Check this, it's a clip of LJ mocking herm @ a press conference, its dead on...
LJ mockery of Herm
That was hilarious! Unfortunately Herm was into the whole thing because he was at the end of the video. it would of been great if LJ started a little controversy.

being unbiased. herm is a very likable guy. he's a players coach, an ex NFL player, he's great with the fans, is always available for the media and makes a good sound bite or 2. he's just a shitty head coach

I'd agree with everything except the shitty head coach bit. He's took 4 out of his 6 teams into the postseason so can't be that bad but - and I mean but - Mangini is streets ahead of him IMO as a HC and I'm very pleased to be honest that what happened last season happened. Mangini is a great tactical mind and also is equal to Herm in terms of his ability to motivate his team as shown by some of his techniques - eg the boxing videos.

yeah thats true.. the fact still remains though. he took the jets to the playoffs more then any other jets coach.
Damn it huevos rancheros move out the way!

Man, that really makes you think. Herm was possibly the worst in game coach I've ever seen. He didn't know how to manage the clock or run a training camp, which is why the Jets usually got off to really slow starts. He had an awful OC for 5 of his 6 years and still managed to make the playoffs 4 times. I guess the team was that good, because he sure as hell wasn't.

hackett was a very good coordiantor. he hid chads weaknesses and ran an efficiant offense and used the talent well. we all hated a 3rd and 15 draw play but its better then chad trying to zip one 20 yards and getting picked off. hacket was better then we give him credit for. not only that he had very good def coordinators in donnie henderson and before him ted cottrell. herm blamed the other coaches to save his job.

I'm gonna have to go ahead and disagree with you on that one. Yea...
Posted 31 May 2007 - 12:43 AM
i know u will. most people were blinded by herm throwing him under the bus. hackett did the best with what he had

It's not surprising Chad had his best seasons with Hackett as OC because Hackett designed the offense around the strengths of Chad. Sure it was frustrating at times as you said with the 3rd and 15 draws but giving the defense better field position would be better than turning the ball over after Chad tried to force a pass he couldn't make.
Schottenheimer is IMO a much more adventurous version of Hackett as he designs the offense around the teams strengths rather than having his own system that he just brought across from SD. The hiring of Heimerdinger could be viewed as a ploy by Herm to show he wasn't a conservative coach because 'dinger came in promising to include more deep passes after Hackett was canned.
