Yes, the Jets need a receiver, but it's the deepest receiver draft in years, and they can find a good one in the second round. This would mark the fifth straight year with a defensive pick in Round 1.

I would love it if we did land Okoye, he would be a nice pickup, since he would be a back up at first.

Nah, I believe he'll start his first year, because we'll be moving Robertson to End. Then the front 7 would look like:

DE Robertson
NT Okoye
DE Ellis

OLB Thomas
ILB Vilma
ILB Barton
OLB Hobson

Not a bad one but just some quick things I noticed.
- Jax taking Johnson at DE, they already have so much money invested on the DL as it is, I'd be suprised if they picked another one in the first round. Not a big deal, but I would be a little suprised.
-Cowboys taking a guard at 22. I know they could use some O-Line help but I could definately see them going in a different direction. Maybe Wr? Owens could be gone, and both he and Glenn are getting old.
-Seahawks taking Revis another corner in the first round. Don't get me wrong I like Revis alot, could definately see him as a Jet, but the Hawks just took Jennings in the 1st round last year and also have Trufant as a former 1st round corner. I don't really see that happening.
-Eagles do need a better safety next to Dawkins but I can bet they go linebacker in the 1st round. That is definately their weakest unit.
-I can see Moss fitting in well with that Ravens D, would be another scary addition and a good replacement for Thomas, but they do have some needs on the offensive side, maybe a RB for them.

Overall though I think its a pretty solid 1st round particularly the top 10. After that its always tough to predict.

I don't know much about Okoye, but I do know that he is only 19 years old. It would be very difficult for him to come in and start from day one. If he fell to them and they took him I would love it, but more than likely he'll take at least a year before he'll be a reliable starter...

Im not saying your rong im just saying if Ginn gets taken before Smardija there is sumthin rong. the only reason Ginn could be ranked over Jeff is return ability, as a WR Samardija owns him. Ginn improved his hands this year but Id still take Jeff over him anyday at WR.

You are right, Jeff is a better WR then Ginn, but the fact is that Jeff plays baseball also. It really depends on if he quits baseball. He might not even play in the NFL, because the Cubs dont want him to play football.

Not saying that Robertson will play end or not, but Okoye if we draft him wont be the starter. If he does then we are in trouble, because I dont think he is a NFL ready type player, he is more of a project guy. Since he is 19 and he will be best served as a back up for his first year, so he can gain weight and shit. I may be wrong, he may come in and dominate, just my feelings though. I say we would sign a vetern NT if we did move Robertson to DE, maybe that Sands guy.

I'm not trying to say whether or not Okoye can be an instant starter...but the fact he is 19 has nothing to do with it. He is a four year starter...that's a lot more experience than you get with most prospects...and the reason why he is a 19 year old senior is because he is so smart. So either way you look at it...he's a seasoned prospect. So the only real justification we have to say he can't be an instant starter is he might have to bulk up to play NT.

Being 19 absolutely has something to do with it. He is 3 years behind everybody else in his physical development. He's still filling out and so, he is not yet at his playing weight. I don't doubt that he will be a great player, but he will be a lot better at 22-23 then he is at 19.

Thats what I meant, he has to bulk up more before he can be a full time starter.

When I say development, I'm not just talking about his size. The fact is the guy is not fully developed yet. There's a reason guys who are 19 years old don't start in the NFL...

NT or DTs usually take a while to become good, especially NTs. Sometimes they dont do good their first year. Example Vince Wilfork, he didnt do good his rookie season, but had a great 2nd year. Okoye is a guy that may take a year or 2 to develop because of his size and age. He is a guy that wont reach his potiential for like 3-4 years if even. It will take till he is 23-24 for us to see his potiential.

pretty solid draft but okoye isnt going to fall into our lap at 25. i've never seen a mock draft were he's gone higher than 18 and i've seen a couple where he goes top 10 and his stock is only going to rise come draft considering he will have an incredible combine and Alan Branch's is falling, the lack of quality DTs and the fact that he's only 19 we would probably have to give up one of 2nd rounders to get him but i like him so much i might not mind

these are the guys i consistenly see us getting on mock drafts
Mccauley(Fresno st) CB, and Adam Carriker DE Nebraska and lamar woodley....

The point is that people grow between 19 and 23. You can't just look at his size and say "he's over 300 lbs. He must be fully developed." The guys still growing. There's a reason that the NFL has always had the rule that guys can't just go straight to the NFL out of high school. It's because typically, guys who are 19 shouldn't be playing with the monsters in the NFL. This guys is huge, but that doesn't mean he's ready to just come in and start right off the bat.

When I say development, I'm not just talking about his size. The fact is the guy is not fully developed yet. There's a reason guys who are 19 years old don't start in the NFL...

Yeah...that reason is because they're still in college...

Okoye may be the first player to ever be drafted at 19 years old...

He has had four years of starting...is already 317 pounds of MUSCLE...and already has good on field production...

Of course he'll be better in 3 or 4 years...I would hope so...and of coure he hasn't reached his potential...these are all givens.

What I'm saying is he can start his rookie year...he is not an unpolished prospect...he is an unfinished prospect. Big difference here...a guy like Louis Leonard will be drafted on potential because he is a 350 pounder. But a guy like Okoye is being drafted because of potential and production. He is already good, what makes him scary is he has so much more room to develop. If Okoye wasn't already a good player...he wouldn't be considered a first rounder. You wouldn't draft a guy simply based on being 19 years old. What makes Okoye so intriguing is he already produces on the field...and he still has so much room to grow!!!

So my point is...he can likely start his rookie year...and yes...he will hopefully get even better and even bigger in the following seasons!!!

I like the pick but the only downside of this guy is his age. you have to remember that this kid is the age of most freshmen in college. he has alot of upside but like a few have said "he is a project." i cant see this guy playing for at least 2 years so he can physically catch up to the rest of the playing feild. He is a boy amoung men and although he has the size he is only 19 and can get much bigger. I wouldnt be upset if we picked the guy because the jets are also a young team. He may be ready to play by the time the jets are ready to make a real run towards the playoffs....(yea we got there this year but id say it was more because of our weak schedule.) Not a bad pick at all but again he is a project and will need to work hard to be able to play with the big boys of the NFL...

i didn't read the whole thing but okoye is not falling to us, if we want him we'll have to trade up fro him. he'll go top 15, top 20 at worst, his stok is soaring really fast. and btw i follow the draft year around, jeff samarja isn;t going in the 1st round. he'd be happy if he goes in the top half of the 2nd round. right now, we could probably be looking at tank tyler but he might go higher and pit*beep* as well. carricker's stock has really fallen btw. right now he'd go in the top 10 picks in the 2nd round. just my 2 cents.
