I am 27 and I have been smoking for 6 year's now. I have tried to quit before but now my girlfriend/Fiance is getting on my back again about quitting. She usually just get's on my case then she'll forget but not thjis time. She means business and i know I want to live long and healthy for my 3 year old daughter!.

It is now 2 full days since I haven't had one not even a puff and I am going to give this a valient effort. Each day I'll log myself on here and maybe if there's anyone else that want's to quit with me can log into this thread to.

Wish me luck, I think i'm going to do it this time!... I can feel it!

SDubb....I'm with you all the way man, I'm trying to stop myself. Been smoking since I was 14, I'm 18 now. I'm kind of in the same position as you (although I dont have any kids lol). I have a girlfriend who's great, and she always gets on my case about it and I love her to death....I have more motivation for quitting tho, she said she won't give me any if I keep smoking lol. Anyway...SDubb, I'll quit with you lol...its you and me.

O.K Harlem let's do it then. This is now day 4 for me. I haven't inhaled cigarette smoke in 4 day's. It's 9:05am Thurs. I gave it up at the begining of the week on Monday. So you have to catch up with me bro!.

Everday come into this thread and tell me how many you've had or haven't had. I'm 4 days strong I know you can do it. We are going to be going on the "honesty policy" here. We have to be honest with each other and anyone else who deside's to quit.

Puff's are not allowed not even 1 cigarette. We are quitting cold turkey!, so let's see if you have the self commitment and inner strength to knock the habit. I know I do, do you?

Log in everyday or when you can to post and tell me if have been smoke free or how many you've had.

Just a sidenote this is serious!!!. I want other people to be healthy as well, so let's see what your made of. Can you knock the habit for a longer and healthier life?. I think you can, Let's do this!.

Keep me posted!!! cool2.gif

Harlem and Sdubb, good luck to you both, I hope you get over it.
I think something that might help is join clubs involving things you like, for example one over the internet (cool2.gif), or do some sports, maybe trying to get a new hobby, like collection sports cards, playing a sport, an instrument, etc. that might help your mind get off ciggarettes.

Kids from my area I know started real young and probably just under 1/2 my year (15-16 year olds) at school smoke - be it cigarettes or weed and half the year below (14-15) smoke. People see it as being a cool thing to do.
A couple years back my school was in a national newspaper for drugs and the amount of people that do them and deal them at my school.
I haven't touched a cigarette in my life, don't plan to either. Hopefully SDubb and HarlemHellfighter quit and dont smoke another again - good luck guys, you can do it.

Thanks alot young buck's cool2.gif , It's now day 5 for me today and still Smoke free. I'll probably continue to do this for a month or untill I don't crave it.

I'm starting to notice that when I awake in the morning I'm getting flemy. I don't want to gross you guy's out but I can feel the tar and toxin's in my throat breaking up and even my spit is discolored it's almost like a brownish, yellowish. These are just some of the symptom's I am dealing with approximately 5 day's without a smoke. It's not pretty so all you younf guy's don't even think about it trust me it's not worth it.

I find that sometime's when I'm not working or dorment for a few minute's my mind tries to convince me that I want one. Smoking has become such a part of my daily routine that's it is really hard to break. I'm also starting to notice that my sense of smell and taste have significantly increased. These are small thing's that you take for granted when you smoke but realize how nice it is to have them when they come back.

I have been keeping busy. I coach football with a partner of mine on weekends and we have a few practices in the evening about 2 to 3 days week and with work I'm pretty busy. Thanks for the insight though fellaz but when you've tried as much as I have you know everything.

5 days and strong where are you Harlem?!?!?!.

It's been 4 days for me man. I've noticed some of the same stuff like you, the best thing is that I can smell and taste again though lol. It was so normal for me as part of my routine as well that I would come home, and while I'm on the toilet, I would smoke a cigarette, thats the weirdest part about it. I try not to think about it and the more I don't, thats how much I don't want one. I feel good that I'm overcoming this though!

It's been a week for me today. I've reached my 1st test though...my girlfriend is giving me problems about something and it's really stressful, but I'm stayin strong.

Sdubb, do you do something else to kill the craving of cigarettes, (i.e., I've decided to walk around or eat a piece of fruit whenever I get the urge to smoke.) It's helped me a lot.
