New York Jets owner, Woody Johnson, named US ambassador to the UK

MikeGangGree... Icon : (01 January 2017 - 04:00 PM) J-E-T-S JETS JETS JETS!
MikeGangGree... Icon : (01 January 2017 - 05:56 PM) OK so Bill O brien and Sean Payton might get fired according to Fox this morning
MikeGangGree... Icon : (01 January 2017 - 05:56 PM) I would do anything to get one of them as OC
santana Icon : (02 January 2017 - 02:19 PM) texans coach? i doubt he gets fired
santana Icon : (02 January 2017 - 02:19 PM) but he would be ideal if the jets were to flush bowles out
santana Icon : (02 January 2017 - 04:36 PM) http://www.nj.com/je...trol_of_je.html
azjetfan Icon : (05 January 2017 - 09:54 PM) Sean Payton will get another HC gig. Obrien would be good.
azjetfan Icon : (09 January 2017 - 11:18 PM) Howard from Alabama seems legit. #88 TE
azjetfan Icon : (09 January 2017 - 11:20 PM) Williams the WR from Clemson looks like they are out to get him. He has taken some huge hits
vjdbbq Icon : (10 January 2017 - 07:12 AM) We'll take Williams in the first round .
Chadforpresi... Icon : (10 January 2017 - 10:48 AM) I'd love Howard in the 2nd round if he's still there. I like Williams a lot as well, but I just don't see WR being big enough of a need, and there should be better talent on the board at 6
Jetsfan115 Icon : (10 January 2017 - 07:21 PM) Raiders OC Musgrave not expected to return to OAK. what do you think about getting him? he did wonders with the oakland offense this year
Chadforpresi... Icon : (10 January 2017 - 07:39 PM) Definitely an appealing choice given with his history of progressing Carr. We need someone with a track record of grooming young QBs
MikeGangGree... Icon : (12 January 2017 - 12:36 PM) I want Watson now! after what he did Monday night I'm sold on him at QB. He moved the ball all night on Alabama and after hurts scored that TD he just told his team "Lets end this"
Jetsfan115 Icon : (12 January 2017 - 06:31 PM) An Ohio prosecutor says he wants to know what punishment Cincinnati Bengals player Adam "Pacman" Jones faces from the NFL before deciding how to proceed over Jones' latest arrest, Dan Sewell of the Associated Press reports..

Hamilton County Prosecutor Joe Deters tells WKRC-TV he's asking "what is the normal" for a player with multiple offenses and who's been suspended before.

An NFL spokesman said on Thursday that Jones' case is "under review" and declined to comment further.

Jones was jailed Jan. 3 on charges he head-butted police and spit on a nurse after his arrest for assault. Authorities say he was so combative he had to be placed in a restraint chair.

