the field. Could have some big games, then nothing in the next
Jetsman05 Icon : (26 April 2015 - 06:59 AM) If we don't get Mariota, we should be looking at Schreff or trading down, IMO.
Jetsman05 Icon : (26 April 2015 - 06:59 AM) A lot of good edge rushers in this draft... I wouldn't want to take Dupree that high.

So then what makes him worth paying more for then Samuel? Is this just your opinion?

Nate Clements has shown consistancy while Asante Samuel has had 1 good year.

Clements had 2 INTs and 102 tackles in 2005.

Samuel had 3 INTs and 54 tackles in 2005.

How is that more consistant? Why because Clements has been in the league longer? It's Samuel's fault for being younger then Clements? Or is it because Samuel didn't go to THE Ohio State University like Clements did? Clements IMO is not better then Samuel and if he is not by much.

Samuel clearly had the better season in the 2006 season on a team with more defensive stars then the Bills. Remember this is a "What have you done for me lately" league, so why would 2005 and before matter in 2007?

In 96 games Clements has 23 INTs while Samuel in just 59 games has 16 INTs. That's only 7 less then Clements and Clements has played 37 more games then Samuel.

Anonther thing Clements hasn't had much if any playoff game experience, Samuel has two Super Bowl rings and started in Super Bowl XXXIX.

Also Samuel knows Mangini and knows his style and system unlike Clements who hardly if at all knows Coach Mangini. For people who say Samuel is just a product of the Patriots' system, what is Eric Mangini? What system is he a product of? Remember before he was "Manginius" he was the Patriots defensive coordinator.

1) He is a racist. By constantly using race as a battling tool.
2) He is an extreme Liberal. If you are on either extreme you are probabaly more wrong than right.
3) He is one of those people who will never admit fault, error or defeat.
4)His life sucks and he takes it out on people who don't share in his views.

numbers can be deciving in 2005 bailey had 64 tackles and 5 INTs does that mean he had a bad year?

teams arne't throwing muhc toward bailey or clemenst for that matter. CB is tough cause stats are very deciving . ty law had 10 INTs for us but didn't have a great year at all. INTS don't mean much for CBs like most people think. clements has been a dominint cover guy and a pro bolwer for the last few years. smaual had a breakout year in his contract year but clemenst has been consistintly better,

It's true. However, I still think Assante Samuel has more potential. Clements is already tapped out, we don't know how much better Samuel could get. Either way we're not getting him.

Clements hasn't been to a Pro Bowl since 2004. Plus Clements is older and like I said hasn't played in the same system the Jets do. Clements would have to learn the defense unlike Samuel who already knows it.

Still nobody has proven how Clements is more "consistant."

Nate clements is 27 and samuel is 26......both are young period.....people have yet to see what clements can really do because he has been in exile up in buffalo and QB's dont go his way which is a sign of a true shutdown and plus he's a great tackler which samuel's isnt......samuel maybe better but ESPN said today the pats will likely franchise him if they dont work out a long term deal so Clement might be the only way to go

Yeah because the Bills would never do the same thing to Clements....again.

Of course they don't throw Nate's way, he's the only great DB they have. Samuel has players like Ellis Hobbs and Rodney Harrison in the backfield with him.

That age difference is somewhat misleading since Samuel was born in January and Clements was born in December.

Still I'd rather have a player who has been in the playoffs, started in a Super Bowl, and has already been coached by Mangini.

IMO since Clements was tagged last year he'll want even more money then Samuel.

First calm down. What I was basically going to say is what Tipceey said. I'll just add that he has been a 2 time pro-bowler and has not missed a game in his career.

Edit: This is directed towards Mr. Jet (I messed up the quote box)

Neither matters, we're not getting Clements or Samuels. Neither are going to be free agents. They'll have to be traded for, which means draft picks, which means we aren't getting either.

The Jets are smart and they'll do the right thing: Build through the Draft. Once you have a system and a coach that is smart enough to locate the correct talent for the system, you get an all-star. Neither player is worth our 1st or 2nd round picks. Build through the draft, Tangini knows that. Let's just hope they don't reach again for players and get the right guys because the 2006 draft class really contributed to this team and I expect the 2007 draft class to be better.

DONT forget about Miller.. He showed me some good signs towards the end of the year.. He has all the talent in the world but was extremely raw when we drafted him and we knew he would be a project player.. Usually players like Miller shine in their 3rd year of play.. Don't give up on him yet..

CB should not be a top priority..

I agree. I'd LOVE for Miller to start on the outside and be shutdown. I've never really seen him get beat like I've seen the others get beat. He just needs to tweak his technique a little bit to get him to the next level which is punishing the QB for throwing his way. He already punishes everyone else with his bone crushing hits. I love that kid! I'm with Requiem on this.

The patriots have two players they can assign the franchise tag on. Daniel Graham is a free agent, I doubt Brady would like to loose another weapon on the offense. If they can't lock Graham up, I wouldn't be surprised if they franchised him.

They can still transition tag him if I'm not wrong meaning they'd have the final rights on a contract and get compensation. I'm not really sure about how the team would get compensation but what I was reading about it is a little cloudy. I think if the team says they'll match the contract and the player leaves anyway, that's when they get compensated. I'm guessing it's based on the contract amount as to what the compensation is. Either way we would have difficulty get him. I don't think we'll get either player. Draft a CB and continue to help Miller make progress.

Draft a CB and continue to help Miller make progress.

the transition tag means they have to pay him the average of the top 10 salaries in his positiion and if he signs a deal the team gets the right of 1st refusal, if they refuse they got no compensation

Personally I don't like the Franchise tag or the Transition tag. It's not fair to the player. They played through the life of their contract, honoring it. The team shouldn't be allowed to continue to have the rights to the player. I think it's unfair and annoying. It limits FA's as well and it limits the players' ability to freely negotiate a new contract with whatever suitor he wants. I think the NFL should do away with them. They get all high and mighty and pissy about players holding out of training camp but when a team Franchise Tag's a player there's nothing wrong with that.

To me, the team should have already signed that player if he's that valuable. I think a solution is you can Franchise Tag a player meaning that no one can freely negotiate with you for a certain period of time. If the team fails to reach a contract agreement in that time period then the player is free to negotiate. Otherwise it's like a master/slave relationship with the player not having any rights which he truely does because he's no longer under contract. And then it penalizes the team that signs the player that is an UFA by them having to trade a high pick for the player. It's just a big bullshit.

The patriots have two players they can assign the franchise tag on. Daniel Graham is a free agent, I doubt Brady would like to loose another weapon on the offense. If they can't lock Graham up, I wouldn't be surprised if they franchised him.

no way they'd franchise graham he's not one of the top 5 TE's in the league, he not even no. 1 TE on the team Watson is plus they drafted a guy last year to replace him.....................and the Frnachise is a HUGE slap in the face of any player because usually that player wants no.1 at the position he plays and a long term deal because usually they are coming off of a great season and if they dont produce like that again the following year they lose that no.1 money they wanted...........i think this is what is going to happen to samuels........he/'s not going to have another 10 int year next year or the following year so he isnt going to get champ bailey type money that he would get if he signed a long term deal this season........under the new agreement teams can only franchise a player twice it used to be they could do it every year
