Jetsfan0099 Icon : (29 April 2016 - 05:12 PM) Lee isn't a pass rusher, hes a fast athletic LB. Hes probably their future at ILB, someone who can cover in the middle

Jetsfan115 Icon : (29 April 2016 - 09:02 PM) Or giving up on geno
Jetsfan115 Icon : (29 April 2016 - 09:02 PM) I said the rumor was they liked him more then cook
Mr_Jet Icon : (29 April 2016 - 11:35 PM) I know I'm biased, but I've seen them both play. Cook is just better. Hackenberg had one good year. Cook has won more games, played in big games and won them....whatever, its done now so no sense on dwelling on it I guess. I just don't see the appeal in Hackenberg, nice kid, but I always thought he was really overrated. Oh well. I would have taken Kevin Hogan over Hackenberg.
azjetfan Icon : (30 April 2016 - 03:47 PM) From what I have read so far he had a great freshman year under Obrien in a pro style offense. At that point some considered him the next Andrew luck. Then Obrien left and they shifted to a spread under new HC who did poor job bringing in talent. He was also sacked and hit a million times. Might be shell shocked.
Smedsthejet Icon : (01 May 2016 - 06:17 AM) But Chan Gailey runs a spread system - still, I'm comfortable with the Hackenberg pick seeing as Gailey will develop the system to suit his strength... I'm just glad that we passed on Paxton Lynch in the first...we still desperately need Fitz to re-sign though
azjetfan Icon : (01 May 2016 - 07:14 PM) From my understanding the spread in college and the spread in NFL are not the same principals. I really think it was more of a talent issue and getting sacked 80 times in 2 years that did him in. I have no idea if he will make it. I don't follow college ball enough to to know. Theses are just things I read in articles.
Jetsfan115 Icon : (02 May 2016 - 10:24 AM) I'm stoked about getting peake in the 7th round. that was a steal. he was a projected 3rd rounder. wonder what scared teams away

Jetsfan0099 Icon : (03 May 2016 - 05:16 PM) The Jets had Hackenberg as their #2 rated QB
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (03 May 2016 - 05:16 PM) Apparently, they loved Golf and tried to trade up. When that failed, their #2 QB was Hackenberg, they fell in love with his football IQ
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (03 May 2016 - 05:17 PM) It would be a mistake to start him right away, hes a guy who needs development. He has the talent, and apparently he has good leadership skills and football IQ. His mechanics are off though

What do you guys know about Kellen Clemmens QB Oregon. He seems to be moving up on some charts. NFL.com has him rated after Leinart, but ahead of Cutler, Young, Croyle, Whitehurst. I know he's not as tall as we would like. Apparently the Jets are meeting with him soon.

he blows, he missed more than half of this past season with an injury, and he wasnt exactly great before that, plus hes undersized.

There was an article today that said he was the #2 QB. Plus he's not undersized at 6'2".

"Lande's second-favorite quarterback is Oregon's Kellen Clemens, who has recovered from a broken ankle and will meet with the Jets Wednesday. Lande likes his quick release, arm strength, accuracy and toughness."

i heard otherwise...Arm strength is only average at best...Does not have great size...Struggles with his accuracy...Not a great athlete...Doesn't throw the deep ball well...Is too quick to leave the pocket and run...Makes some poor decisions and will force the action...Needs to stay calm and in control of his emotions...Has a limited upside.

I've never seen him play so who knows who's right.

ive seen him play and im good on oregon quarterbacks haha.....anyway back to clemens yeh he gets injured but supposedly they say he could be a decent pro... i think he should be a 5th 6th 7th rd. pick for a team but he could go late 2nd early 3rd. who knows we will have to wait and see

I saw a report which said he may be rising into the 2nd round (I don't think he'll go that high), but wouldn't be surprised if the Jets pick him with the last pick on day 1. They already have a visit scheduled with him.

I really don't get it. The guy's short with a week arm although he has a quick release.

Clemens is a quality QB. He's smart and doesn't make mistakes that cost the team. Players respond well to him and he seems to be a class act guy.

Being from Oregon I may be a little biases towards him but I hate the ducks. Go Beavs!

I like him, and feel that he will be our starter in 2008...and lead us to a 11-5, or 12-4 record yahoo.gif

Yeah, guess some people were COMPLETELY wrong about him. He's winning the battle against Chad and that's all I care about right now.

You'll understand that we bring back dead threads all the time. In fact when I first read the title I changed his name to be spelled correctly. But when I noticed it was from 2006 I put it back. Just goes to show how little anyone really knew about him. That was my biggest peeve when people mispelled his name routinely. He can answer all his critics this year by having a good showing. I'm rooting for the kid because I've seen something special in him. He's got what it takes to win unlike Chad Pennington.
