The country was in derpression, and he got us out of it with "The Fire Side Chat" to talk to the public. He set up food stations giving people food. Alot of people were driven to suicide cause of starvation yet he helped stop it. He helped us win WWII and boosted the troops morale by visiting them (Even in the freezing cold/wet Aluetians) he also gave women jobs in building supplies/ weapons for the war that helped the troops and them get money to put food on the table.

Yea ok, I know all of that. Here's really quickly why I disagree.

He was a socialist before the term ever existed. The man had several bills turned down for being unconstitutional because they were WAY to intrusive on American's rights.

Alot of his "genius" idea were in fact stolen idea from both the communist ideas of Lenin and the Fascist ideas of Mussolini.

The problems with social security today is that FDR never foresaw that people wouldn't continue to have children (thank you abortion). His ideas are now dated and have left us with alot of the problems (cough wellfare cough) that we have today.

At the time he was in fact great for America and I do not doubt it still exists today now because he saved it, however, I think that Washington and Reagan were much better (I'm sure I'll get pooped on for putting Washington in the same sentence as Reagan).

Well first it was a good idea to have social security to begin with. It's tough to predict the future, especially in economics/social security. But he still thought of it. It say Greatest president I believe, so I'm talking about when he was elected.

Yea I knew that was coming. I'm not going to defend my statement though, I know I can't convince anyone to think like I do it would be foolish. But Men like Abe Lincoln and FDR were not exactly the men we remember them as, and men like Nixon and Reagan actually did more good for this country then most people realize. That is really what I was trying to say.

Honestly,I am not to current on our history. However,the 'cough wellfare cough' comment got me thinking.....

There are people out there who do need it--that's fine. But,there are many more who abuse it. I would get so pissed when some drunk 'mom' would bring her child in the ER at 2am because of a fever. When asked about giving the child any ibuprofen or tylenol she was like 'I can't afford that' (never mind the cigs in her purse....) 'so I don't buy it'. Then ask the Dr to write rx for it so her medical card would pay for it. The generic brand is $1.00 at dollar store.
why does this piss me off????????????????? I am sitting at work,busting my butt to just 'get by',to make sure my kids are taken care of,that my house pmt is made. Yet,this lady,does not work because she is so spoiled by the system of US paying her to stay home,smoke,drink,whatever. There needs to be changes made in the wellfare system. They need to come down harder on the abusers. :angry:

Then,some of the pt's we see in cln are elderly,on medicare & a fixed income,who usually have to take several medications. Some are very expensive and they tell me' insurance won't pay,the state won't help,I have to eat...it comes down to my medicine or food,what would you do'. Sad situation.
I give them samples. Whatever we have in closet,I give them and tell them to call me when they run out and I get more.

All great stuff on welfare here. If you want to learn more about why welfare is the devil and needs to be eliminated entirely research this woman, Starr Parker. She came from poverty and is now an advisor to Wahsington (not sure exactly where in it though lol) and has been speaking on the welfare state in America ever since. If nothing else then he story of rags to riches is amazing, since you may not agree with her opinions. Still I encourage everyone to read up on her and her messages, great stuff!

Mainly the Silver Star, because thats what I'd be looking for a list of.....

No, but both are achived for high bravery in action, the silver star is harder to get. The Gold star doesn't go to a soldier, but to the wife and parents of one who has been KIA. The Medal of Honor is the highest award, and was first given to a Union soldier in the Civil War in 1863 for crossing a railroad where the Confed army was by himself and did a one man attck.

Well the place where the Medal of Honor was won the most was Iwo Jima, I believe 23 or 27 were awarded there. There was Aubrey Humprey or whoever that starred in an awesome movie I've seen only bits of about the time he became the most decorated soldier in one day. Maybe Medal of Honor. Colin Powell won the Bronze and Silver star in Nam. There was a book I read about the people who won the Medal of Honor but the Bronze and Silver stars will probably be tough to find out about.
