Mets Get Delgado

The METS have Moved a step closer to that big time offense that is crucial to their success at Shea. He is a thumper who they desperately need. I thought they would go for Manny however Delgado is certainly less risky and cheaper. Probably a good move. Billy Wagner next, and we will be right in the middle of things.

All we need now is a catcher that can actually throw someone out at 2B and the Yankmees can say goodbye to being the best team in NY.

Don't put money on that.

Which of course will never happen, because their is only room for 1 good New York team in baseball, and that of course is the yankees.

Oh I'd say the Mets are on their way. I may not be the biggest fan of him, but Minaya is good at what he does. He gets guys to sign, and you can't deny that he's created a craze about the Mets, something the Jets sorley lack.
People are excited about the Mets because of guys like Pedro, and now Delgado.
This is what the Jets will never learn. You want to stop being hated, and earn some respect. Be a popular team?
DRAFT REGGIE BUSH!!!

ehh i know this is a long post, but just read it, lol i have alot of perspective on this offseason....
great pickup....petit was a good prospect, and jacobs looked good too, but he can drop off at any second, nothing is proven when a player comes up to the bigs and does good, because once pitchers figure him out, he could be less than average for the rest of his career. Then you have guys like David Wright who can adjust just as much as pitchers adjust to him.
anyway, we finally got a good cleanup hitter, the best since piazza in his prime, but if he wouldve just signed the deal last year it wouldve been cheaper, and we pretty much just gave up petit and jacobs for nothing if u think about it. ah well, put up numbers and well forget about them quick.
Next on the list is a catcher, and i hope that it is hernandez. Hernandez and molina have almost the same percentage (26 and 27) of runners thrown out (piazza had 14%), but hernandez is 2 years younger, the same bat if not better, and lets not forget the whole "Bengie Molasses" nickname....molina is one of the slowest runners in the league.
I think that once one of these catchers sign, that is when billy wagner will accept our deal, he already called this a "1 horse race", and right now the mets are offering the chance to contend unliek the phillies.
As for manny, minaya still has his eye on him, and said its not impossible to get him, and they agreed to talk to the sox about him at the winter meetings. The deal would be very complicated due to salary issues, but it could get done. If this happens, then im sorry, but we will definately contend the yankees for best team in NY (this year)
when minaya came to the mets, he said that this would not be a 1 year thing, he will not stop until he has the perfect team in his eyes on the field even if it takes a few years, and that is exactly what he is doing, adding piece by piece, and very soon we will contend for big games. This year is offense, and i think next year we will re-vamp the pitching staff, he already started, but we are not a great pitching club yet. Ive said it since last year, all i want to do is improve every year, first get above .500, and we did, and finished in 3rd, now this year i want to improve on that, i want to contend for the division, and definately a wild card.
Things are starting to look up for us, LETS GO METS!!
