SecondHandJets Icon : (Today, 03:21 PM) None of the NY media even mention Cruz or Nicks
Jetsfan115 Icon : (Today, 03:40 PM) nicks isn't holding out. he's injured still and taking it easy. cruz is holding out. why it isn't a big ordeal IDK. it would be for us
Jetsman05 Icon : (Today, 04:02 PM) maybe because theyre not that far off.
Jetsman05 Icon : (Today, 04:02 PM) Cruz wants to return back, they'll figure it out.
Jetsfan115 Icon : (Today, 04:41 PM) 3 mil a year off or 30% less then cruz wants. tahst alot of money to be off
Jetsfan115 Icon : (Today, 04:41 PM) cruz doens't want to leave NY cause teh extra money he'll get in endorsements plus he knows taht they can RFA him this year and then Franchise next year so he might not be able to get a LTD for 3 years
Mr_Jet Icon : (Today, 05:21 PM) Clemens11/Tebow15 (soon to be Smith7) said if we had just drafted Crabtree and Nicks and kept Clemens, we'd be good.

Fair enough:

1. Assante Samuel
2. A DT so the Jets could move DRob to DE
3. Briggs
4. [Ideal Situation] - Trade JMac and a 3rd for M. Turner

NT - Terrdel Sands - 6'7" 335 lbs - The short term answer to our NT problem kills 2 birds with one stone. This guy allows us to move D Rob to DE...and suddenly our line is solid. However, I'm not sure we need a NT. There were some big free agent bodies last year...and we didn't pursue...so maybe Mangini really is OK with Tui and Pouha. Let's hope so...that would be great.

OT - Leonard Davis - Takes over for Clements and makes our run game actually effective.

That's it...than some small time guys Mangini thinks will fit his system. Some may say Asante Samuel...but he may cost too much...so I say no. If we can get him at a fair price...than sure go for it...but with his gaudy numbers...he's sure to go high.

You know what, we have 28 mil. in cap space and plenty of money. Go get Samuel, how much is a real shut down corner worth? Two good corners does so much for a D.
Give me a big fat NT and Samuel and our D would be very improved,

How are you guys putting Asante at the top of the list? We're actually pretty good at CB. With another year in the system we have some good up and coming DB's.

We need a DT or DE if we don't move DRob. That is our #1 priority. We also need a RB and LB upgrade in the worst way. Every other area we can build through the draft.

Yeah and if you spend it all this year we won't have it next year...

Plus...this is the kind of orgnizatoin that's going to build through the draft...the way it should be done. If we do that we need to sign our own guys long term. Jerricho Cotchery definitely needs to be signed. Victor Hobson could be resigned. Rhodes eventually will need to be resigned.

Build through the draft...keep your own players...that is how you win.

Not by signing a bunch of other teams retreads...ehum...Redskins....eh...

A need no one has really been talking about from what ive seen is OG. Look at what shawn andrews has done for the eagles he is a beast. Granted if we continue to use leon as our main back having a OT like leonard davis would be huge because of all the offtackle running. But the key to making our run game better is the OG position. Moore is not only not very good but also extremely penalty prone. Kendall id have to say is good but not great and aging. h eis probably also more cerebral than physical. I also think we need to look DL beyond just NT. I dont know if ellis, as much as I love him, is the answer at DE in 3-4...we need some dominators up front.

FINALLY!!!! A REAL BIG BOY!!!

I agree about Ellis...he isn't the answer...but for now he's OK. I think we should draft a guy in the middle rounds like Baraka Atkins to groom and take over for Ellis in a year or so.

I agree with Ronny here. I really like Miller, he's gonna be great especially because his work ethic has improved vastly. And anyway, I dont think the Pats are gonna let Samuels go. He's the reason they let Ty Law go.

Thus, I like the idea of letting Miller start on the other side and really working hard with him this offseason. Everyone said the kid was raw when he came out... he's still learning and when he gets there he's gonna be amazing.

I though Ellis quietly had a great season, like almost all pro. He blew up plays in the backfield and set up alot of sacks. He could of easily had 8-9 sacks this year. Ellis was our best D-linemen this year, with Robertson behind him. We do need a guy to replace him in the future though, since he will be 30 next year. But we need a replacement now for Kimo, I think that Cory Redding would be a good pickup for that. While we draft a DT/DE high in the draft.
I just want one big FA signing, I think they could do that, I would want Samuel, I was watching him yesterday, he played great. He has great coverage skills, he is a up and coming CB, atleast we can try and get him away from the Pats. That would hurt them big time. I want to trade or cut Barrett, so that would save some money for the future, he is good but, he lacks speed and when we blitz if we dont get to the QB, then he can get torched because of it.

Thats why I said to sign Eric Steinbach, he is a OG, and a really good one too, he can play OT also. He is verstile, doubt we would go after him.

I agree on both parts and feel that Eric Steinbach would be a great pickup as Kendall is very much on the wrong side of 30 and Brandon Moore had an on and off season for the most part. However the one knock with Steinbach is that in New York he'd be surrounded by a lot of water and may fancy taking another drunken boat trip, like he did earlier in the season, and earn himself another DUI. crazy.gif

Samuel would be by main target as a FA but I wouldn't call him an up and coming CB. Remember he had 10 INTs this year, level with Champ Bailey, so IMO he is already one of the elite NFL CBs.

I really dont know about Miller, I mean he improved his play alot during the season at CB. At first he stunk, but later in the year he did good, he is a very good tackler, and a big time hitter. Plus he doesnt get beat deep, he has great speed. He still should of had that int against the Pats. But still if we try and wait for these guys, then we wont be good again next year, Idk if we can trust Miller for next season. I really wish we started Miller all season. Barrett isnt good for us, he is too slow and is prone to the deep throw on the blitz. Samuel is a guy that knows the system and is a great up and coming player. I would love for us to take him away from the Pats. I had my eye on Samuel for like 3 years now.

That's the biggest misconception what you just said. Remember that we will probably resign,Cotchery,Hobson and Mangini. There won't be as much money as you think there will be. Just remember to factor in that point when you talk about F.A's

He is kinda a up and coming player for the fact that he keeps on improving. He didnt make the probowl so he is still on the rise, untill he becomes a CB that makes it every year and is well known, but his 10 picks does attract attention. I think that, that may be the reason we dont get him because of his 10 picks, and he is going to want some kind of contract. Especially since he had another int against us in the playoffs for a TD, and is playing amazing in the playoffs. Would absolutly love to sign this guy though.

I don't think they do but they take up money from the organisation, which includes cap money. The lower revenue teams find it hard to use all their cap money because of this.
