The long off season looms
S-Dubb Icon : (29 January 2016 - 10:18 AM) what up home dawgs?
S-Dubb Icon : (29 January 2016 - 10:22 AM) long time no chat, Ya boy has returned from the depths. Good to see everyone alive and well. Another season down the drain... what else is new? Fitz coming back next yr means we wont be going to the superbowl. We seriously need to land a QB. I hope Petty is the future and Im still quietly waiting for Geno to show up. IF they retain him it would speak volumes
Mr_Jet Icon : (29 January 2016 - 11:23 AM) I'm done with Geno. Never really expected much from him from the beginning. So I'm also looking for Petty to be the future.
vjdbbq Icon : (29 January 2016 - 04:33 PM) GENO SUCKS MONKEY DICK
MikeGangGree... Icon : (29 January 2016 - 07:16 PM) S-Dubb??.Who's that guy?
MikeGangGree... Icon : (29 January 2016 - 07:17 PM) FIRE S-DUBB
HarlemHxC814 Icon : (30 January 2016 - 09:10 AM) Dubb and Amen? Did I take a wrong turn and land back in 2007?
HarlemHxC814 Icon : (30 January 2016 - 09:10 AM) Haha good to see both of you
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (30 January 2016 - 03:28 PM) I don't care if Cro comes back, I think Marcus Williams can start opposite Revis. Hes a ball hawk and has performed well everytime hes called on.
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (30 January 2016 - 03:41 PM) I want Fitz back as starter, he lacks arm talent but he is scrappy
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (30 January 2016 - 03:41 PM) The team loves him as a leader and he is a good bridge QB as we groom a QB of the future.
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (30 January 2016 - 03:42 PM) He also has top notch pocket awareness.
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (30 January 2016 - 03:42 PM) He allows our playmakers to make plays. After years of terrible QB play, I'll take 31 TD 15 INTs almost 4,000 yards
MikeGangGree... Icon : (01 February 2016 - 12:41 AM) I can't stop thinking about the off season...... what the hell are we gonna do!!
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (02 February 2016 - 09:59 AM) Maccagnan is going to have to show his worth
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (02 February 2016 - 10:00 AM) They can't have Wilkerson on that franchise tag, they have to sign him long term with a small cap hit or trade him. Otherwise we are in trouble with other FAs.
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (02 February 2016 - 10:00 AM) We need Harrison back, you can't run a effective 3-4 without a stud NT.
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (02 February 2016 - 10:01 AM) I hope we get Harrison back on a 4 yr contract.
MikeGangGree... Icon : (02 February 2016 - 12:55 PM) I really think we are going to have to tag and trade Wilkerson
MikeGangGree... Icon : (02 February 2016 - 12:56 PM) If we keep wilk we lose Harrison or Fitzpatrick maybe both
MikeGangGree... Icon : (02 February 2016 - 12:56 PM) And ivory
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (02 February 2016 - 07:23 PM) We can't keep Wilkerson, Richardson, and Williams. A move has to be made
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (02 February 2016 - 07:25 PM) If the Jets want to go cheaper, they can try to trade Wilkerson and have Richardson/Williams for cheap
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (02 February 2016 - 07:25 PM) Then they can re-sign Harrison, FItzpatrick, Ivory, and maybe Powell.
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (03 February 2016 - 09:59 AM) Kaepernick apparently wants out of SF and wants to join the Jets
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (03 February 2016 - 09:59 AM) Guess he sees the Jets as a team with a great WR tandem and a quality OC who builds a offense around the players
MikeGangGree... Icon : (03 February 2016 - 10:29 AM) No thanks
MikeGangGree... Icon : (03 February 2016 - 10:29 AM) Unless he's dirt cheap
MikeGangGree... Icon : (03 February 2016 - 10:30 AM) The jets would be fools to take on that contract
Jetsfan115 Icon : (03 February 2016 - 02:09 PM) keep powell, snakcs, wilkerson, and fitz. let ivory walk, trade richardson, cut cromartie, restructure brick
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (03 February 2016 - 04:18 PM) Marshall said no to Kaepnerick, he wants FItzpatrick as his QB
vjdbbq Icon : (04 February 2016 - 12:07 PM) Where's Rob ? I need some ass shots !!!!!
MikeGangGree... Icon : (07 February 2016 - 04:16 PM) its crazy how dead this site is
MikeGangGree... Icon : (07 February 2016 - 04:16 PM) its super bowl Sunday!!
vjdbbq Icon : (07 February 2016 - 04:47 PM) Everybody is at Rob's house ; checking out the asses !!!!!
Smedsthejet Icon : (07 February 2016 - 05:17 PM) Hope Cotchery gets a ring tonight
santana Icon : (07 February 2016 - 07:04 PM) Yeah I would rather see a panther win
santana Icon : (07 February 2016 - 07:25 PM) Zzzz
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (07 February 2016 - 09:03 PM) I want to see Manning go out on top
vjdbbq Icon : (07 February 2016 - 11:03 PM) Jerricho got screwed on the call in the first quarter but he dropped a few later on .
vjdbbq Icon : (07 February 2016 - 11:04 PM) Screw Manning and his chicken parm .
MikeGangGree... Icon : (07 February 2016 - 11:29 PM) We need a pass rushing LB!! Look at Denver.
MikeGangGree... Icon : (07 February 2016 - 11:30 PM) Nothing against manning but he wasn't good at all this year and gives me hope that we can reach a super bowl with Fitzpatrick
Jetsfan0099 Icon : (08 February 2016 - 06:42 AM) Denver has two future HOF edge rushers with Miller and Ware.
ganggreen2003 Icon : (08 February 2016 - 08:01 PM) NO to kapergimmick

We have all been brainwashed. The big splash will be a new pool added to Florham Park that Rexy is going to do a cannonball into during the summer!