Jones says he anticipates the charges will be dismissed.
Jetsfan115 Icon : (12 January 2017 - 06:32 PM) we wont get watson. he's going 1st overall to the browns
azjetfan Icon : (12 January 2017 - 09:06 PM) Is Watson a product of Clemson's staff and supporting cast? Taj Boyd also put up some decent numbers if I remember correctly but he couldn't even make a scout team in the NFL.
azjetfan Icon : (12 January 2017 - 09:11 PM) From what I have read (although limited) he is not the highest ranked QB in the draft.
azjetfan Icon : (12 January 2017 - 09:11 PM) "No quarterback in this draft -- not Mitch Trubisky, not Watson, not DeShone Kizer -- is considered a sure thing. The folks at Scouts Inc. rank Trubisky, Watson and Kizer as the 21st, 38th and 46th prospects on their big board, respectively." ESPN
azjetfan Icon : (12 January 2017 - 09:12 PM) If we can get a decent return for Richardson we may be able to make a move into the mid teens to early 20s if the Brass really likes Watson.
azjetfan Icon : (12 January 2017 - 09:13 PM) Personally I don't think the jets have a clue on who they will take. We still have to hit FA and manage our roster
azjetfan Icon : (12 January 2017 - 11:46 PM) Jets to interview Broncos assistant Studesville for OC
Jetsfan115 Icon : (13 January 2017 - 01:28 PM) Why? seems like a weird choice
Jetsfan115 Icon : (13 January 2017 - 01:29 PM) Leonard Williams replacing Khalil Mack in Pro Bowl
Chadforpresi... Icon : (13 January 2017 - 09:49 PM) I'm not buying Watson, even after that championship game. Dude threw too many picks in his day
Chadforpresi... Icon : (13 January 2017 - 09:49 PM) I'm really curious to see what we get for Richardson, but I have a bad feeling his value is at an all time low between his crap season and bad attitude
azjetfan Icon : (14 January 2017 - 12:16 AM) I agree. He is a first round talent but a fourth round headache. We will be lucky to get a 2nd
Chadforpresi... Icon : (14 January 2017 - 08:41 AM) Yeah precisely. 2nd rounder would be a huge stretch. 3rd or 4th is more likely
vjdbbq Icon : (14 January 2017 - 02:18 PM) Send Sheldon someplace he will never see the playoffs ; like Jacksonville ; then he will have time to find da ho's .
azjetfan Icon : (14 January 2017 - 07:25 PM) R Sherman is getting torched by the Falcons.
vjdbbq Icon : (16 January 2017 - 09:37 AM) Pats vs Pitt - root for injuries
Jetsfan115 Icon : (16 January 2017 - 12:36 PM) GB-ATL game is gonna be a hell of a shootout. that throw rodgers made on 3rd and 20 with 12 seconds left in a tied game was ridiculous. 35 yards rolling out to his left a perfect placed ball on the sideline.
azjetfan Icon : (16 January 2017 - 10:50 PM) Winters resigned to 4 year deal. $7 million per year
Chadforpresi... Icon : (16 January 2017 - 10:51 PM) Seems like a slightly steep price but overall cool with it, he's turned into a good player and is still young. Just needs to stay healthy.
Jetsfan115 Icon : (17 January 2017 - 04:12 PM) seems like a good deal. they were saying he could have earned over 8 million in the open market
vjdbbq Icon : (18 January 2017 - 08:12 AM) Where's Rob ?
vjdbbq Icon : (18 January 2017 - 08:12 AM) Is he looking for a new ass ?
vjdbbq Icon : (18 January 2017 - 08:12 AM) :saythat:
vjdbbq Icon : (18 January 2017 - 08:13 AM) :trink39:
Jetsfan115 Icon : (18 January 2017 - 01:32 PM) 4 years 29 mil 15 mil guarenteed. so 7.25mil a year for winters. a nice bargain. he took a hometown discount. seems like a good guy. well done winters and mac
Jetsfan115 Icon : (18 January 2017 - 04:33 PM) Jets hire Dennard Wilson as defensive backs coach
Jetsfan115 Icon : (19 January 2017 - 04:01 PM) Trump to name Jets' owner Woody Johnson U.K. ambassador
vjdbbq Icon : (19 January 2017 - 06:04 PM) Maybe Woody will take the Jets with him to London . PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE

i think the old gen will become a classic. kind of like blitz99-2001 in the arcade. sick game but the new gen blitz was garbage. i see this transition being the same.. a lot of that straight forward ball we are use to with the dummy physics and competitive play will be missed. the new gen should open up a more dynamic play though. i dont think games will be as straight forward as they were.. a lot will involve smarts and a good mix of money plays.

only time will tell! cant wait to try it. i have that feeling that the first time i run the ball.. i will instantly know if this game is worth my time or not.

Anyone who knows me knows I'm a straight up NG HATER!.. 06 and 07 were miserable and I'd be the first to tell you don't waste you're money. Sh!t I still keep my old xbox strictly for CG madden. It's been in my console for 6 months because it's all I play because I need me a football game to play.

However.. usually around this time of year (over the past 2) have been articles about everything other then gameplay. Grafics, player bio's and stadium renders etc... but everything I've heard has been really, really good. They are focusing everything on gameplay and I truthfully think that this is a make or break year for EA and NG madden football. Even the producers had said repeatedly that the games have been lacking severely. The onus has been nothing but gameplay and with the license that EA has with the NFL and the fact that 2k isn't going anywhere and breathing down EA's back I really feel that this years madden for NG will be worth it finally!! I think I will be making the switch this year.

