It seems pretty likely he'll be gone. I would imagine we could still get something in a trade for him...it would be a shame to have to just cut him...

you guys are rediculouse, Mccariens from what i've seen, he's been catching big plays and gone unoticed, it's not the skills folks it's the fact that he's not in every play, i'm sure if he is, he'd def produce. he's a good 3rd down back and possibly and 2nd if given the chance

Well McCariens is a WR...not a RB...and he was given the chance to be a # 2 WR. Mangini decided to give the job to Cotchery...and I don't think anyone can complain about that decision!

McCariens is a great # 4 WR...yes...but he's payed way too much to be a # 4 WR.

he def is payed to much to be #4 plus mangini thinks he's a dog....not sure why but he must know something we dont........but there is plenty of depth in this years draft a wr but i would rather us use baker more often in the passing game along with a TE from the Draft that is athletic and can stretch the field

If he takes a paycut I say keep him, if not dump him as he is earning too much to not be on the field every play.
I doubt we'd get much for him in a trade though as he hasn't produce at a high level since coming over from Tennessee and so hasn't really progressed as predicted. The fact he lost his job adds to this.

He seems to be a real deep threat, but unfortunately his receptions have gone down each of the last 3 years. I wouldn't mind them keeping him, but he would have to take a pay cut. If he's willing to do that, he should stay, but who knows. It's hard to say if they can really get anything for him. Teams know that the Jets hands are tied. They can't continue to pay him number 2 money if he's only gonna be their number 3 or 4 guy. I think there's a good chance he'll get cut, but maybe they could get a late round pick for him.

he makes way too much to not be a starting WR on our team. also, his situation makes it tough for him to get out of the funk. he isn't a starter, and knows he won't be, so human nature makes you not play as well/hard, like those INTs chad threw in the green bay game. it was obvious he wouldn't be able to catch those but instead of playing D on the CB, he kinda watched them float and get picked off. another main reason he should be gone is that we need to get brad smith on the field as much as possible. i hope our starting 3 next season is coles, cotchery, and smith. if hes the slot guy, we can do so many things with him and the D will always have to account for him. being the 3rd WR, he should be on the field more than 60% of the time and it will throw the D off balance. with some good playcalling, we can do what the saints did with their trickery, except smith can also throw the ball.

I am saying that to trade him his contract is too big, and he isnt worth it so no other team would want him. We would most likely either cut him, or have him take a pay cut, he is a decent #3 WR. So if he did take the pay cut, I would keep him.

Yea the problem is when we traded for McCariens, that is what we got a slot WR, he is not a starting WR, he played behind Mason and Bennet at the Titans. If you look at his 2003 stats, he gets like 3 catchs a game, at most! He mainly gets 1 to 2. But those catchs he does get are on deep throws, when he is matched up against a smaller nickel CB. I would keep him, but again he needs to take a pay cut. We used him later in this year the way he was used, you line him up and once and a while you throw one deep to him, he runs like a 4.4 and is 6-2, I defintely would keep him to be a 3rd string WR. He showed that he can handle that while Cotchery and Coles have the starting jobs.

Ron you are just plain mean. jmac didn't turn into the guy we thought we were getting a TD machine
but he is a disciplined /seasoned pro and is a luxury to have on the depth chart .