Bringing back Coles, on the cheap, for depth wouldn't be a bad idea. He isn't going to push B.E. or Cotch, but he could be a slot receiver for a year, or a number 4. I don't think we sign Coles, why bother. We can draft a guy to be our slot receiver, or if we get a little lucky, we draft Dez Bryant, maybe Thomas from GTech, and when we go 3 wide put J-Co in the slot, with B.E. and Rookie out wide. Plus, Coles is one big hit away from being done.

To answer a couple of your points: by this point in his career Coles isn't going to be looking for a payday - he got a decent cheque from the Bengals after all, whilst I think he would be content with having a backup role (the portrayal of him as a whinger is exaggerated IMO given that all I can remember him griping about was the intensity of Mangini's training camps and that never seemed to strain their relationship). In regards to Clowney - he was hardly used probably because he isn't a very good receiver. He's had two years on the roster now and has only ever shown in preseason. On the issue of a playmaker, is that not what Edwards' role is meant to be? Tall, fast and can stretch the field?
Out of a #3 WR you can't expect eye dropping numbers, and Coles still had a decent year in Cincinatti, in which he stayed healthy.
We're disagreeing over what we think needs in terms of receivers - you believe the team needs a playmaker, whilst I see the team requiring depth and someone who can produce at either #3 or #4 on the depth chart.
You cant have too many playmakers and Edwards only catches 1 out of every 5 deep balls. The Jets are reported as looking for another playmaker, not just me. And all we have as a homerun threat right now is leon, and he is comming off a broken leg.

I didnt mean to insinuate coles wanted a large contract, just a larger one then he desrves, and frankly, he isnt worth veteran minimum right now, especially not if hes a 4th receiver.

As for Clowney, im not saying hes great, but the FO seems to think he can become something and he finally scored this year. if they want him to get a bigger role Coles and a rookie would kill that. And right now id take Clowney over Coles, becuase at least Clowney can still burn.

And if you want a slow, aging receiver, who would be looked to as a possesion receiver(when he cant even keep possesion) you have fun with that. Common sense states a young receiver who has playmaking potential is the better option, especially since Braylon is only on a one year deal.

if its not common sense then it should be. Which would you rather go into a horse race with? An old horse who has a history of throwing his jockey off? or a young stud?

I didn't take any sides.

Coles is on his last legs.

We don't know how the rookie will pan out.

All I'm saying is there is two sides to the argument. It's not common sense, its pure opinion. You have yours, smeds has his.

didnt say you were taking sides i simply posed a question to you.

And breaking down common sense in its simplest meaning, the most common opinion in this thread is to NOT take back coles, therefore it is common sense. If it was just me vs. smeds id see you as having a point, but thats not the case.

There is plenty of people who think taking back Coles and having another vet around (regardless of drafting a rookie or not) would be a good thing for this team.

Well all know the people on this board don't give a shit for Coles. It's always been that way.

Believe it or not, there are other Jets fans out there.

yea i know there are other jet fans out there kinda obvious, however if you wanna take it that way, we can go into all the football minds and what they think of the deal.

straight up Coles is not what we need and is a waste of space on the roster. I dont know how many different ways to say it. If your sentimental about the guy, put on his jersey and watch old highlights, cus thats as good as its gunna get.

I never said I wanted him. I actually don't want him, but I can definitely see where smeds (and others) come from when they say we could welcome him back.

If we make the "big FA splash" with Taylor, my guy I want at #29 is probably Thomas from GT. But I like some other guys too that I wouldn't mind like Jared Odrick if hes there.

Bwah!??! YOU LIE!!!!

If Gaytay is the big FA splash, then I propose a trade up for Earl Thomas. Oh, thought just crossed my mind. Thoughts on Myron Rolle? The year off from football to become a Rhodes Scholar has apparently dropped his stock. Would anybody object if we were able to draft him? Then, our most pressing needs apparently seem to be fixed short term. Taylor helps the pass rush, Myron Rolle learns behind Pool, we draft either a lineman or a receiver in the first. Wham, Bam, thank you Madden10.

Ain't that the truth:

Holmes, Taylor on the fence.

Will MT move up in the draft to get a stud??

Everyone is going to have to their best to get air time on Hard Knocks.

I don't pretend to know the players in the draft but one thing is for sure Tanny can take any player he wants other than a team that has no choice but to take the #1 player.
Tanny will make it a throw down.
