Jetsfan115 Icon : (Today, 04:41 PM) cruz doens't want to leave NY cause teh extra money he'll get in endorsements plus he knows taht they can RFA him this year and then Franchise next year so he might not be able to get a LTD for 3 years

I heard it on Total Access, they said if Shotty goes to Buffalo that Martz wants the OC job and could be a strong possibility to get it.

No thanks, doesn't Mike Martz like to go downfield and not run the ball? How does that fit us?

Exactly. That's why he was let go from San Fran. Singletary wanted a ball control, run oriented offense, not Mike Martz.

Faulk's rushing numbers in '99, 2000, and 2001. 1,381, 1,359, 1,382. He did average 5.5, then 5.4, and then 5.3. However, the Rams were not run-oriented. Faulk had 253 carries in '99 and 2000, and 260 carries in 01. Since T.J. has been in NY, he has had 310 carries, then 290, and now 331. Faulk never lead the league in rushing yards.

Fact is, we are a run, run, run, and then run again team. Not Mike Martz. Outside of possibly Leon, none of our running backs pose the same type of receiving threat Marshall Faulk was with Martz in St. Louis. It just wouldn't work. Martz has had complicated routes, and it would be silly to give Sanchez a whole new offense to learn.

If Schotty leaves, promote from within and keep the same offense! Essentially just switch the playcaller.

*Edit* The Bills are also trying to interview Russ Grimm. To jog your memory, he is an assistant for Arizona, who was interviewed before Ken Whisenhunt was hired. IMO, Grimm takes the Buffalo job.

Faulk was just a machine that Martz used to run out the clock. He would have only a very few carries going into the fourth quarter, but if they were up he would come in and get his stats. When vermeil was there he made Faulk the focus, but once Martz took over it was all passing.

I hope for all heck we don't get Martz. Unless he for some reason commits to basing the game against the run. We don't have anythign close to his receivers. Besides, as much as I make fun of the Colts being arena league to my buddy who is a Colts fan, he'd kill me over Martz.

I sure as hell don't want Mike Martz. He plays favorites with the QBs on the roster, he's a bully, and he'll screw up Sanchez's mechanics if Mark is not "his style" of a QB.

This is the same O.C that forgot about Frank Gore in S.F. The same guy who neglects TE in the passing game. Martz wants a free ride with a great defense. Lets be honest guys, any O.C can survive here with our defense. Who'd have to be pretty bad.

No doubt there would be a clash of personalities between him and Rex at some point too as both guys are pretty confident in themselves - justifiably so in Ryan's case. Everywhere he has gone he has installed a pass-happy offense, which is a complete reserve-face of the ethos of this team and arguably would stunt Sanchez' growth.

The RBs on the roster and Dustin Keller - even though he was very quiet at times this year - are the keys to this offense. Cotchery and Edwards are good receivers, but behind them there isn't anybody who has proven themselves reliable enough to be targetted in the passing game that Martz would want. Brad Smith has proven productive, but more so when running the ball out of the wildcat and on the odd reverse. Bruce and Holt were the two main guys in St. Louis with him, but the likes of Az Zahir Hakim, Ricky Proehl, Kevin Curtis and Dane Looker all caught plenty of balls in that offense too, not to mention the contribution Faulk made. The personnel we have is geared towards a run-orientated offense so Martz would be a bad choice.

We're a great running team because we have one of the worst receivers group in the league. Without upgrading in that area, a OC like Martz would be a waste. My bet is Callahan gets promoted to OC.

We are a great running team because our O-Line. Hell, we could be even better if Thomas Jones could hit the hole, not the backside of our offensive line!

Not trying to attack you...

My vote would be for Callahan. He could still mold the O-line as OC and his offense is exactly what the team wants to do. But I will say that I worry about Sanchez under Callahan. What good QBs has he worked with and made? I can't name one.
