I gotta agree with Dubb on this, Dave. As much as we all want to see a Super Bowl, we can't look at every season as Super Bowl or bust. This NFL climate is conducive to such self-inflicted pain.
The death of the SOJ mentality is fueled by the media. We all know it's still a work in progress. But the best way to kill it is by letting it go. You have to have confidence in this regime, and in the dedication to getting the job done when it counts.

I will not be forgotten. This is my time to shine. I've got the scars to prove it. Only the strong survive.

we hed a rookie qb take us to the afc title game!!!!!!! next year looks real good
Nothing against you bro but this is why coaches get fired. Now it will seem like every year we don't make it to the AFC championship game or superbowl it's a failure. Each year is it's own entity, it's own thing. It's so hard to make it back 2 years in a row. This season was special. Next it will be to try and get a playoff home game(s) but just don't make this season carry over onto the next. Leave last season for what it was. I always said that the worst thing Mangini did was take us to the playoffs his first year. It set him up for failure. New York Jets fans aren't forgiving like other team fans. Look at Jeff Fisher in Tenneessee. How many Jets fans would sit around and wait for this season to fold like the one they had going in Tenn?, how many of us would stand by as our team went like 2-9? after we've had the same coach for 6 to 7 years. We don't give coaches enough room to bounce. .... I'm rambling.
All I'm trying to say is leave this year where it is. This year and lets look forward to next season.

I agree. After the loss to Denver in the AFC Championship game in 98, a bystander told Parcells the Jets would be back next season. "There are no guarantees," he replied. Well, we know what happened in 99.
The Jets, despite Ryan's obnoxious bravado, have made me believe again. It's time to be positive. But the one thing I've tried to convey to everyone on this board all year long is consistency. C O N S I S T E N C Y. That is, becoming a regular playoff team 3 to 4 years in a row. That's when you know the losing culture has been eradicated. That's when you know you have a team to be proud of.
Just off the top of my head, when I think of consistency, I think of the Eagles, Patriots, Colts, Steelers, Chargers. Yes, all of those teams disappoint in the playoffs from time to time. But for a young team with a losing culture like the Jets, it's GETTING THERE that matters. Because when you enter the tournament on a consistent basis, anything can happen, as evidenced by the Jets' run this month.
It is not Super Bowl or bust for me. I just want an organization I can be proud of. So far, so good.

Good post by I quoted this for umph!
This is whats important to me. Even the years that we don't make the playoffs I still want to be proud. A team that lays it on the line and if they fail they fail going 100mph.
