MikeGangGree... Icon : (26 August 2014 - 03:00 PM) I wouldnt cut Hill watch him go to NE and turn into Randy Moss
HarlemHxC814 Icon : (26 August 2014 - 03:13 PM) I'm just glad there aren't anymore greedy bastards on the team to deal with
HarlemHxC814 Icon : (26 August 2014 - 03:13 PM) Or street thugs
HarlemHxC814 Icon : (26 August 2014 - 03:13 PM) f*** a CB problem
Jetsman05 Icon : (26 August 2014 - 03:49 PM) need 1 more in the fantasy league
RetireChrebet Icon : (26 August 2014 - 08:33 PM) Dimitri suspended for the rest of preseason. I'm sorry, I know we are bone dry at corner these days but they should have cut this prick on the spot . He's going to get torched regardless this year and I'd rather cut ties with any potential cancerous attitutudes before the season even starts.
RetireChrebet Icon : (26 August 2014 - 08:34 PM) Where I come from you take responsibility for your actions. Not showing up for a game is cowardly and selfish. f*** him
RetireChrebet Icon : (26 August 2014 - 08:36 PM) Also he doesn't know what the acronym AWOL means so he's also an idiot. No wonder he's never been anything but a journeyman corner is this league.
azjetfan Icon : (26 August 2014 - 09:11 PM) So how do you really feel?
RetireChrebet Icon : (26 August 2014 - 11:18 PM) I think my last three posts pretty much summarize how I feel haha. He's making 1.5 mill this year and no call no shows because his feeling are hurt. Would rather you play corner azjetfan than this guy
MikeGangGree... Icon : (27 August 2014 - 08:12 AM) Need 1 more for FFB!!
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (27 August 2014 - 08:39 AM) Stephen Hill is going to get cut, guy sucks. Greg Salas is a better football player and deserves a spot over him
HarlemHxC814 Icon : (27 August 2014 - 11:27 AM) So when do we show up to 115s house with pitchforks, tar and feathers?
Jetsfan115 Icon : (27 August 2014 - 12:03 PM) i'd rather see idzik go then hill. fire idzik
bleedsgreen Icon : (27 August 2014 - 12:21 PM) Hill is such a disappointment. I really was hopping for so much when he scored 2 TDs his first game
MikeGangGree... Icon : (27 August 2014 - 03:11 PM) We need to get the J-E-T-S chant back this year to the way it was
MikeGangGree... Icon : (27 August 2014 - 03:13 PM) idk if any of u guys went to any of the games last year[Im sure some of u did] but im not a fan of the drumline leading the chant
MikeGangGree... Icon : (27 August 2014 - 03:14 PM) its not the same as 70,000 people doing it during every kickoff and after every score
Jetsfan115 Icon : (27 August 2014 - 05:43 PM) injuries and poor QB play aren't good for a WR to develop
Jetsman05 Icon : (27 August 2014 - 06:08 PM) 115 and Hill. Lol!
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (27 August 2014 - 10:18 PM) the excuses, Hill is just a terrible football player. no debate, just a fact. guy is soft as shit as well
Jetsfan115 Icon : (Yesterday, 10:43 AM) right cause all our other WRs were lighting it up
HarlemHxC814 Icon : (Yesterday, 07:04 PM) Hill is useless bro lol
ROBJETS Icon : (Yesterday, 09:05 PM) All I can say I streamed this game and if anyone thinks about recording it from NFL Network at 4pm Eastern Saturday.....DONT!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ROBJETS Icon : (Yesterday, 09:07 PM) This game was pure sh1t. Even though it was back up players the Jets got totally destroyed in this game. After seeing this game Im really worried about the Jets starting core because these backup guys looked like they shouldn't have even been on the field at all. I just hope the starters are 3000 times better than these guys that played in game 4
ROBJETS Icon : (Yesterday, 09:09 PM) The Jets got horse f*cked by the Eagles in this game.
ganggreen2003 Icon : (Yesterday, 09:24 PM) we are hosed in the secondary
ganggreen2003 Icon : (Yesterday, 09:26 PM) we need to cut this assclown patterson
ganggreen2003 Icon : (Yesterday, 09:34 PM) did Hill get cut yet?
ROBJETS Icon : (Yesterday, 09:36 PM) lol. We might need to look at the Eagles cuts for possible 2nd and 3rd stringers
ROBJETS Icon : (Yesterday, 09:36 PM) If they keep ZHill after this game I will be shocked.
ROBJETS Icon : (Yesterday, 09:38 PM) Philly gave us a worse ass whipping than Detroit gave Buffalo. only difference is we scored
ROBJETS Icon : (Yesterday, 09:42 PM) Im just wondering what manning will put up on our secondary? 70?
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (Yesterday, 10:12 PM) who cares about getting destroyed in a preseason game, especially the 4th one. Most of these guys won't even make the team
ganggreen2003 Icon : (Yesterday, 10:15 PM) Hill cut yet?
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (Yesterday, 10:18 PM) FIRE IDZIK
HarlemHxC814 Icon : (Yesterday, 10:21 PM) Yeah this game means nothing...except to Stephen Hill (who fumbled lol) and 115
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (Yesterday, 10:23 PM) Hill is a bum, hes pretty much never shown much football skill. The Jets fucked up big time taking him over Alshon Jeffery.
HarlemHxC814 Icon : (Yesterday, 10:29 PM) I'm still pissed off about that
ROBJETS Icon : (Yesterday, 10:43 PM) Its not that Im worried about the preseason game itself. i could care less about that. Its the fact of how bad we got destroyed. And some of the guys will be on the team and others on the fringe so getting destroyed like that doesnt fill me with confidence
ROBJETS Icon : (Yesterday, 10:44 PM) It would be one thing if it was just the second half or 4th quarter but this was the whole game. especially getting destroyed in the 1st quarter and at least part of the 2nd where a lot of the guys will be on the team
ROBJETS Icon : (Yesterday, 10:48 PM) 2nd and 3rd stringers making the team had something to prove and even our 2nd stringers got owned so yes Im very concerned. The first stringers need breaks and also if some of them get injured they need to step up. So no after this performance start to finish Im very concerned
HarlemHxC814 Icon : (Today, 06:39 AM) Meh...you're reading too much into it
HarlemHxC814 Icon : (Today, 06:40 AM) Even in seasons where the Jets blew, I haven't seen anyone refer to the preseason to complain. Ever.

