Jets 0-2 vs bills this year. Does Rex Ryan survive the year?
ganggreen2003 Icon : (25 November 2014 - 10:50 PM) The JETS really sucked a fat one last night
ganggreen2003 Icon : (25 November 2014 - 11:34 PM) Man the JETS are a 3 ring circus or American Horror Story: FREAK SHOW!!!!
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (Yesterday, 08:45 AM) Jets starting Geno again.
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (Yesterday, 08:45 AM) FIRE IDZIK,
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (Yesterday, 08:45 AM) I really hope the JEts completely clean house this offseason and get rid of everyone, it's time.
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (Yesterday, 08:54 AM) We need to keep getting embarrassed every week to ensure that. That is why I don't give a shit about getting destroyed, it makes the team look like more of a joke and forces Woody to make real changes
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (Yesterday, 08:55 AM) Like how do you get blown out by a team that didn't practice while you had 2 weeks to prepare?
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (Yesterday, 08:55 AM) That kind of stuff may force Woody to make the big changes and fire everyone
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (Yesterday, 08:55 AM) John Idzik has handled the QB situation terribly. 2 times he pretty much handed the job to his draft pick
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (Yesterday, 08:56 AM) Besides Sheldon Richardson, his drafts have been awful.
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (Yesterday, 08:57 AM) Maybe Woody will clean house and go all out for Jim Harbaugh, that probably won't happen though but it would be a franchise changer.
HarlemHxC814 Icon : (Yesterday, 10:07 AM) Harbaugh would be amazing...but because it makes sense it won't be done
HarlemHxC814 Icon : (Yesterday, 10:51 AM) According to Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News, the Jets blocked coach Rex Ryan from talking to Mehta about a bye-week visit to his ailing father, legendary NFL defensive guru Buddy Ryan. Buddy, who rose to prominence as defensive coordinator of the ’85 Bears and then coached the Eagles and Cardinals, is battling cancer.
HarlemHxC814 Icon : (Yesterday, 10:52 AM) Mehta interprets the muzzling of Rex Ryan as proof positive that, once the season ends, Ryan will no longer be the team’s head coach. Apparently, the team fears that Rex would become more sympathetic in the eyes of the fan base if he’s dumped by the team at a time when his father is fighting a serious illness.
santana Icon : (Yesterday, 11:05 AM) Mehta is an idiot
santana Icon : (Yesterday, 11:25 AM) If colt McCoy lights it up do the jets make a move?
HarlemHxC814 Icon : (Yesterday, 11:27 AM) I don't even care what they do for a while
HarlemHxC814 Icon : (Yesterday, 11:28 AM) The team is a catastrophe
santana Icon : (Yesterday, 11:29 AM) I didn't see the game
santana Icon : (Yesterday, 11:29 AM) I remember the first bills game though I'm guessing it was like that with more sleeping in the end zone
HarlemHxC814 Icon : (Yesterday, 11:32 AM) I'm with 0099...I hope they keep getting destroyed
Chaos Icon : (Yesterday, 11:33 AM) it's a very Jets-esque move to sign McCoy if he does well
HarlemHxC814 Icon : (Yesterday, 11:53 AM) I think they sign RGIII, Cutler, or Bradford
santana Icon : (Yesterday, 12:10 PM) why not all three
HarlemHxC814 Icon : (Yesterday, 12:11 PM) Knowing this team, I wouldn't put that past them
HarlemHxC814 Icon : (Yesterday, 02:07 PM) RAUL FOR QB

Because Ratty only started his senior season in college for Utah in a spread offense...

Junior college transfer who took over starting duties as a senior, Pos:ting 58.3%/2,796/23/9.

Pos:

Nice-sized pocket passer with marginal skill for the next level
. Patient, buys time for receivers and finds the open pass-catcher on the field. Sells the ball fakes, throws with an over-the-top delivery and puts zip on the short throws, getting the ball through the tight spots.

