Round 3 will be different this time. You will now have a deadline to make the pick, and not just the bland 30 minute deadline. I mean by a certain time you have to have your pick announced. You have a 30 minute deadline to make the pick. But that doesn't mean you have to wait all 30 minutes. You can wait 1, 5, 16, or all 30 to make the pick, just do it in time before the deadline. Let me show you a map of the whole thing (just an example).
Texans have to announce both picks by 12 AM.
Saints have to announce their pick by 12:30 AM.
Titans have to annouce their pick by 1:00 AM......
So just keep going on like that. Also, say the Saints make the pick at 12:20 AM. The Titans can also use that extra 10 minutes, but they still have to pick by 1 AM.
ONE MORE THING: Now, since we're a bit more on the same page, if you don't announce your pick in time, it's gone, dust, nothing, zip, nadda. No more of me getting on my nerves looking at every team's roster and depth chart looking at who to pick. Either you do it OR PM SOMEONE ELSE A LIST OF PLAYERS YOU'D PICK, or else nothing. No one will inherit that pick, it was just there and you move on.
So, when we can agree to a time to start off, let's go it.

One more thing- This is totally my fault for not thinking this through all the way ahead of time. I should've realized that people don't sit around waiting for some message board to start a mock draft. Hell, I was at a sleepover party and at baseball practice at Draft's start. My apologies guys, though you could do better than me announcing more than 70% of all picks.

IDK, I have to get some suggestions for time... But I did get your round 3 picks, so it's all good for you.

I think...if we started all over we should have made the draft at one time...maybe one round per day...and only given like 2 minutes per pick...that way people would plan on it and would most likely stay for the whole draft...atleast until their pick. You could have opened a chat room for it too for people to discuss and perhaps make last minute trades.

But now, with the whole process taking so long, people gave up and don't pay attention to it. So I don't think the next round is really going to work...a few will still make their picks...but it's pretty much a bust...

The thing is that it is hard to get ten guys together at one time, much less thirty-two. When I did the fantasy drafts there were twelve people drafting for less than twenty positions. With a week's notice I got three people to show up for the whole draft and one or two more who did the first few rounds before setting it to auto-draft.

The best way really is to do it so that everyone gets X amount of time, at a prescribed time. I'd say the best thing to do for next year is go see exactly how other boards do it and model your's on what you like in their's 08. A lot of them have been doing it for longer than we have (well, much longer since this was our first) and have already gone through the intial troubles that come with it.

I agree that it is hard to get 32 people together at one time. That's why I think it might be a good idea to be a little more selective about who you let do the draft. It might sound a little dick...but too many guys said they would do this who obviously never had any intention of following through.

I think if you organize it enough it could work...think of fantasy drafts...they work? If you make it that orgnaized and say someone will lose their pick in 2 minutes or else...i think it could work?

Oh well...a1's advice seems best...search around and see how other people did it.

But can we give this time slot thing a chance here?