QUOTE
Barton lines New York Jets with biz, banter

by Dave Hutchinson/The Star-Ledger
Thursday November 27, 2008, 8:49 PM

Eric Barton of the Jets keeps it light off the field, but is all business when he nears a quarterback, as the St. Louis Rams' Marc Bulger found out earlier this season.

If there's a practical joke being played in the Jets' locker room, chances are linebacker Eric Barton's fingerprints are on it. The former Oakland Raiders bad boy, now in his fifth season with the Jets, loves life and his teammates.

The other day, sporting a mohawk haircut -- he plans to get it cut -- Barton led the razzing of veteran fullback Tony Richardson, who had a 14-yard run against the Titans, his longest since 2002.

During his interview, Barton exchanged one-liners with left guard Alan Faneca, whose locker stall is adjacent to his. Later, he posed for the cameras during practice.

Nose tackle Kris Jenkins, who was roommates with Barton at the University of Maryland, says that was just Barton's warm-up act. He declined to go into specifics about some of Barton's vintage performances because it would "incriminate" him.

"He's crazy," said safety Kerry Rhodes. "He's one of those guys who is going to lighten up the day. If it's a tough day, you can go to him for a laugh. You have to have guys like that on your team."

Barton, however, is also about his business and his business is football. A student of the game, he constantly amazes his coaches with his smarts and challenges even the scout-team guard to give him a better look at an opponent in practice.