Why make the switch IMO?

-They have toned down the grafics actually so they can fully utilize all their gameplay options
- They are now running 60 frames per second as opposed to 30
- They will now send out patches for next gen console to rid away of glitches and cheese (FINALLY!)
- They have massively tightened up the gameplay
-Everything from CG will be in the game plus a lot more
- There will be things from NG that won't be on CG--

Look at the gameplay footage I posted... That is still an unfinished and unpolished game and it looks damn good. Go back and read all the articles I've posted in this thread and you'll be able to see that there not messing around this year.

I will more then likely make the switch this year. This game is looking like a winner

I'm not sure I'm gonna buy it. I'll tell you, I finally broke my addiction to video games and madden in general. I don't think I wanna get back into it. I mean, I used to play that game ALL the time. I don't care if it's great, I dont think I wanna get hooked on video games again. It's such a time waster.

I saw a segment on how intead of the back getting caught on the pile, he either pushes the pile forward if he is a power back, or slides off if he is a finesse back. With that being said, I think all those stupid old glitches like the route bumping interference and the getting caught on people should be eliminated. Hopefully they have addressed the vacuum tackling and juking this year.

The secret to enjoying video games is moderation not elimination. its not a waste of time, its a form of entertainment when your bored. i only have a few hours a week to play games so its not like it takes over my life. and i only play on sundays. its the only day i'm home. during the week, my home is just a place to sleep and eat when i finally make it there lol. same with saturday. sunday i usually spend home so i can do laundry, clean up etc and relax. and i choose to relax by playing a video game.

now if your playing hours and hours each day then that could be an issue, only if u want it to be, but still its your choice. if you can't play them w/o getting addicted u have issues.

Thanks Dr. Phil!

I actually don't want to spend any time playing video games anymore is what I was getting at. There are much better things to do like playing basketball, drinking with friends, etc...

lol. its possible to find time to do it all. i work 60 hour weeks, play softball (company softball team) go to the gym, go out (either dates or drinking with friends/clubbing) and still find a few hours a week to play games. its not easy but its possible. sometimes u need to relax and its either watching a movie or playing games and i'd rather be playing games. i see what u say though. just not enough hours in the day.

Producer blogs.. EA

This is a segment on SIDELINE CATCHING.. this has never before been seen from EA. Yet another aspect of Madden football on NG that is really impressive.

There is a small write up and video of these catches. Pretty amazing. These aren't all the catches they make just a few. Looks pretty damn good.

Madden NFL 08 Extended Hands-On
Next-gen football has finally arrived.
by Nate Ahearn
June 15, 2007 - The last two years of Madden on next-gen have not lived up to the hype. It was the only pigskin offering out there so we tolerated it, enjoyed it as much as we could, and had several nights of heated matchups between friends - though never with two people on one team. This year Madden is back in a big way, with all of the trimmings that you'd expect from a true next-gen football experience. EA just recently played host to its big, blowout pre-E3 event. Nineteen games were in attendance and Madden was easily among the best shown.

First off, this year's game isn't skipping out on the features that we've come accustomed to on the original Xbox offerings. Fantasy draft is back for all the fantasy gurus out there, owner mode is in, though EA was mum about the details when we spoke to David Ortiz, the lead producer on the game. Even though we couldn't squeeze out the specifics, it's just good to know that our old favorites are back.

At this latest event EA was stressing nothing but gameplay. Editors were commanded to just sit and play, and I was eager to obey. I got a solid hour-or-so in, just enough time to play two full-length games with my hometown Jacksonville Jaguars. Aside from the requisite new camera angles and presentation elements, the game just feels much more like pro football than it ever has on next-gen consoles. Players now respond to your every touch so there's no more getting caught in catch animations on out-routes and jogging haplessly out of bounds. Running now feels much more natural as well thanks to some new foot planting technology. The days of sliding around the field are all but over.

