Offensive Summary:
The New York Jets are coming into the season with high expectations, while the New York Jets fans are coming into the season with low expectations. The Jets are lead by injury prone quarterback Chad Pennington. He is known as one of the best quarterbacks in the league, when he is healthy, so he is rearly healthy, which means he's never going to be the best. The Jets are really bad at the running back position, and nobody knows what to expect, espescially with Curtis Martin out until Week 7. While he is gone the Jets will have Kevan Barlow, Cedric Houston, Leon Washington, and Derrick Blaylock. The Jets best offensive playmaker is Laveranues Coles. With Chad back in action, Coles, and Chad are expected to get back where they started in 2002.
Grade: C+

Defensive Summary
The Jets defensive has been solid for the last couple of season, and this season again they are lead by stud head hunting Linebacker Jonathan Vilma. The Jets are making a change from the 4-3 defense to the 3-4 defense allingnment. The question is how will their stud linebackers be able to change to this. A lot of people claim how small Vilma is and the 3-4 allignment isin't a good thing for him. Thats what this year is all about. How with that Jets defense adapt to the change from the 4-3 to the 3-4. The Defensive backs look good with Andre Dyson, Justin Miller, David Barrett, Erik Coleman, and Kerry Rhodes, so you should expect a lot of interceptions from these guys.
Grade: B

New York Jets 2006 Schedule
Week 1: @ Tennessee
- Both teams are really bad, and who knows what to expect from a team that just picked up a quarterback up out of retirement.

Week 2: Vs. New England
- Division joke vs. Division favorite. Will the Jets put up a fight? Who Knows. The Jets are such a joke they shouldn't bother showing up.

Week 3: @ Buffalo
- The two teams that are expected to do much in the AFC East. Will one of these shock the world, or will both of them just die out, like they're expected.

Week 4: Vs. Indianapolis
- Expect this game to just get ugly.

Week 5: @ Jacksonville
- Expect a low scoring game, from both these Marshall Alum quarterbacks. Both offenses are very weak, it will be a battle of which defense is better, which is most likely Jacksonville.

Week 6: Vs. Miami
- Miami expecting to do a lot this year, are the experts just overhyping this team, or are the Dolphins really the real deal.

Week 7: Vs. Detroit
- The Jets might actually win a couple of games around this date.

Week 8: @ Cleveland
- Another win that should come easy for the Jets.

Week 9: BYE Week

Week 10: @ New England
- Back to the hard games of the season.

Week 11: Vs. Chicago
- Expect the Jets offense to be ugly on this game

Week 12: Vs. Houston
- An Easy game?!?! what a surprise, maybe they will win!!!

Week 13: @ Green Bay
- WOW! 2 in a row, or is it? Favre is a dangerous QB, who knows if he'll be amazing this game.

Week 14: Vs. Buffalo
- Another should-be win for the New York Jets, maybe this schedule isin't so bad... lol

Week 15: @ Minnesota
- Teams might look to be even at the point of this game.

Week 16: @ Miami
- Like I wrote earlier, Dolphins for real, or not?!?!

Week 17: Vs. Oakland
- Should-be win again for the Jets to end the season.

Right now I don't have a clue who I am going to start, when I practiced when making my sliders in exhibition mode, I always had the most success with Cedric Houston, I am just going to debate who starts through who has the best preseason stats. Also, the reason why I picked Brad Smith in the catching one is that I use a lot of 4 wide reciever sets, and I perfer Brad Smith over Tim Dwight.

Week 1 Pre-Game Show, New York Jets @ Tennessee Titans

Jets Offense Vs. Titans Defense

The Jets have a new beginning with rookie head coach Eric Mangini, and everybody is prediciting them to be nothing this year. They are also claiming how can Chad Pennington be as solid as he was in the past after two injuries to his throwing arm. The Tennessee Titans have a solid defensive line with Haynesworth, and Vandenbosch up there, they also have one of the best linebackers in the league in Keith Bullock, so it looks like the Jets running game may have trouble running the ball against the Titans. The Jets only real threat is Coles, and he can't do it all by himself.
Edge: Titans

Titans Offense Vs. Jets Defense

Vince Young won the the battle for the quarterback position in Tennessee, and he will make his first professional start. The Jets will have to watch this guy very carefully, because he can make a game changing play very easily. The Titans should run the ball alot because nobody really knows how this Jets 3-4 defense can handle the run, and with Vince Young as the quarterback it's a bad news for the Jets. The Jets should make the rookie make a lot of mistakes, and make him throw some intercpetions, therefore this is why the Jets will win this battle, Rookie mistakes.
Edge: Jets

Coaching

The Jets have a new coach running the show here, and you can say good-bye the conservative ol' Herman Edwards. The Titans have veteran head coach Jeff Fisher at the helm for another season. If the Titans don't have a good season soon, you might be finding Fisher out the door soon. This guy, Eric Mangini came out of New England, so you know there is something good about this guy, and you'll have to just watch to find out whats the story on this guy.
Edge: PUSH

Jets Keys to Victory:

1. Get Chad Pennington, and Coles in a rhythm to see if the two can get back to their 2002 form

2. Make Vince Young make rookie mistakes, and keep him in the pocket

3. Find a good runningback to find out who will be the #1 starter

Titans Keys to Victory:

1. Vince Young needs to play like he did with Texas in the National Championship

2. Put pressure on Chad Pennington to see if he can still hack it in the NFL

3. Vince Young has to pass the ball to Drew Bennett, with his height he is unstopable to cover

Week 2 Pre-Game Show: New England Patriots @ New York Jets

Jets Offense Vs. Patriots Defense:

With the many mistakes the Jets had in the first game against a team like Tennessee, you can only imagine what a team like the Patriots could do. Chad Pennington needs to continue to find Coles like they did in week one, where Coles caught 11, for 199 yards. The running isin't as bad as we thought, but it isin't really that good either. The Patriots will most likely make the Jets look horriable, especially with players like Junior Seau, Richard Seymour, Vince Wilfork, Mike Vrabel, Rodney Harrison. This might be a long game for the Jets, and their fans.
Edge: Patriots

Patriots Offense Vs. Jets Defense

Here's good news for the Jets, Tom Brady is out for the game, and if the Jets pressure the patriots backup quarterback this could be a very low scoring game which is what everyone is expecting since Brady is out. It's bad enough that the Patriots don't have many good recievers, but now they don't have their mvp quarterback, who knows how ugly this could be for the Patriots. The good for the Patriots is, they need to get the ball to their running backs to keep the game in their advantage, which most likely they will do since the Jets don't have the best run defense.
Edge: Push

Coaching

Eric Mangini vs. Mentor, Bill Belichick: Round 1. Who will come out the winner in this battle? Nobody really knows how this Mangini era will happen, but since his mentor is Bill Belichick, everyone will be expecting great things from him. But, those great things will most likely not be happening right now. The Patriots have a clear advantage right now, maybe not in the future though.
Edge: Patriots

Jets Keys to Victory

1. Chad to Coles

2. Make the Patriots back-up quarterback look bad

3. Have the Defense stop the Patriots running game from get going

Patriots Keys to Victory

1. Have a good mix of run, and pass because the Jets defense will be expecting run for the most of the game, with Brady out.

2. Make the Jets below average running backs look like they never wanted to play this game.

3. Force Chad to make as much mistakes as the Titans did.