Neg:

Takes most of his snaps out of the shotgun and is slow dropping into the pocket when lined up behind center. Does not have a quick release. Long passes hang in the air. Indecisive when pressured and makes questionable decisions.

He was still projected to be drafted in th 5th to 7th round....maybe after Alex Smith, teams shyed away...

Cutler played better teams and was on a terrible team to begin with. Also Ratliff played in a spread offense that puts up QB's numbers.

Thats your excuse?.. still doesn't make merit towards how come Ratty never even got drafted.

Make whatever kind of excuses you want the numbers are there.

A lot similar to a scouting report from a guy up in New England when he was getting drafted I bet.

I don't know about the next guy but I gut checked mysekf I think we should roll the dice with Ratliff and Clemens. Too much at stake with Cutler and it's not like he'll have a Brandon Marshall to throw to.

Call me crazy but I think it's too much. The pretty girl is always the best choice.

Its not a excuse its facts. He has solid numbers playing a weak schedule in a pass friendly offense. He obviously didn't impress anyone at his workouts enough for anyone to take notice. Remember the Jets almost cut him as he was horrible at first. But they saw improvements one day and decided to hold onto him.

But still you can't look at the numbers of these kind of players. They aren't worth comparing as they were in two different situations. (Ratliff and Culter)

Perhaps but the bottom line to my argument is Cutler will be to much. We having pressing needs at DE soon. T.J might hold out and how about a true number 1.

Clemens very well could have been (should have been ) a 1st rd pick.
Ratliff is a guy trying to make a name. Their both on our roster and deserve a shot. I really think it's too much to give up and lets face it. IF Cutler isn't here by mandatory workouts it won't matter who we have under center. Cutler will need time to learn the system with him or without him were looking at 8-8

Ratliff's stats are what they are. It's obvious why he didn't get drafted. He didn't perform bad by any means, but he he only started for one year and he didn't get standout numbers.

Jay Cutler-QB-Broncos Mar. 18 - 11:12 am et

According to SI's Peter King, the Broncos are "hanging on to Jay Cutler and won't entertain discussion for him at this time."

The Broncos' current stance is to try to meet with Cutler sans agent Bus Cook, hoping the situation can be remedied. King believes the relationship is now beyond repair and that Cutler will be traded, with Denver's stance changing before the NFL Draft. King suggests the Bucs and the Jets as the "most fervent suitors."

Sal Paolantonio commenting on the difference in the Ryan and Mangini atmospheres in the building:
"It's like going from Alcatraz to Dorney Park."

It is better to destroy than create what is meaningless, so the picture will not be finished.

I doubt they hold onto him, they will end up trading him. How can you hold onto a QB who won't ever trust his HC again? Thats just asking to have a losing season, their owner even said that he sticks by the coaching staff and is disappointed that he may lose his star QB. Cutler will be traded IMO.

And Cutler isn't a bad attitude or w/e, he has every right to be upset. His HC is screwing him around! Cutler has made an attempt to fix this, but McDaniels has been leading him that he is going to trade him.

As far as Kerry Rhodes hating Cutler, I could give a crap. As long as our offense is on page with him Rhodes can hate him all he wants, a QB and safety don't have to be close at all.

I was content with staying with what we had because I didn't like any of the FA QBs out there, and I doubt we can land Matt Stafford or Mark Sanchez.

I have little confidence in Brett Ratliff, I don't know him well enough. He did good against 3rd/practice squad type players. But what will he do in a REAL game? I have more confidence in Kellen Clemens right now because I have seen him play, and I don't think hes terrible. He was in a lose situation. He is the guy I think will end up being the starter.

But when you have a shot at a 25 year old franchise QB, you have to check it out. QB are way too important in this league, it is the MOST important position. I have seen 2 teams win SB without a quality QB, the Ravens and Bucs. But that was because their defenses played so good that they didn't need to score TDs. THe Bucs had like 3 INTs for TDs in the SB I think? The chances of this team winning a SB without a QB is small.

