Jetsfan0099 Icon : (25 February 2015 - 07:30 PM) But Bryan Bulaga is also a FA< so they have 2 important guys to re-sign. I think the OT is more important for Rodgers

ganggreen2003 Icon : (28 February 2015 - 05:19 PM) going from one cesspool to another
santana Icon : (28 February 2015 - 09:46 PM) You realize the jets are in cesspool mode as well right?
ganggreen2003 Icon : (28 February 2015 - 11:29 PM) no we aren't
ganggreen2003 Icon : (28 February 2015 - 11:29 PM) we are in good shape compared to those 2 other franchises
ganggreen2003 Icon : (28 February 2015 - 11:29 PM) so I'm not even putting MY JETS in the same category as those lowly Tampa Bay Bucs and Cleveland Browns

azjetfan Icon : (Yesterday, 04:04 PM) my guess is if he does not restructure they will wait until they see what they can get in FA before making that decision.

azjetfan Icon : (Yesterday, 04:05 PM) I cant wait until FA

Peter King suggests the Jets not focus on Asante Samuel for a free agent cornerback this offseason, starting first with the other end of the Empire State.
8. New York Jets (10-7). If Iím Jets GM Mike Tannenbaum, knowing the Patriots will almost certainly franchise or sign Asante Samuel, my free-agent focus right now is on Buffalo cornerback Nate Clements.
Clements played on a top ten pass defense and is a very capable corner who matches up very well (scroll down) against #1WRs. In terms of rate to stop plays (run or pass, based on my copy of F.O.ís Individual Defense Stats) he ranks alongside guys like Asante Samuel and Patrick Surtain, which clearly isnít bad company to keep.
Clements is not a ďtop of the chartsĒ player, but he represents a solid corner, and makes Dyson a very formidible #2. With guys like Coleman, Rhodes, Smith and Washington playing over the top, the Jets could see their high numbers against the pass dry up quickly, something they will need to do next year if they want to make another run at the playoffs.
From a check around the web, it sounds like the Bills have $39 million in cap space, but havenít been courting Clements very enthusiastically, who was tagged last year. Are they taking franchising him again for granted? Clements is on the record saying that he wants to play for a winner, and that he foresees this might be his last shot at a real payday

I rather not sign him, but if they do I will be happy, since it improves a area of weakness.

Clements is a good, solid CB and although he may come at a price larger than what Samuel may get, he would certainly be an upgrade and would be a worthwhile signing IMO. He has good size for a corner too at 6-0 209 lbs and has 23 INTs so far in his career which isn't bad going.
