FLORHAM PARK, N.J. -- New York Jets rookie quarterback Erik Ainge has been suspended four games by the NFL for violating the league's policy on steroids and related substances.
Ainge, already on injured reserve and out for the season with a foot injury, is not allowed to be with the team or at its facility during the suspension. He'll be eligible to rejoin the team Dec. 15, following the Jets' game against Buffalo.
Ainge, a fifth-round pick out of Tennessee, was inactive for the team's first seven games before injuring his right foot.
He's the second Jets player suspended this season. Running back Jesse Chatman was banned for the first four games without pay for also violating the league's steroids and related-substances policy.

Ainge suspended
A second Jet, this time quarterback Erik Ainge, has been found in violation of the NFL's drug policy.
From the NFL late this afternoon:
"Erik Ainge of the New York Jets has been suspended without pay for four games for violating the NFL Policy on Steroids and Related Substances.
Ainge’s suspension begins immediately. He will be eligible to rejoin the team on Monday, December 15, following the Jets’ December 14 game against the Buffalo Bills."
The suspension has no immediate impact on the roster as Ainge was put on the injured reserve Oct. 29 with a foot injury. The other Jet to be suspended was running back Jesse Chatman - also put on the injured reserved Oct. 29 - who missed the first four games of the season.

Well since Chatman played right away after his 4 game suspension I don't see why Mangini would dump Ainge.
“We know we’re better than you, we don’t give a f*ck if you know it or not, we don’t give a sh*t if you give us your best game, we’re gonna give you our best game and we’re gonna beat the f*ck outta ya. How’s that?”

any chance that Mangenius keeps him in 2009?
Honestly I dont see him being with the Jets next year unless he makes some serious leap in talent or an injury to another qb.I dont think he showed anything special in the preseason against players that werent going to make the team. Some may disagree but I really dont see him having much of a future in this league. His mechanics are to slow and he doesnt have alot of mobility.I could see him taking alot of huge hits against starters. A good arm isnt worth alot with slow mechanics.Just my opinion though.Others may see things different.
Chad had a slow wind up but his mechanics arent slow on short passes and he has always had decent mobility to move an extend plays