Jay Cutler is a extremely good QB, he is good in the pocket and is extremely accurate and has a great arm. Only has been in the league 3 years and never had under a 86 QB rating, thats pretty darn impressive in my book.

I wanted Jay Cutler in the 06 draft, and I will gladly take him still. Even if we give up 3 draft picks I would do it. Because once you have a QB that can play in this league, everything falls in place. We have a really good defense building up, but if we had a real QB we can be a force in this league! Cutler's INts would drop because he won't have to throw the ball 45-50 times a game like he did with the Broncos.

Cutler also has a 95 QB rating when behind and in the 4th quarter.

Our situation is good here, we have a HC that can communicate with his players. Players will trust him, they will want to play for him. Not like the coaches under the Belichick tree that seem to have a hard time communicating with players.

Link: Frontrunners for Cutler?
Posted on March 18th, 2009 by Bassett Although Peter King wrote yesterday that the Broncos are holding onto Jay Cutler tightly right now, he thinks that two teams — the Jets and the Bucs — are the most likely suitors.

The Jets proved last year they’ll stop at nothing to get what they want. What they wanted last year was Brett Favre, who turned out to be a one-year fix that cost New York its third-round pick in the 2009 draft. What they’ll want this year would be, they hope, a 10-year fix, and would cost far, far more. Owner Woody Johnson and GM Mike Tannenbaum will not be intimidated by the price for Cutler. I think New York, at the end of the day, will be tempted to pay more for Cutler than anyone else.

Would Denver be swayed by a package of first- and second-round picks, plus either of the young New York quarterbacks — Brett Ratliff or Kellen Clemens? I believe it may come to that.

With Mike Tannenbaum at GM, you can never be too sure what this team is going to do. But you do know he'll stop at nothing to make this team better.

Just give Clemens and Ratliff a chance to battle it out, I really like all ive seend from Clemens and he won games with an aweful team with no o line. Draft him a wr and let the offense run and the defense play d, when you need him to win the game in the 4th quarter hell be able to lead the team on a drive.

For all you experts, heres word on ratliff from someone who actually watched the games of him in college.

QUOTE
2. Did he run the Urban Meyer spread option his entire college career with the Utes, or did he ever operate out of more conventional pro formations?

Utah had run the spread option for the entire 2005 season, since Johnson was a spread-option quarterback. But Ratliff wasn't and had pretty much established himself as a pro-style quarterback. The final two games of the 2005 season saw little adjustments, but in 2006, with Ratliff not as conditioned on the spread, Utah adjusted its offense and built it around his strengths. There were bits of the spread option being used by the Utes, but not at the extent you saw during the 2003, 2004 and 2005 seasons (or the last two seasons with Johnson again leading Utah). With the lack of a spread-option quarterback, Ludwig opted to run a hybrid offense and often would line Ratliff up under center or in the 2006 season, use Eric Weddle for the option aspect of the offense.

Its a 5 question interview, thats question #2.

So he wasnt a spread offense QB, which means those numbers are nice!

S-dubb: No faith in Cotchery or in getting somebody for him to throw to through the draft?

Brandon Marshall is a thug, UCF represent; but Jerricho is good too.

Only reason I thought he was in a spread offense is because I knew Utah ran it, and the videos I've seen of Ratliff in college had him in the gun most of the time.

Also I read that he didn't pick up the offense that fast. Maybe a reason he wasn't drafted, he did take a while to show some signs here first year he was almost cut by the Jets.

I'm not sure about Ratliff, I need to see him more before I think hes a Tony Romo story.

id quickly give up Clemen's to get Cutler...Clemens is another Chad,he panics under pressure, only unlike Chad instead of throwin short passes,he thinks he can just bomb it down the field and pray for someone to catch it,f*** that...Keep Brett get rid of Clemens and bring Cutler here!!!

My question to you sir is, do you watch Jet football?