There are also a bunch of nuances that are original to this year's game. Like different run animations for when your running back is trying to make his way through the offensive and defensive line. There's no more running in place like the Wiley Coyote when you hit the back of your O-lineman. The highlight stick has also been redefined to utilize player specific abilities. A smaller back won't be able to truck over a safety, so flicking up on the right analog will now allow him to break off a nasty little juke move, while bigger backs will still lower the boom.

Receivers have also been retooled to allow for several different situations that were previously impossible. Now balls over the middle are genuine health. In past years jumping catches over the middle granted your wideouts invincibility, but this year they can get popped like never before. Now you'll get up-ended if the hit lands just right, knocking the ball out of your hands in the process. Also, like we said before, there's no more getting caught in a catch animation, so as soon as the ball hits your hands the receiver is in your control, and the added responsiveness of the controls really helps in this regard. One instance of the increased sense of control came as I was playing against Dave Ortiz. He was using the Panthers, and I was the Jags. Steve Smith snagged a ball over the middle, and unlike last year where he would have gotten tackled because of being stuck in the same old catch animation, he was now able to immediately use his speed to cut away from a linebacker and then posterize my DB by using the highlight stick to maneuver his 5'9" frame to duck under a would-be tackler. It was an impressive display; it's just too bad it was against me.◄ Previous 1 2

Defense has also been retooled a bit so that your impact players (known as weapons this year, we'll detail that in a bit) actually have the proper impact on the game. Defensive linemen now play more of a role than simply being a body on the field. You can execute a nice repertoire of moves to try and get past the opposition, or disengage and roam free. Marcus Stroud, a perennial pro bowler at defensive tackle for the Jags, racked up two sacks during the game against the Panthers thanks to some crafty manipulation of the newly bestowed moves. In previous years defensive ends had a tough time having any kind of an impact, much less defensive tackles. The gang tackles were also in full effect, though it doesn't seem that more than two or three players can get in on a tackle at one time, but it's still cool to see the ball carrier realistically react to multiple impacts.

The weapon system is totally new to this year's Madden, and feels a bit like the Superstar abilities in past NBA Live titles. Certain players can be one or several types of weapons. There are things like brick wall defenders, smart quarterbacks and linebackers, big hitters, and blanket corners with 24 categories in all. Though players can be more than one type of weapon, only one icon is displayed at a time. The aforementioned smart defensive or offensive players have a special ability of their own that allows them to figure out the tendencies of the other team. Once their icon fills up you can tap the left bumper and the play art (routes, blocking schemes, etc…) of the opposing team will appear, but you can only do it once so you'd be wise to save it for a crucial third-down conversion attempt.

There have also been plenty of changes made to the presentation side of things. Like the addition of Marshall Faulk who now delivers pre-game audio commentary as the players take the field. He gives a breakdown of strong points for each squad as the game highlights the main weapons for a given team, and also hands out a quick score prediction. Thought it is a small addition, it still adds to the legitimacy of Madden 08.

There are also two new achievements for players to work towards, and we don't mean things to up your gamerscore. This year you'll be able to earn trophies for certain on-field accolades, and then turn around and bet them before on and offline games. On top of that you'll also build up your own championship ring. When Marshall hands out his score prediction you'll notice a clear ring floating next to your user name. As you continue to progress and up your EA Gamer Level your ring will get more and more blinged out. Things like diamonds, rubies, and a platinum finish will all be unlocked if you're good enough.

It was very clear what EA's true emphasis is for this year's Madden, and that is gameplay, gameplay, gameplay. The title harkens back to past Madden titles in that its gameplay is extremely fast, fluid, and responsive. User jukes are back in the sense that you don't really need the highlight stick to make someone look stupid, just contort your player and create your very own juke move. While there are plenty of new bells and whistles that will please a lot of players, the real star of the show is finally the gameplay.

As an editor we're never supposed to pass judgment on an unfinished game, but when it comes to Madden 08, we're hard pressed not to chalk it up as a huge win for EA Sports.

I'm glad they're bringing that back because the pre-game intros were getting boring and repetitive.