The 10-year veteran is the brains behind the Jets' third-ranked run defense, which is allowing just 78 yards rushing per game. He calls all the defensive signals and has a team-leading 82 tackles, including a career-high 17 against the Patriots two weeks ago. He also has 1.5 sacks, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery.

"Things are clicking for us and that's all that's really important right now," said the 6-2, 245-pound Barton, a former outside linebacker who made a seamless transition inside when the Jets switched to a 3-4 defense three seasons ago. "I'm doing what they're asking me to do.

"I really don't look at it (as him flying under the radar). I just want to win and whatever I can do is what I'm going to do. No one really cares here about who's getting the accolades or the press. As long as we're getting the goal accomplished."

Last week, the Jets limited the Titans to just 45 yards rushing -- the fifth time they've held a team under 50 yards rushing this season -- and Barton was again in the middle of the fray with eight tackles.

"He's done a great job," coach Eric Mangini said. "What I like about Eric is things come very quickly to him."

Surprisingly, Barton and the defense hasn't appeared to miss hard-hitting inside linebacker David Harris, who was their leading tackler before undergoing groin surgery and missing the past four games. Harris' absence has resulted in Barton playing more on third down, not to mention getting used to a new partner inside in veteran David Bowens.

"When you look at Eric physically, you wouldn't think he plays in the NFL. He's small," Bowens said. "But he's one of the toughest guys I've been around. He'll hit you. He likes to blitz. He's good in coverage. He's the total package."

Barton, 31, says he has never been around teammates that he genuinely likes as much as he does this group. And he feels that with the addition of Jenkins, linebacker Calvin Pace and the stellar play of second-year cornerback Darrelle Revis, the Jets have the talent to go deep into the playoffs. He started on the Raiders' team that lost to Tampa Bay in Super Bowl XXXVII and it still haunts him.

This, though, is the final year of Barton's contract and it could be his last chance to make it back to the Super Bowl as a Jet.

"Of course, I would like to stay here," said Barton, who signed with the Jets as an unrestricted free agent after five seasons in Oakland. "I love the guys here. But it's a business, so who knows what's going to happen. We'll see. Right now, I'll just worry about Denver."

I like that statement.
I honestly never expected for Barton to still be on the team with all the changes. He isnt a super star but he is a solid player that works hard.I just looked at his stats and not counting sacks he is on pace to have his best year as a a Jet.

I would like to see Barton get a extension. Hes a good player to have around, he knows the system, hes a great locker room guy. Hes a savvy vet, he should be given a extension. They should draft a ILB to groom into the eventual replacement, but we need Barton back till then.

If we can find a stud then we should cut our losses with EB. I like EB a lot but IF and I mean IF we can find a stud ILB in this years draft then we should cut our ties.

I agree...Barton is a solid player. Keeping him would be the smart thing to do. One thing that also should be taken into consideration is that he has been here since Day 1 of the Mangini regime, so he understands Mangini's system very well...and it is showing on the field..

actually the dozen or so others have either paid me or followed through on their end of the deal... just him and one other burned me...

why should I forget it??? if you spent a good 10-12 man hours as well as some cash creating something that someone asked you to do and agreed on payment, wouldnt you be ticked??? its BECAUSE he is an NFL player that I should have gotten paid..
I will never cheer for him ever... the guy is a prick on and off the field.. no reason for some of the dirty hits he throws on QBs ..

I don't claim to have any direct deals w any pro athletes but I used to work in an electronics store that was frequented my a few current and past NFL players. These guys don't know the meaning of paying for something. It seems to me like an entitlement issue. I am only speaking of 4-5 guys but these guys all made millions of dollars. That is sad about Barton. As far as keeping him beyond this year, it would heavily depend on his asking price. A team can't shell out 20-60 million dollar deals to every starter. The math won't work out. With Jones, Faneca, Brick, Woody, Coles, Cotchery, Pace, Jenkins, Gholston, and Rhodes all have big deals and guys like Mangold, Revis, Leon in line for big paydays, role players are a must. Look at the Pats. They have maintained a very high level of play with 7-8 stars and 40 team players.
