1997 - I met Derek Jeter and Tino Martinez at Garden State Plaza (Mall in NJ). They were on their way to eat a Ruby Tuesdays. Both were nice guys and gave me a autograph.

2003 - I moved to Tampa and at a latin night club I met Alfonso Soriano. The irony of this meeting was how we spoke about how he was the future of the Yankees and all. The VERY NEXT DAY: Soriano traded to Texas for AROD lol

2003 - At a different latin club on a different night, I sat on the same table as Jose Contreras of then the Yankees. Nice guy and all but the funny thing to me is how this was during the time where he was all sad about his wife and kids not being around because they were still in Cuba, yet he seemed to be VERY entertained with a hot latin brunette he was with lol.

2005 - I moved back to NJ and at times square I ran into Jim Jackson of the (insert NBA team here) lol. Anyway, my best friend who was fuckin stoned yells out, "Yo, that cat looks like Jim Jackson!"...Jim Jackson turns around and says, "I am Jim Jackson." My best friend then had this stunned look on his face and we all started laughing. Funny stuff lol.

2005 - I was fortunate enough to be on TV on a show called "Training Camp" on G4TV. I was on the episode for MLB2K5 and Heisman trophy winner Eddie George (the shows host) went to my house. I got flown to Atlanta and I got to meet the Atlanta Braves , Washington Nationals, and Cincinatti Reds entire rosters. I did 2 segments with Chad Cordero of the Nationals and Horacio Ramirez of the Braves. By far the coolest player I met on this trip was Wily Mo Peña of then the Reds. He was awesome, very cool, like talking to a old friend. I think alot of it had to do with me and him being Dominican brothers.

2006 - I moved back to Tampa (I know im a fuckin nomad). My barber happens to be the same barber Robinson Cano uses so one day as I waited to get a cut, he walks in and we begin to chit chat..very cool guy. He signed a pair of Rookie Cards for me.

Well I've kind of met one US athlete. While on holiday in Toronto I sat next to Maple Leafs hardman Tie Domi at breakfast in my hotel and no I didnt recognise him until the waiter told me at the end. blowup.gif
Also this was the morning after the night I had gone to a Leafs/Thrasher game and in that game Domi had gotten into a fight so I probably mentioned his name loads. That's the story of my brush with a celebrity/athlete.

Just yesterday I met Moose Skowron at the Yankees/Sox game. Really cool guy, pretty funny too. Ron Kittle and Dan Paqua were there too, but they didnt talk as much as him. Plus Moose was originally from the Yanks, went to 6 all star games with them and won 4 rings with 'em too. So I talked to him a bit, he signed my ball (perfect penmanship).

What about all thoughs Jets you met Chadforprez?

Met 6 of them.

Herman Edwards- This guy would make a better stand up comic or social even person. He was funny, talked to everyone he saw, autographed everything for everyone, shook everyone's hand (me included), all smiles and laughs. I like him.

Mike Nugent- Very much alike Herm, very talkative, always in a good mood (partially because I called him Mr. Nugent, why he signed my helmet in the first place), good guy.

Ben Graham- A little shy, but he talked to those who asked him questions and made comments. He's a good guy.

Donnie Henderson- I asked for an auto earlier but he had to go and promised me one later, so whe I asked later, he recognized me and came over to me and said he remembered me, I said that was cool and thanks when he left.

Chad Pennington- The reason he reinjured his arm is because he signed so many god damn things for everyone. Didn't talk much, said hey every here and there, but smiled a bit.

Jonathan Vilma- Signed for everyone who wanted something after practice, not very much into talking, he didn't say a word, but he went to everyone.

Curtis Martin- Some other people ruined if for me when it came to his auto 2 different times, but I high fived him and he talked to alot of people. Cool guy (as you'd expect).

Almost for got this guy, who hangs around Cooperstown:

Clete Boyer- He was sitting on a bench outside of a store who I think had him under a contract, he's a chain smoker and when I met him he was a bit hammered to say the least. But he talked to alot of people, told me some good advice on fielding, which ended up helping Derek Jeter become the fielder he is. No auto since you have to buy a ball in that store and me and my Dad already spent that at the other places we went. If we go next year, which we very much so will, I'll get his auto.

Hey Chad for prez, not to be a jerk, but I dissagree with calling players by mr. last name. I've had very goods succes saying thier first names, unless they are already signing autos. I think if you justy say for example mr. rowand or my nugent, thiell just think your just some kid who dos'nt know who they are and just looking for autos. If you say their first name, the'll know that you know who they are. Not to be rude or anything. Thats how I got to wave to aaron rowand, and meet ryan howard and jimmy rollins.

Well think of it this way, if you're talking to your friend's Mom or Dad, do you call them their first name or Mr.Smith or Mrs. Smith (just an example)??? Do you call your teacher Bob or Mr. Johnson??? It's a sign of respect, and I look at these people as roll models, they're gods to me. It simply wouldn't feel right.
Let me explain what happened with Mr. Nugent.
He had signed some autos to a bunch of people way ahead of me, and was intent on getting to the field, passing a bunch of people yelling "Mike!!! Mike!!!." It didn't look like he was gonna sign anything anymore, but I thought what the heck, I have nothing to lose. Among the zillions of "MIKE's!!!" and NUGE's" I barely raised my voice to a yell, saying "Mr. Nugent!!! Mr.Nugent!!!" His head snapped right up towards me, I said it one more time and he came right to me. He walked towards me, looking straight at me, but when he saw the guy next to us (the guy had a little baby) he signed for him and came up to me, signed and talked a little bit, signed for one or two more people next to me, and went off, not signing another thing, and the thing that stuck out: Everyone was yelling "MIKE!!!" But not this camper.

Interesting, I guess different things go for different people, if I see Aaron Rowand and want his auto I'll call him Aaron, but if you see Mr. Nugent around, be ready to know what to say.

When you go to training camp, they won't charge you, just line up and they'll walk up and down signing. But if you go to a public signing, (which is like at a card show where they'll have a couple players there signing) you'll have to pay, sometimes though you don't, like when I met Moose Skowron. But sometimes they can range from $5-$300, depending on the player and ow much the player wants to charge.
