The Jets figure to make an offer to free-agent safety Jim Leonhard, according to the Newark Star-Ledger. Leonhard played for new Jets coach Rex Ryan last season. In four seasons, Leonhard has split time between Baltimore and Buffalo. He is still young enough that he may not have reached his peak yet, but last season was his best. He had 69 tackles (55 solo) and an interception returned for a touchdown last year. http://www.fantasysp.com/player/nfl/Jim_Leonhard/226543

I know elam got burnt some, but what about us growing his play making ability?

especially with a real guru teaching him.

Elam is way too slow for coverage. They want a pure FS so they can turn Rhodes into a SS to allow him to basically roam the field looking to make a play instead of being deep in coverage. Elam is probably going to end up being a special teams player.

poor guy, i wish there was a way to get him on the field, because he is a playmaker, and has high energy, something lacking on our defense.

He's a liability in coverage. He's a good blitzer so maybe he'll see some playing time in a 46. Then again probably not.

This is a good move. Elam should still see some playing time in certain packages. Smith is a goner.

Its a slight at someone now to be a role player? I think we need more ROLE players. I'm the biggest Elam supporter on the board, was calling for him before everyone else wanted him. But Leonard is much more a complete player.

I'll take the "role player" Leonard in a second so we can swap over Rhodes.

I don't know what the hype is for Leonard. I know he had a good season but how many 1 hit wonders are their in the NFL?.. TONS!!, you know, the guys that have a great year and can't be found the next. Leonard seems like the flavor of the year to me.

Personally I think we need to draft one and there is a damn good one in Missori

Hes a little guy with a big heart. He is pretty fast, he was all over the place in the playoffs. I would take him, he won't get much money anyways.

Moore isn't that good from Mizzou. Talented, but I never saw the hype around him

The fact that he's Rex's guy and he wants him here is enough for me.

Im a little iffy on him also. And I like elam, but he is a BIG problem in pass coverage. I do feel like we should resign him though. Good depth player. great blitzer

One guy I would look at in the draft is Rashad Johnson from alabama. Could probably be had in the 2nd round. I dont think he slips to the 3rd.