The venerable football series keeps chugging toward the end zone, and we've got an updated look at the game from EA Los Angeles.

This year's Electronic Entertainment Expo falls in July, and as a result, game developers have a bit more time to tune their games in preparation for the show. There are few better examples of what that extra spit and polish can mean for a game than the most recent build of Madden NFL 08 we played at EA Los Angeles during the publisher's summer pre-E3 event. The game, due for release later this summer, felt even better than the last time we played it back in May.

The player animation promises to be better this season than ever before .
Overall, the game felt more stable than the earlier build we played. Many of the graphical hitches that are fairly typical of work-in-progress software were few and far between in the build we played last week. The result was a steadier pace of play, and one that made the already sterling player animations that much more effective in the game. If it's been a while since you've played a Madden game, Madden NFL 08 might surprise you because player animations have improved--and not just in variety. Sure, this year's game is going to have more tackle, juke, and catch animations than previous games in the series, but thanks to a new branching system that determines how one animation transition into another, the variety of animations from one play to the next should be more true to life than ever before.

The weapons feature in Madden NFL 08 is new to the series and represents an attempt by the developers to separate the best players in the game from those who are merely good. Let's be honest, while any player lining up a running back in the NFL is a great athlete, there's a wide gulf between a player like Shaun Alexander of the Seahawks and Tyson Thompson of the Cowboys. That, of course, is why Shaun Alexander is one of the biggest weapons the Seahawks have and why Thompson will be fighting for a position on the team this year. There will be 24 weapons in the game, and all will have specific strengths. Players denoted as weapons will also have icons underneath them so that you'll be able to tell who the stars are, even if you aren't familiar with a particular team's roster.

In one exhibition game we played between the Seattle Seahawks and the Chicago Bears, we learned firsthand what a powerful weapon Shaun Alexander can be on the field; the former Alabama star bowled over our defensive line several times on his way to the end zone. As one producer told us, you have to go low on Alexander, which means you should tackle him low by pushing down on the right stick. This will cause a defender to attempt to take out a power runner's legs. For smaller backs or receivers, pushing the stick high will cause your defender to hit the ball carrier high, possibly resulting in a forced fumble. However, raw power isn't Alexander's only asset--the improved inside running game had Shaun dipping and diving between linemen as he looked to take advantage of even small holes to gain some extra yards.

We're excited for this one already, and there's still lots we haven't seen.
Just as weapons in Madden 08 have their specific strengths, the game also provides counters you can use to offset those talents. For such power runners as Alexander, you can take out their legs, but receivers also have their weaknesses. For example, a big play receiver might be vulnerable to a big hit; you can even choose to "spotlight" a receiver who's tearing you up during a game. To do so, you pull the right trigger before the snap, press the face button corresponding to the receiver you wish to focus on, and your team will automatically put extra coverage on him.

Rewards for good play in Madden NFL 08 will always be under construction. This is because as you reach new milestones, such as passing/rushing a certain number of yards or gaining a certain number of sacks in a single game, you'll be constructing trophies. These trophies will eventually live in your trophy case in the game's front end, which will also be decorated with your favorite NFL team's colors and logo, as well as video clips from the team. You'll also be building championship rings, one level of bling at a time, as you progress. Each ring will consist of five separate components, which you will earn over time.

Another bit of presentation fun we saw in our time with the game was the inclusion of Marshall Faulk providing pregame and postgame commentary on games. Faulk is the former St. Louis Rams running back, current NFL Network commentator, and surefire Hall of Famer who will have a big presence in the presentation. He'll even go so far as to make pregame predictions on the winner in some cases.

With the tangible improvements made to the animation and gameplay, there's a lot to be excited about with Madden NFL 08. This is considering we still haven't had time with the updated NFL Superstar mode or the new franchise mode. Rest assured, we'll be bringing you much more on these modes with our continuing Madden NFL 08 coverage in the coming months, so stay tuned.

I don't have a 360 yet, but when I get my first paycheck in 2 weeks I'll probably end up getting it. So I'm in, but I'll probably blow at it just b/c I've never used an XBox before lol
