f*** 2009 we need 08 we can't loose a great like Vilma and wait another year til this team completely falls apart and we're all fucked. What good does a draft pick more than a year from now do for us??? f*** this if its Vilma for say an 09 2nd rounder I...I...I *sigh* why do I have to be a fan of the Jets.

it makes sense. it's a draft pick that goes by milestones he reaches this year. the FO knew that they wouldn't get full value for Vilma with a shaky knee. if he does really well and the knee is fully healed the Jets will most certainly get a nice pick for him.

It still seems so odd to me the Jets can only get a third rounder for Vilima. I mean shit...I would think a 2nd rounder is borderline low.
Me too! Figured shutting him down so early, and the minimum of 3 teams highly interested would raise his stock!

Jets | Team close to sending Vilma to New Orleans?
Thu, 28 Feb 2008 20:07:58 -0800 Tom Rock, of Newsday, reports the New York Jets are close to sending LB Jonathan Vilma to the New Orleans Saints, according to two sources. The Jets will receive a conditional draft pick, likely in the 2009 NFL Draft, based on Vilma's production, according to a league source.
This is our best bet right here. We get a condition pick based on Vilma's performance. We all know he'll be a beast in their system and we might be close to getting a 1st for him in 09.

Well, what can you do? =\
This conditional pick is interesting...What do you think we get from them if Vilma goes to the pro bowl next year?

you know i was justth inking, this is the kindof move that either comesba ck to bite us int he arse, or we look back on and say, golly that was brilliant. like dubb said, we could get close to an 1st rounder in 09, what if thatpi ck turns out to be a good one. OR J-Villie never recovers from his injursy. Hey, you never know. I hope not. I want vilma to do fantastic wherever he goes. Im goingt o miss him alot
